Some of the Best 5/9/2010

This is the place for a diner who doesn't consider spicy tuna rolls and California rolls a prerequisite for every sushi meal. In fact, they don?t even make them here. Instead, you'll be treated to a culinary surprise. My favorites, the tuna carpaccio and toro tartar, are both heaven. At Kazu, you?re getting quality sushi, prepared by chefs who know what they?re doing--it's both a treat and a luxury not to be missed. more

Consistently best sushi around 12/6/2007

I have been to the best sushi places in the US, from NYC to Vegas, and Kazu in Studio City consistently ranks up there on the top of my list. Everything that I order there has been very good and fresh. It is a small, hole in the wall without the fancy decor, but if you are a sushi lover, this is a MUST try. Everyone that I have taken to Kazu has raved about it and end up taking their spouses back with them. It is not cheap, but also not the most expensive, and you definitely get what you pay for in this case. Everything from the monkfish liver to the melt in your mouth toro is delicious. I have also found them to be very accommodating. My fiance has a gluten allergy, and once I mentioned that to the waitress, the chef prepared a special plate for her with that in mind. Pros: Fresh and great every time. Cons: Parking is limited. more

fat no good will waitress 7/19/2007

the chef's fine, the food's fine, everything is fine except the fat waitress - she tried to sell you other table than the one you choose, refuse to bring you wasabe telling you it's on your next order so you have to stop eating this plate and wait for it and don't have enough. make you order the minumum with the first order when we want to keep ordering until full and repeat some order. agree with everything dannyg9 said. all in all very horrible expensive, bad attitude and no good will - take your tums for breath mints. the seat are so close you have to eat with perfume and personal odors of next table and the noise of talk with your mouth full non stop chatter boxes. Pros: ok food Cons: ill will waitress more

Studio City's best kept secret 6/12/2006

Kazu has fish that rivals any LA hot spot you can mention, but you can almost always get a seat (even on the weekends!) and the omakase is to die for. Kazu is the only sushi chef behind the counter, and although not one for small talk, he cuts fish that melts in your mouth. It is not a discount sushi spot, but it is worth every penny. more

Best sushi in los angeles 4/30/2006

If you like the northern style of sushi, you'll love this place. If you're into creative rolls, stay away. Best fish in los angeles, melts in your mouth. Kazu consistently has the best toro and yellow tail belly around. if you're adventurous, try the candy crabs. Pros: Sushi more

Mr. Kazu 10/19/2005

Disrespectful, if you want to be treated like second rate customers go to Kazu Sushi. The service and disrespect shown to you will be the one thing you cannot fathom. The sushi itself is actually pretty decent, but I myself think it is not worth it. Kazu does what he wants even if a customer asks for slight variations or seating accomodations. Go at your own risk. Cons: Expensive, Bad Service more

one of the best 11/18/2004

kazu is simply one of the best places for sushi i have been to in the l.a. area. i HIGHLY RECOMMEND the omakase, or ""chef's special"". all of the fish is OUTSTANDING. i have never had anything bad. they won't serve anything bad. don't go expecting california rolls or spicy tuna rolls. get that somewhere else. if you are truly a fan of sushi, you will be more than satisfied. the fish is soooo tender it will melt in your mouth and your teeth will not be needed. one of the best!!! Pros: best fish, flavor more
