Knowles, J Bradley, Dvm - High Country Animal Clinic

Dr. Knowles has been our veterinarian for four years, and we have never encountered anything but kindness and expert care from him and his staff. As an owner of both cats and dogs, having to look after a sick pet is stressful and scary. I have always found Dr. Knowles to be a reassuring presence even when he has had to give me bad news about my pet. He is knowledgeable and skilled, and he never fails to offer advice about other options and specialists. more

He did not have the capability to fix my dog but insisted he did. It is a dirty hole in the wall of a clinic. He would not let me take my dog to his primary doctor because he needed the money. I think I was the only patient that day and he needed to cover his costs. Secretary always on her smart phone. My dog died 12 hours later. He did not say anything on Friday about him not making it. Came back Saturday for a second treatment. That is when he told me my dog might not make it. Well what do you do when it is the weekend and now your vet is closed.. If I would have left Friday and taken my dog to his primary doctor they ensured a 100 percent recovery. I kept telling him that is what I was going to do. But he said he could treat my dog. Never got an invoice for the treatment. He came up with the cost off the top of his head. I just buried my dog. If I would have taken him to some place better he would still be here with me. Money is more important to him than the animals care. I read some review about him They all say how easy it was to get an appointment. That is because he doesn't have very many clients. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE IF IT IS SOMETHING SERIOUS. I DONT THINK HE EVEN HAD AN X-RAY MACHINE. WORST VET I HAVE HAD THE EXPERIENCE OF GOING TO. more

Dr. Knowles is very knowledgeable and cares for our pets and us in the best way. I have had some spectacular vets in the past and I believe Dr. Knowles is every bit as honest and fair. He seems to have a great intrest in pleasing both of his clients, the animal sort as well as the human sort. He isn't a specialist and he will readily tell you if he thinks your pet may require additional opinions and care from another more specialized vet. He has always supplied us with options for treatment to the best of his knowledge and tries to make treatments affordable. There are some good vets in the area here, Dr. Knowles is just as good as the rest, very close by, and well trusted enough for my animals to call him their "primary care giver." more

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!!! I went there a couple of times when my puppy was having incontinence problems and trouble with throwing up when she drank water. He told me it was just a phase and that she would grow out of it, then he switched the idea to it being renal disease and that it could cost an arm and a leg to test. So he left it, he never tested her, put her on medicine without knowing the problem, and sent me on my way. As for the whole water thing, he didn't even give me an idea on how to fix it! I had to ask a friend who is a retired vet for help who told me a simple fix of just elevating her water bowl will stop it. Never again will i go to him! more

We have used High Country Animal Clinic in Banner Elk, NC for over 5 years now. They are always kind and timely in making apts. when we need them. They take extra care of the animals they treat from little bunnies to big Great Pyrenees. When our precious cat ""Stripey"" developed kidney failure they were so kind letting me take time to spend the last moments with her and even be right there with here when she left us. It was a very sad day for our family. That week we received a lovely kitty sympathy card saying How sad they were for us for the loss of our precious cat. It really did mean so much to us!!! I would highly recommend Hight Country Animal Clinic more

I have only been there twice, once with my dog & just recently with my cat. I was very impressed with Dr. Knowles & how he not only treated my pets, but also all the information he gave me on them. On my first visit I received a copy of his ""mission statement"" & had never seen one from a vets office before. I will continue to go to him with all of my pets when needed as I felt very comfortable with him & how the compassion he showed for my pets. more

I had a cat choking emergency, and they saw me almost immediately, and checked my cat over for temperature, heartrate, and other vital signs once the choking was over. I thought that the service was very good, and the vet is very strong on suggesting preventative medicine. more

High Country Animal Clinic has been taking care of our cats for the past 12 years which includes their regular checkups, medical emergencies and boarding while we were on vacation. We are happy with the care that our cats have received. more

I took my two dogs and cat here when I lived in the area. I never had any problems with their service. When my cat was giving birth and had complications, I called and they walked me through helping to deliver the kittens over the phone. more

The service, treatment & the folks there are absolutely wonderful. They explained everything to me in detail they couldn't of been more accomodating. And I've been going to Dr. Knowles for a good ten years & his staff there is wonderful. Matter fact this is my third dog going there and I trust everything that he tells me and I do what he says & I couldn't tell ya enough great things about the whole clinic there, wonderful people. We have been very happy with the High Country Animal Clinic. The doctor and staff are respectful and helpful. Options are given for treatment and I don't find a big mark-up in goods. We feel very comfortable taking our beloved dog to that clinic. more

I just took my cat there for treatment,shots and examination and I had a very pleasant experience with Dr.Knowles I have been taking my cat Daisy to Dr. Knowles for 4 years ever since she was a kitten. And he was a very nice way, gentle way with her and it's very personable and I have been very pleased with the treatment there. Thank you! more

Dr. Bradley Knowles my vet, I have had to pretty close to 5 years & I would recommend him to anybody who comes in any emergency, for my animals & he also was getting ready for a trip one time I called him, my dog cut his foot, he waited until I got there. We have been taking our pets to High Country and Dr Knowles for 8 years now and could not be more pleased with the service there. Our last dog Jake ended up geting terminal cancer and we greatly appreciated how Dr Knowles cared for him during that time. Both Dr and staff would routinely call for updates or to give recommendations or report blood results - even on a Sunday and once when he was out in Colorado. Sadly, Jake passed away after a few months - but we have several healthy pets including a new puppy who loves to go to the vet! Also, we always get seen on the same day we call if there is a problem so we are grateful to them for taking care of us before things get worse. more

We were very pleased with the work done at High Country Animal Clinic. Our dog had been uncomfortable to the point of not wanting to walk much for several months. He had been treated somewhere else with antibiotics for a urinary infection but only got better for a short time. Dr. Knowles found a huge stone in his bladder, and after surgery to remove it, he was like a different dog in a few days. We actually have the stone now to show to our amazed friends! We were also impressed that both the vet and other staff members continued to call and check on us long after he had been treated. And yes - the receptionist there is super-nice, but I disagree with a previous review that said Dr Knowles was uncaring. Completely different experience here. more
