Koby is amazing! He is truly the best stylist in NY. For years, I have not had a different cut because each time I ventured outside my comfort zone, I had a bad cut. I have been to lots of salons - Cutler, Mialia, Ted Gibson, etc. Each time I came away either with a bad cut or a trim. Koby gave me a cut for which I have been receiving so many compliments, which is truly a first in 6-7 years! I have thick, dark, wavy hair, and hate it when stylists thin it. But Koby's style worked wonders on it! After being through so many salons, I have found the one! \r BTW, I was very skeptical when I first went to him because most of the reviews here have just written a review for Koby. Who would log in to citysearch to write only one review, unless it is the salon itself? But in Koby's case, I actually believe that people like their cut so much that they do it for Koby. He actually encourages you to write a review because that is how customers go to him since he is a freelance.\r Do try Koby - you will not be disappointed.\r Koby, I did try the diffuser and you were absolutely right. Best hairstylist 9/30/2007

I have always been scared to cut my hair, I only started styling it 5 years ago and so far only one hairstylist had done someting nice with it. So I researched the internet to find one in New York and saw all these positive reviews for Kobi. I thought well why don't I give him a try. I have to explain that I have very fine hair. If you see anyone with two pony tails I may be happy to have close to one of those. Kobi looked at my hair and said we can do something with that and he did. I let him do what he thought best and it is absolutely gorgious. My boyfriend was estatic with it and so are my friends. I feel like a new person with finally a great hair cut. more

FINALLY someone got it right!!! 9/15/2007

I was VERY happy to find Koby because I was kind of frustrated with the quality of my hair cuts and color in the city... FINALLY someone got it right. Koby knew exactly what i wanted and more.... I just let him do his thing and i got the most adorable, chic, manageable hair cut. The color is so natural and perfect for me and my style. Not to mention it was such a fun experience with great conversation, and a really nice glass of wine also:-)\r \r \r \r \r \r Pros: Simply great hair more

Who Wants Gorgeous Hair?! 9/15/2007

Who wants gorgeous hair? I did, so I went to Koby, and that's what I got! The best cut of my life! Prior to meeting Koby I would have to choose between a ""straight"" cut and a ""curly"" cut."" This frustrated me a number of different levels. I don't want to wear my hair the same way everyday of my life. Hair designers should be able to do both, well. (That is not always the case) When my hair was getting cut, I was a little nervous because his technique is unlike any other that I've experienced. (Incredible) When I walked out of Serenity, for the first time, I was in love with my hair! Koby is an amazing artist that listens! What more could you ask for?\r If you're shooting for mediocrity, then you should keep looking.\r \r Pros: Now I have the best hair of my life! more

Love my hair! 9/14/2007

I always used to flat iron my hair or tie back my unruly curls until I saw Koby at Serenity. Hands down, he gave me the best haircut and color I have ever had in my life. I sat in his chair and left my hair to his mercy. He took me out of my comfort zone and gave me a rockin? haircut that I never tie back anymore. The best part about it, is he gave me a fresh, fun new look that is so easy to style and really looks like me. \r The salon itself is a trendy spot, with good music and a creative atmosphere. It is an independent salon where the stylists are able to do freelance work. I found this adds to the relaxed atmosphere and to Koby?s inspiration.\r \r Overall my experience was fantastic. I love my hair, found Koby amazing; and the location is comfortable and convenient. He has a client for life! I would recommend him to everyone. Best cut AND color!!! 9/4/2007

I've been going to see Koby since his days at Ted Gibson and have followed him around ever since. I have curly hair that i wear straight and koby knows how to style it so that it is easy for me to blowdry even after i leave the salon. The best part about his cuts are how long they last as like most people i don't get to see him as often as i would like.\r \r i recently had a highlighting disaster (done by a different salon) so i was even more excited when i learned that koby""s coloring skills are just amazing as his cuts! He fixed my highlights and all over color to look so natural and my hair is healthier and shinier than ever!\r \r I very rarely post vendor reviews (actually this is my first ever) but i know how difficult it is to find a great stylist and i would recommend Koby to anyone with no worries! The best haircuts I've ever had! 8/9/2007

Koby is a truly talented hair stylist. I've been to many of the high profile salons in NYC, and Koby is by far the best. He likes to cut more edgy, rock and roll style, but he won't talk you into a trendy look that wont suit your face. I always leave the salon feeling like a million bucks, and better yet, Koby's cuts still look fabulous six weeks later. more

Best cuts in NYC....or anywhere for that matter 8/3/2007

Koby has been my stylist for the past 3 years, and he earned my trust in his abilities after the very first cut. I have long, fine straight hair and spent most of my life getting boring cuts that left my hair straight and lifeless. First time he cut my hair, he assessed who i am, what i do for a living, what my style is, etc. and gave me a cut that was PERFECTLY suited and tailored to me...modern, edgy, but still sophisticated and sweet. And nothing boring or lifeless about it...it looks full and healthy with absolutely no products needed. And since then, he's repeatedly given me cuts that have me leaving his salon feeling totally happy and gorgeous. For those of you ladies who are like me and don't always make it back to the salon as often as you should, rest assured that his cuts are so good they literally keep their shape for months. I can honestly say that Koby is the best around....and I have tried many stylists at salons throughout the city, and none compared to Koby. I am very picky and protective over my hair, and I don't even worry for a minute when Koby's got the scissors. I go, relax, enjoy our conversations, and completely put my trust in him to give me a cut I love..and he never lets me down. \r \r Pros: Reliably awesome cuts, warm and friendly conversation, comfortable salon with really friendly staff Cons: Absolutely none. more

No more bad hair days - ever!!! 7/4/2007

From the moment I met Koby I knew I trusted him to work miracles with my hair. From day one I have let him do whatever he thought best for my hair and I am always surprised and thrilled with the results. That was a few years ago and he has never let me down. My hair is very fine which seems to be a challenge for most stylists who either advised me to keep my hair short or continually cut it in variations of the same boring style. Koby always has amazing ideas for my hair and I have never been disappointed. He has managed to give me volume and styles that I thought were impossible with my hair type. Yet he manages to not only give me a great cut, but a style that is easy to maintain. I tease him that I haven't had a bad hair day since I met him, but it is truth. more

Koby is definitely the best... 7/2/2007

I've been following Koby around for god knows how long. I've gone through so many other hairstylists in the past but none that I would stay with because they were either horrible or nothing special. Koby is amazing when it comes to haircuts. I am Asian and have thin straight hair which can be hard to manage if it's too long, as it'll just flop down and look glued to my head. Koby always manages to give me a great haircut and one that's edgy as well. The best part of his haircuts is that they grow out so well. There's never an akward stage. I even cut my hair super short back in December, where it was longer in the front and shorter in the back, and it grew out so nicely, which you wouldn't think was possible with that haircut. When I first started going to him, I would give him more direction because I didn't know if I could trust him. Now years have passed, and I just go in there and give him a general idea (for example, ""I'm trying to grow it long and would like to keep my sweep bangs"") and he'll just do his magic. It always comes out great and I ALWAYS get compliments about each and every haircut. I completely trust him now with my hair, which most girls can agree with me, is hard to do with hairstylists. I love Koby! He's truly honestly the best! Pros: great haircuts, personable Cons: none that I can think of more

expert hairdresser, very personalized service 6/27/2007

the first time i went to see koby i had long straight hair that was never quite straight - just frizzed out alot and felt heavy and weighted down.. koby gave me a great cut that was perfect for my hair, while keeping the length he discovered my hair was naturally wavy when you took off some of the weight - how could he know that when i didn't even know it!! so i ended up with great natural wavy curly hair that i had always wanted without having to get an awful perm. i couldn't believe how great it made me feel to finally have someone that both understood what i wanted, and brought out the best in my hair. he is definitely an expert at what he does, and seems to always stay on the cutting edge, while making sure the cut is best for the person who is wearing it as well. thanks koby! more

Curly hair..... 6/19/2007

I've been going to Koby for almost five years and couldn't imagine going to anyone else. I have curly hair and I was always afraid of getting my hair cut....but now I can just relax. My hair looks great for months at a time, I use fewer products and can just wake up in the morning and my hair looks good. Koby understands that I'm a little more conservative and respects that...never tries to give me a cut that just isn't me. \r Christine G. more

I had been to many salons where I had left with a so-so hairstyle...until a friend referred me to Koby. I've been several times now and every time I leave feeling amazing and fashion forward. He works with you to pick the perfect style to match your look and personality. I've gotten bangs, layers, and a beautiful honey color from him and am overwhelmingly pleased each time. I loved it as did everyone else! Even as it was growing out it looked great because Koby had given me a flexible yet structured cut that allowed for that. I couldn't be happier with his services. He is a master at what he does and I strongly recommend that others go to him and get the same amazing experience and results that I have had. Absolutely perfect. Pros: Flexible hours. Cute Salon. I didn't think there was hope for my hair. I kept going to different places and coming out with the same type of hair style that did nothing for me. No one ever seem to get it right, that is until I went to Koby. He is a truly an amazing stylist that knows every hair type and will work to transform your haircut into a work of art. more

Best Haircut 5/29/2007

Koby is the best. I was going to the same hair salon for years and I always walked out with the same haircut. I got really bored with it and a friend referred me to Koby. I told him that I wanted a complete change and I let him do whatever he wanted with my hair. I knew that he would do a great job based on my friend's haircuts. When Koby was finished with the cut, it was the best haircut I've ever had. It was modern and very edgy and I got a lot of compliments on it. From that day I can't imagine going anywhere else to cut my hair. Thanks Koby. more

I have been getting my hair cut by koby since last year and am never disappointed! I was soo thrilled about my haircut the last time I went, I almost told Koby to do the same thing, but I just let him do his thing and was shocked that I loved this cut even more than the last one.
