I have been to Kincaid's a number of times, both for special occasions and business meetings and have never been disappointed. My out of town customers who have been there with me look forward to having lunch or dinner there when they are in town. more

Terrible Service, ok food 9/26/2010

Saturday evening we went to Kincaid's Bloomington. While the steak and lamb shops were fantastic the sides (mashed potatoes and asparagus) and soups were cold.\r \r The Service in the bar area was terrible...extremely slow and inaccurate.\r \r Not sure if I will give it another try. more

Another average restaurant 11/19/2008

We were guests of another couple for a b--day celebration and we hadn't been there in awhile from a previous average dinner where we chose not to go back for dinner. The bar would've been fine except for pesty waitresses while having a pre dinner drink. \r At dinner the waitress we had annoyed all of us with constant interuptions pushing us for decisions like they wanted to get us out of there to fill the table. It was not that busy for a Friday and by 9:15 the place had cleared out. The food everyone ordered; scallops were rubbery with virtually no vegetables to go with it, the mahi was tasteless with overcooked vegetables that weren't eaten, the pork loin combo ended up being 1small item. Also needed to ask for more water often with the older and not very friendly waitress. Will probably stay away for quite awhile after that experience, so so food, high priced and small drinks-I'm sure the wine was less than 4 oz.. Pros: Nice layout, fairly comfortable seating, easy covered parking. Cons: marginally tasty and poorly prepared food, overpriced drinks, pushy service. more

Kincaid's - GREAT FOOD, but the worst service...EVER 1/28/2007

I absolutely have been a devout fan of this places since I moved to the Twin Cities in the mid 90s. My boss and even my CEO recommended it originally as their ""favorite restaurant."" I have dined there regularly countless times, and despite my absolute adoration of their food (Copper Creek salmon to die for), their service can be deplorable. We had a server last time, I would assume is new since we saw her training recently on another ocassion we dined. She was rude bordering on offensive, and snide. Her general lack of knowledge on the menu and obvious lack of people skills was abhorrent. That skinny little blonde thing with a bad attitude has no business working with people as it was obvious from the moment we sat down we were inconvienencing her. If you want our business back, you may want to find a way to replace \r Shannon. We won't be back until we know she has left your employement. Pros: GREAT FOOD Cons: BAD SERVICE more

Perfect Place for a Special Night Out 7/27/2006

We recently celebrated my birthday at Kincaids and it was truly one of the most memorable meals I've ever had. The restaraunt is a bit difficult to find - it's on the main floor of an office building, but it's beautiful. Wide open and airy, most tables have great views of the beautiful landscaping outside. There is also a lovely patio with outdoor seating available. The service was exceptional. The manager suprised me within a few minutes of our arrival with my favorite martini compliments of the restaurant. He'd received a ""hint"" from my husband while making our reservations on opentable. Our server was also given the ""heads up"" about our special evening and prepared a wonderful dessert for us that wasn't even on the menu. The food was fantastic. My husband had the New York Strip which was perfection. A generous cut and perfectly prepared. If you're a seafood lover - welcome to heaven. Order the salmon and forget-about-it. It's the best around - their signature dish. We also tried one of the specials that night: banana shrimp stuffed with crab in a macademia nut crust with a buttery sauce - WOW. Hungry yet? This place is a no-brainer for any special event - but do make a reservation. It's a hot spot for wine-ing and dining clients so getting a good table might be a challenge even on a week night. Dress up and make a night of it! Pros: Service, food, ambience - everything! Cons: none! more

outstanding 11/29/2004

My wife and I love seafood, and we've dined at fine restaurants in this country and others. Our recent visit here was world-class. A scallop preparation and the crab-stuffed sea bass couldn't have been better. The smoked mushroom salad special for the night was excellent. There were six of us, and everyone's selections (we traded about) were wonderfully prepared. Our waiter was also very friendly and efficient. I don't know about the beef and pork here, but the seafood was memorable. Nice ambience, too. (I refer to the Bloomington site.) Pros: Food, service more

not worth it... 12/10/2003

I was not impressed when we went to Kincaid's for dinner. The entrees were mediocre, the waitress omitted items that we ordered, and the seating arrangements made it difficult to hold an intimate conversation. Dessert was amazing, though. Pros: creme brulee Cons: service, price more

Kincaid's 10/10/2003

The creator of this list has either never been to Minneapolis or is used to the food at McDonalds. Kincaids is an exceptional seafood restarunt and should be ranked the number two seafood restaruant just behind Oceanaire. Pros: Great downtown locati more

Lunch review only 6/2/2003

Kincaids makes fantastic food. You get what you pay for though as well. The restaurant itself is in the ground floor of an office building. It has nicely maintained gardening around the dining area to separate it from the building entry. Still, you can get the feeling you are in a big food court. Menu choices are varied and they have many temporary or seasonal items so you can always find something new. The bar is rather drab and smells of smoke. They could use better air scrubbers. The bar usually has an array of saloon specialties that are available almost immediately. So if you are rushed, you have multiple choices. Overall, it is good, but can become expensive to eat there regularly. Pros: friendly staff, good food Cons: food court atmosphere, expensive more

Fun place 2/18/2003

I took a friend to lunch here a while back and we both really enjoyed ourselves. It was a little loud, but luckily we were seated in the corner where we could talk. I had a great salad with salmon and artichokes, and our waitress recommended a fantastic chardonnay to go with it. Service was great and our waitress was very cute and very charming. Made me wish I was her age again! They have great key lime pie for dessert and we wern't rushed out when we were finished like they do so many other places. I'll be back! more

Three strikes and your out!! 11/14/2002

Having given Kincaid's two additional opportunities to make up for their first dismal showing, I would say they are ..OUT!! Kinicaid's home of the creeping delayed resevation. Not once of the three times were they able to seat us within 15 mins of our resevation time, and talking to regulars at the bar, this is par for the course. Maybe they need the additional income from the bar. Our last res.was with a party of eight. Served once again by a middle aged woman in a goofy apron with an attitude that said ""I just handed you menus I'll need 20%.Never seen a place that has a staff mem. just to address complaints. What does that say!!??? Pros: ambience Cons: service, seating, promptness more

Money well spent 11/13/2002

My husband and I had dinner at Kincaids last nite. Service was efficient and friendly. Rosemary & garlic bread was unbelievable. Spinach & crab stuffed trout was wonderful as was my husband's filet. This is the third upscale resteraunt in a row where we have ordered a tomato salad and NOT sent the tomatoes back. These were actually juicy & ripe, unlike pink crunchy ones we were served at Ruth Chris Steak House & Girrarosto's. Key lime pie was to die for! We had appetizer, salad, main course, dessert & lots of wine for $150. Good bargain considering we spent $200 at the other two steak houses. Money well spent ! Pros: great food, friendly service more

Overpriced blandness 8/21/2002

This place looks like you are sitting in the lobby of a hotel. Not much excitement when it comes to decor but it is suppossed to look RICH. Food is fresh with very good service. Wide variety of seafood. But the prices are a little over the top and most people who come here are either rich and have money to spend or those who are putting it on their business corp. card. Definately a place you go to at least once in your life but nothing really made me want to go back again as there is a lot of other restaurants that are just as pricey with better atmosphere. Pros: good food, great service Cons: decor is bland, overpriced more

Great food, Great Service 8/13/2002

I work in the building next to Kincaid's and love to go there for lunch or dinner. Spendy but good. Pros: great food, great service, patio dining Cons: really expensive more

has been 8/12/2002

It's really a shame that this restaurant has gone downhill over the past few years. I still like the atmosphere but the food is really average and therefore, overpriced. The fish preparations are bland and not really creative as in previous years. I don't know if their having problems with the chefs or they just have become a little too complacent. I wish they'd get someone new in there and overhaul the kitchen crew. I miss the ""old"" kincaid's. more

Am I touching the ground? 6/9/2002

This restaurant is a great place to go and visit. I think it's a very classy and upscale restaurant, but you can go in casual clothes and still feel comfortable. They have an excellent selection to choose from on their menu, and ALL of their food is good. more
