Don't punish yourself...go eat at Kobe An! 7/26/2010

Each time I go to Kobe An, it's a great time. I can eat in the dining room, I can eat in the lounge, I can eat at the sushi bar, or I can eat in the tea room, and it's always a great experience. Once I get there, I relax knowing I'm about to enjoy myself. While personal preferences vary, I've not had ANYTHING on this menu that was less than ""good"". According to my personal taste, most of what I've tried is at least ""great""! The sushi menu offers a wide variety, which makes it difficult for me to want to try anything off of the dinner menu - I can't not order sushi when I walk in. HOWEVER...I have had some of the menu items, each of which were abundantly flavorful, filling, and left me more than happy when I was done. So you might have to travel a bit further if you aren't on the west side of town, but it'll be worth the trip! If you dig sushi, you'll love Kobe An. Pros: Fantastic food, wonderful staff, inviting atmosphere Cons: Not in the middle of Denver, but so what...go anyway. more

Amazing Fresh Sushi 7/21/2010

I'm just giving anyone a heads up about a great sushi restaurant. The sushi is really really good here, and extremely fresh. If you know sushi, I promise you'll love this recommendation. It ranks with sasa and den, without the trend. Pros: new chef is amazing!!!!! more

The best sushi in Denver 2/28/2010

I've been to the top-rated sushi restaurants in Denver and Boulder, some many times. However, this storefront, unassuming place has the best sushi of them all. I was critical, but Rex's creations were amazing. Get a place at the sushi bar and just let him pick. Worth the trip. Pros: Excellent food, friendly staff Cons: Far from home more

great japanese food 12/29/2009

This is a great restaurant, it's been around for a long time and the quality of the food is consistant. The staff is really nice, it's the kind of place that know the regulars by name. Pros: great sushi and bento boxes and tatami rooms Cons: waiting to sit at the sushi bar more

Dining like you've never experienced before 9/27/2009

Very Friendly, and genuine staff. I've never had better service, and the food is enough to bring me back. Sushi is by far my favorite thing to eat, and Kobe An truly delivers...Rex is an AMZING sushi chef, his sauces and creations will melt in your mouth. ALL THE FISH IS EXTREMELY FRESH The Toro is to DIE FOR The kitchen blends old Japanese with new, it's innovative, also traditional...and everything delicious. I could eat at Kobe An EVERY DAY. If you haven't gone you're missing out. Pros: Astounding Food, Phenomenal Service, traditional atmosphere Cons: Harder to find, But after that NOTHING = ) more

The Best Sushi in Denver! 9/22/2009

Kobe An always has great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. I would recommend it to everyone. The sushi is always fresh and the kitchen cooks up some exceptional dishes. Pros: Excellent sushi! Cons: To many things on the menu to pick from! more

Best Sushi in all of Denver! 5/6/2008

Rex is the name of the head sushi chef. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any sushi goer. I've been going here for almost 2 years. Rex is friendly, fun and highly entertaining. I drive from Broomfield just to have Rex's wonderful creations. I have never ordered off the menu... I just sit and tell Rex to do his magic and I have not once left disappointed. \r \r The only con is that it is so far away from where I live. Pros: Great service, food, entertainment, value, etc... more

Sit at the Sushi Bar 4/11/2008

I sat at the sushi bar and the sushi chef (Roy, I think) told me that usually his customers let him loose to create items of his own design. It was the best sushi I have ever eaten. It is so worth the drive. Try it out and let Roy do his thing. Lots of fun and a great dining experience. Pros: great food and a great food experience more

The best Japanese restaurant in town PERIOD. 2/29/2008

I just found this restaurant about 4 months ago. I am very critical of food, Japanese in particular. The reasons I LOVE this restaurant are # 1 the food is authentic, # 2 the atmosphere, they even have tatami rooms, and # 3 it is family owned. It is an older restaurant, but VERY well taken care of and updated. I can tell the owners really put alot of care into the business. I almost forgot, the staff is very friendly too. Pros: sushi, food, atmosphere, friendly staff Cons: hidden, sushi bar can be hard to get a seat more

Wonderful Tempura!!! 11/18/2005

Having lived in California and tried many Japanese restaurant this is my favorite. This restaurant is sooo deliousous! Not only is the tempura the best I have ever had. The quality of the meat is wonderful and the sushi is delightful and FRESH. For those who object to this, ""YOU MUST BE CRAZY!"". Everytime I fly into Denver I book all my appointment there to meet my clients. They are always so happy and more willing to work with me because they enjoy their food so much and always tell me they're going to take their family there. Thank you Kobe An for being a great place. Pros: Great food, Great food, Great food more

A great place for a Japanese dining experience! 5/27/2005

My friend and I dine at Kobe An at least once a week, and we love it! The staff is great, the service is prompt, and they have Japanese meals that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. It's a lot of fun to eat in a tea room, but make reservations for them at dinnertime. Try them for lunch first... you'll be back for dinner! Also, we have been there with my 11 month old daughter, and they are very patient and tolerant of kids. Everything on the menu is great, so try it soon! Pros: Authentic cuisine, Japanese/English Cons: Parking not so good more

as good as it gets 5/5/2005

i just moved to denver from san fransisco, and i know good japanese food. the sushi here is very fresh and the rice is perfect. the sushi chef here really knows how to prepare great sushi, his only downfall is he is not very talkative. if you are looking for good sushi in lakewood, this is it. another plus is the restaurant is japanese owned, i don't know about denver, but in california it is getting harder and harder to find a japanese owned japanese restaurant. Pros: clean, good service, good prices more

excellent sushi 3/4/2005

i have been eating sushi for 20 years and this is one of the best places i have tried. i have become a regular here for the past few years, and highly recommend trying it. i mostly eat sushi, but have also tried the tempura and sukiaki, they were delicious. I will also add that the restaurant is well decorated and very clean. Pros: clean, well decorated, great food Cons: hidden, hard to find more

Authentic Japanese food 12/15/2002

Some of the best Japanese food I've had in Denver!! I'm Japanese American and this restaurant reminds me of my mom's cooking! Pros: GREAT FOOD!, Quiet atmosphere, Usually not crowded Cons: Not close to downtown more

Spectacular Sushi 9/6/2002

Kobe-an is the fist place that I've ever tried sushi and its' made me a huge fan. If you don't like sushi try the Deluxe Bento - it's wonderful. The miso soup is also fantastic - warms your body right up. My favorite is the Bento/sushi lunch special - tempura veggies and shrimp, california rolls, miso soup, salad, Tuna, Salmon etc. Great for only $13.00. The sushi chefs are a real treat and the ladies that serve you are wonderful. Great treat - go here for lunch once a week. Would recommend to people who've never tried sushi and anyone who would want some good Sushi and Ichiban! Oh and they have cool Japenense tea rooms if you want to take off your shoes and take in the full experience. Pros: Service, Food, Inexpensive Cons: Bad location, Bad Parking more
