Best pizza you can get in Manhattan. And I know pizza 8/12/2009

Koronet is a pizza joint on 112th and broadway in Morningside Heights near Colubmbia. I know good pizza. I live in Manhattan and let me tell you this is the best pizza you can get in manhattan. The best part is it is not a tourist trap Pros: Cheap. quantity Cons: poor location more

cheap, delicious and memorable 6/30/2009

I can recall the days when the jumbo slice was $2. Now $3.25, it is still a steal. It has to be the size of 3 ""ordinary"" slices at any of the mediocre spots throughout the city. This pizza is good too. The sauce is tangy and the crust perfectly done. 1 slice and you are stuffed. $1 for toppings on a slice seems like a robbery, until you get a half pound of mushrooms or half n onion on your slice. Don't order more than 2 toppings or you cannot pick the thing up! We will travel to eat here. Pros: good sauce, big slices, affordable Cons: busy, tiny bathroom, 1 table more

So Hungry You Could Eat a Hore 1/23/2008

While Koronet may or may not fit the bill for best pizza in NYC, there aren't many who can argue it doesn't rank as most memorable. The pizza itself is quite good actually but of course the main selling point is the size. And as your own mom will attest to, size does matter. Considering the inflated price of a slice in NYC, $3 for a slice big enough to feed a third world nation or at least amply fill you up is quite the deal. It's also conviently located by Columbia right off thecorner subway stop. All in all a deal to good to pass up. Pros: Huge Slices, Cheap Prices, Great People Watching Spot more

Average; a lot of it 9/29/2007

The last reviewer got it right but I feel I need to reiterate it since there are already too many raving reviews of this place. This is average pizza. But it's cheap in that you get an enormous slice. It is not flavorful but it is filling. I'm a student and this place is hugely popular but people tend to equate popularity with quality. That's not the case here. It's popular because it's cheap on a student budget, not good. It's just average. A lot of average. Pros: Open late Cons: Students more

Good if you're hungry 8/16/2007

Taste is SUBJECTIVE. That said Koronet is decent pizza. Very large slices at a reasonable price (note, the plain slices are up to $3.00 which is a price hike from the earlier review this year) that will serve as a meal for all except the most gluttonous. Going at peak times will ensure a fresh out of the oven slice which is most likely when this pizza is at its best. I went at around 1:30PM today and was in and out the door (running late to a meeting) in less than 3 minutes. Slice was hot and cheese/sauce ratio was pretty good but slice was bland. I was quite full afterwards so the slice served its purpose but I will probably only go back when in an extreme rush and need to eat on the run. For me slices really need to have some flavor and Koronet's don't. The guy at the counter asked me if I wanted any spices on my slice and I wish I had taken him up on the offer during each bite of the slice I took. Would I recommend going out of your way to try Koronet's slices? Definitely not. But if you're in the neighborhood, short on time and really hungry Koronet fits the bill. Pros: Filling slices easy to grab and go when you're on the run Cons: Slice lack flavor more

As cheap as NYC eating can get, and it's good 5/18/2007

I may be biased because I live down the block from Koronet, but it just may be the best pizza I've had in Manhattan. At $2.75 a slice for a piece of pizza as big as you've ever seen, (way bigger than say, a california pizza kitchen pie which goes for $7 and up) I think it's safe to say that Koronet pizza is an amazing deal. I've been fairly disappointed in NYC pizza (NJ pizza is the best in my opinion) but Koronet is probably the one pizza place in Manhattan I've been thoroughly impressed by. I'd avoid going there during non-peak times, as the pizza does go south pretty quick, but if you get a plain slice it will suit you just fine and you won't have to wait for the extra toppings (which are relatively expensive) Pros: Value, speed, late hours Cons: Undergrads, lines more

Slices are getting smaller. . . 12/25/2006

recently, the pizza size has been creeping downward. i've noticed this during the past few visits. i then took a look at the area the pizza takes up on the big silver trays and confirmed it. it's gotten smaller Pros: quick, easy and still relatively large slices more

Too good to be true 8/21/2005

When a friend told me about this awesome pizza place that had slices the size of a table, of course I was skeptical and thought he was exaggerating. One night in the city, we decided to go and it was amazing. I almost fell over when I saw the size of the slice (probably equal to at least 2 and a half regular slices), so it's easy to have a nice, tasty meal for less than $5. Good tasting. The place itself is small, so you might have ahard time finding a place to sit, but still a place you need to try!! Pros: Slice sizes, Prices, Neighborhood Cons: Seating more

better than your average nyc pizza 2/28/2005

the draw to this place is the fact that you can get a cheap slice that is about the size of your head. i'm really not exaggerating! it's huge and although i'm not a huge fan of the greasy, thin food that imitates pizza found in new york, this is pretty damn decent. especially a great place to stop on the way home from the bars. Pros: huge slices., open really late. more

I MISS Koronet Pizzeria!!! 9/29/2004

This place has the BEST Pizza!!! I would drive from NJ - use up gas, and tolls to have a slice of Pizza from Koronet!!! My friends and I would go at least 3 times a week! NOW, I live in TEXAS.. and I can't find a good slice of Pizza anywhere!!!! = ( Ohhhh the good ol'days.. Pros: great location, inexpensive, yummy more

If size was everything 8/17/2004

Huge, humongous, huger than huge slices! I paid 2.75 for a slice and a small soda. I was stuffed! I don't think it was the best tasting. The pizza could have had more mozzarella but with cheese prices going up, I guess I'd okay for a thin-cheese pizza. Cool alternative to the Farmiglia across the street Pros: Biggest Slice in NYC more

Awesome 8/4/2004

Koronet pizza isn't thin-crust. It isn't a delicacy, the cheese doesn't bubble lightly on top, and the sauce doesn't taste like anythin special. And that's exactly how I like it, it's quality, solid, HUGE slices that are ready ten seconds after you order. I love this place, I'd eat here every night, you need one slice to more than fill you up. Go to Koronet's once and you'll be back, it's amazing. Pros: Quality Pizza, Friendly Service, Huge Slices more

Must try! 6/28/2003

I have lived in NYC for 14 years and ate Koronet religiously for the first 13 years. They changed the sauce and it is not as good as before. Still huge slices and have to have a slice at least once! Pros: Size Cons: Changed the sauce more

unique 12/4/2002

I am not sure I would have graduated without Koronet 101 and my required stop every few days to get a ""slab."" For me, this is the best pizza in NYC and probably the world, but I admit pizza in NYC is a subjective thing. The size (very large), is unique however. Pros: pizza, cost Cons: seating more
