Best food in Clear Lake / Pearland Area 4/21/2007

Steak was the best I have had in the Houston area and the two people that had seafood were just as impressed. We had the crab cakes, which were great, and the fried tomatoes were definitely different and we are glad we tried them. Service was excellent. and the wine list was varied and very affordable. The only issues we had were that their beer choices are not nearly as good as their wine list and that the restaurant is loud. Pros: Service, Wine List, Perfectly cooked steaks Cons: Beer Choices, Ambience, Parking more

Great food, VERY BAD hostess, average service 3/21/2007

This was our first visit (party of 6) to Killen's. We have no complaints about the entrees, the food was great. The deserts we did find a bit lacking...need to be kicked up a notch. However, the problem with Killen's is not the food...it?s the service. Upon arrival we found that there was an issue with our reservation, that it had not been recorded correctly and the hostess made it sound as if we were at fault. We received several excuses about the reservations, instead of simply admitting to the mistake. They did get us seated, but the waiter informed us that there was an issue with the timing because the restaurant booked tables at two hour intervals...so now we felt rushed. Desert was a disaster. We were celebrating a birthday and instead of all deserts coming to the table at one time, we received our deserts a different times and the birthday girl got her desert last AFTER the rest of us had finished our deserts. The birthday desert was a lava cake and has to be prepared ahead of time...the waiter should have informed the table about the special requirements for the cake at the beginning of the evening. Lastly was the bill. The bill was split incorrectly, and the birthday girl ended up paying more than the rest of us! Although the amount to be adjusted was not significant and we didn't make them change it, we did inform the hostess. The hostess gave us a ""whatever"" attitude (yes, she said that) and left the table. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant if you are going out for a special occasion. Pros: Great Food Cons: Bad attitude from hostess, Lost reservation, consider confirming reservation more

food lover 5/29/2006

Excellent steaks, best crab cakes we have every had. Dessert is as good as the best in Houston. Chef Killen was executive chef at Brenner's Steakhouse and has trained in Paris and went to Le Cordon Bleu. Everything was made in house. Pros: Inexpensive, excellent quaility Cons: parking more

Best value in Houston area 5/27/2006

This is Pearland's first real steakhouse with the exception of the prices. Patrons get a 5 star meal well below what you would pay anywhere else. We've eaten here on two occassions and will be back many more. Both times my wife and I had incredible meals. The 16 oz ribeye was cooked to perfection and the chicken francese was an entree we'll get every time. Most recently, I had the 10 oz. filet mignon which was one of the best steaks I've ever had. I look forward to trying everything on the menu. The NY Strip is next.\r \r The crabcake appetizer and creamed spinach are unbelievable. Save room for dessert. The bread pudding creme brulee is a monster as is the hazelnut cheesecake with a biscotti crust.\r \r The setting is perfect for Pearland with an upscale feel that is 100% Texan. It's a restaurant for any occasion that is sure to be a huge success. Pros: Exceptional food quality and presentation, service, ambience Cons: Parking could be better. more
