Buyer Beware!! Don't go there! 1/5/2014

Horrible experience buying new truck! I'm a 67 old man with Parkinsons who was fed a pack of lies to get me to wait for 3 hours in a stuffy room waiting for the accounting guy. By then I was tired and exhausted and ready to do anything to be free. I was not allowed to see the truck i was buying until I signed the papers, but by then all the people I had worked with were gone home. Once I got to touch the truck I saw that it had a bad clutch/trans, but was told that the popping and grinding was normal and Malone Toyota would do nothing for me. A nightmare! more

If I can give ZERO stars I would, this was probably the worst car buying experience I ever had. So I was getting quotes from multiple toyota dealerships then, STEVE ANDAS (Internet Sales Manager @ Karl Malone) called me and gave me what seemed to be the best deal compared to all other dealerships. He told me a price 'out of the door' and then asked me to drive down to Draper. I of course asked him to valid his quote in written (do this or else they will pull out a switcharoo on you) which he refused back and forth, then finally at my insistence I got him commit his quote on written. Everything seem fine we agree on the price, all I had to do is go down to the dealership and pick it up with the written on paper (email), half way (20 min drive) to the place STEVE ANDAS called me and said 'Oh, guess what? My manager can't approve the price I gave you in written'. Really, I should sue you and your dealership for false advertisement and bad customer service. Get a life and stop wasting buyers time. Moral of the story: DO NOT BUY FROM THEM, NOT EVEN IF YOU GET A WRITTEN QUOTE. LIKELY THEY WILL WASTE YOUR TIME DRIVING DOWN AND FOOL YOU. more

I had a FANTASTIC experience! Ti, we really appreciated all that you did for us! ... And the timeliness is worth shouting about! We were in and out and driving our new car home within hours! I was also impressed with how professional all the staff members were. Thank you! I would recommend Karl Malone Toyota to any customer! We will definitely return when the time arises. more

I went in with my girlfriend to visit with Jeff Robinett to talk about a Toyota Tacoma that she wanted. She had put a $1000 on a truck to get it down to the dealership in Draper, Utah. As a first time car buyer with exceptional credit he had a contract in hand explaining the gift of a 7.99% interest rate (with a $10000 down payment). Jeff explained that this was ""a gift"" and the Warren Buffet's of Karl Malone Toyota were ""the only ones in the world that could pull this off.""\r \r When I questioned the 7.99% APR and said it was high, to which Jeff agreed it was, Jeff went into divide and conquer mode. He immediately went on the attack with me and used all the dishonest sales tactics available. He tried to flatter my girlfriend and say that he trusted her and why should she not trust him. I became thoroughly disgusted with Jeff's behavior and when I told my girlfriend not to sign anything Jeff asked me what my problem was and implied I was a bad person or a jerk and was somehow trying to make myself look good... all the while destroying the deal of the century for my girlfriend.\r \r While my girlfriend continued to talk with Jeff I couldn't take any more of his blatant lies and walked out. He was just trying to pit me Vs her to get this sale. I could not deal with the totally unprofessional and unethical behavior. Luckily my girlfriend did not sign anything... although he made sure to have all the papers on the desk immediately when we looked at the car.\r \r We found a great late model used Tacoma at a good price at Mark Miller Subaru. The sales staff was very professional and listened to all of our concerns. There were no high-pressure sales tactics and the staff evaluated many financing options. Not only did we do better than 7.99% but instead got a 2.84% APR loan.\r \r Jeff Robinett- YOU are the reason that salesmen get a bad name. In terms of predatory lending and lack of business ethics YOU are the face. Maybe I'll put your name up under the definition of ""Predatory Lending"" on Wikipedia- you deserve it!\r \r But in all seriousness Jeff, I truly think you are a deep down bad person. I wish you difficulties and sadness in your life so that you can experience what you put other people through. May God have mercy on your soul!\r more

Worst Experience ever!!. Tokk our tacoma in for some work and were looking at trucks on lot. Turned 2 salesman away. The 3rd said give him 15 minutes. He could get us in a newer truck with a warranty for about the same payment. Since our tacoma needed almost $900.00 in service we decided to try. Our credit isn't the best, but we both are working and thought we'd give it a shot. We filled out the paperwork and after our salesman disappeared to go find more customers I guess, another one showed up to take over. We were shuffled to Ty in finance. He started printing up contracts and paperwork. We put down $2000.00 and they gave us $2500.00. They also were paying off our tacoma. He said it would be like a 2 week test drive until they get approval (unless he got answer back sooner). I've worked in dealerships for years, I didn't want to do that. We really wanted the tundra so we left with it. Ty called us within the hour and said he got an approval from the bank. We went back in to resign new contracts. We left with the truck, and we were happy. We cancelled the GAP insurance on our tacoma, changed the insurance over, and I bought wind deflectors for the new truck. Well 2 weeks later I get a call from Jim, Sales manager saying our income to debt ratio doesn't compute. We needed to come back in and see Ty, probably have to put down another $1900.00. Theyre paperwork ask for gross monthly income. That's what I listed. I went in to see them. Jim was nowhere around, and Ty acted like he didn't know who I was, and pretty much insinuated that we lied on the application. He said it was an oversite on both parts. We bought vehicles last year a week apart, made less money, had the same bills, paid more in rent, and got approved. They just didn't want to eat the $1700.00 they were into the deal. I have never been so humiliated in my life. I was made to feel like a liar, and now I have no GAP insurance on our Tacoma. Stay away from Karl Malone Toyota. more

HORRIBLE TERRIBLE THE WORST DO NOT GO. I went in looking for a new or used Toyota Tacoma. After I told the sales guy (I think his name was Mike) what I wanted he insisted we go for a test drive. I had driven the exact truck at a dealership only two days previous so I said I did not need to do another test drive, but was looking for a particular color and trip package. He insisted we go for a test drive ""cause his boss would get mad at him if we didn't"" so I went. We then went back in and sat down at his desk. That is when the pressure tactics started. ""Sign this form so we know you are serious and if we can find you the right car you will buy tonight"" Really you want me to sign a form saying I agree to buy before we have even talked about price or trad-in value? Total pressure crap. He then took the keys to my 2002 Volvo XC70 that I wanted to trade and presented me with details on a truck with the right color but a trim package slightly different than what I wanted. When I asked about the differences, he had no knowledge of what a locking rear differential was and had to go consult a manager. When it became clear that the options I wanted were in a different trim package, I asked what the price difference would be and the salesman said ""a couple thousand dollars"" That is not true. While he was in getting the keys for the test drive, which I did not want to take, I looked at several different stickers and the price difference was actually $590. He said $2,000 likely because he did not want to try to locate another truck with the options I wanted and wanted to pressure me to buy the truck he had already located. Then came back their initial trade in offer, $600. Now I know dealers don't give a lot for trades, but I purchased my Volvo for $3,900 6 months previous and had been watching prices for 3 months before that. $3900 was by far the lowest, way below blue book and CarFax lowest price. This offer was not only offensive, but a thinly veiled attempt to rip me off. So, I wised up, called the salesman out on his BS and asked for my keys back. He initially would not give them to me and said I should talk to his manager. The manager came out, but without my keys and asked if there was anything he could do. At this point I got angry about them holding my keys hostage and said the only thing he could do was get my keys or things would get ugly. He finally got them and I walked out. I will never return and will tell everyone I know (I am fairly well known in the outdoors community in Utah) to never ever under any circumstances go to Karl Malone Toyota for any reason. more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE place to go! Do NOT go there! They sold me a car with a faulty transmission in it. Less then a week later I tried to take it back and they would not allow it. Nor would they allow me to take it with me for a day to see how I liked it to make sure everything was ok with the vehicle! I would give this LESS then one star, and Jim Johns was my sales person. He was horrible and they will not fix ANYTHING on the vehicle even if you get there really expensive overpriced insurance. BEWARE, go elsewhere for your own sake! more

Karl Malone Toyota WORST Dealership IN UTAH!! 11/26/2011

I shouldn't even put a star but gave them one for the fact the guy who always washed my car was courteous and respectful unlike everyone else in the service area. Bought my 2009 Toyota Camry XLE brand new from them and always had it serviced by them until the car started falling apart at 20K miles and that's when the fun began. The car was a flat out LEMON with continuous navigation, steering, power windows, driver seat, rattling interior problems but continued to bring it in over and over again until the warranty hit 36K miles and the car started shaking really badly in gear or at a complete stop, stop signs, stop lights etc. Took the car to them and they would completely blow me off even when I had an appointment over and over again! Took it back again and they said they would look at it and said they compared my car to another and that at 36K IT IS CONSIDERED OLD AND NORMAL TO SHAKE. The guy honestly WAS AN IDIOT. I have had other cars in the past that had over 180,000 that RAN better than this car. They told me that the car is out of warranty BY ONLY 1200 MILES and that I would have to pay to have it looked at! I got so mad that I took the car to a small Toyota repair shop in Provo and he found the problem FOR FREE in 20 minutes! Found it to be a Transmission mount was broken and shaking the car really badly. Everything on that car breaks and I treat it like a Mercedes. All I can say is DON'T GO TO THE BACK STABBING KARL MALONE STEALERSHIP. They DO NOT care about service and as a customer your NEVER right and the IDIOT to them when they look at you. IF YOUR READING THIS KARL MALONE I WILL NEVER EVER TRADE OR BUY A NEW CAR FROM YOU AGAIN!!!! more

Never go to them 11/2/2011

Would not give them any stars but had to give them at least one. Tried to put warranty charge of $1300 on the bill after the contract was signed. Gave me a 7.9% interest rate for 6 years after I told them I wanted a 5 year loan. Got my own loan for 2.9%. Finance person terrible. Tried to scare me into signing for the higher rate. When he couldnt get to me he got mad and call me a crook. Had to call a manager and settle this with him. Watch out for them. more

Worst Car Buying Experience - EVER!! 10/18/2011

These guys are a joke!!! I bought an FJ from them last year and my wife decided she wanted a Highlander instead. I took the car in and thought I'd get treated well because I was a repeat customer - WRONG. The finance guy who worked me (his name is TY) oversold and was very pushy telling me that they were making no money on my deal. We gave them a down payment and told them we'd pick up the car and get the contract done the next day. Feeling un-easy with the pushy finance guy (his name is TY - I'll say it again!!), I decided to call Mark Miller Toyota who I've never done business with in the past. Telling the sales rep what I wanted out of my trade and what I was willing to pay for the car, I got a deal for $850 less and 1.9% financing (BTW TY at Karl Malone was giving me 2.9% - BTW, Toyota is offering the 1.9% on Highlanders - so he was screwing me on that as well). When I went into Karl Malone and told them the deal was off, Ty went crazy - gave the the I'm going to kick your butt look, demanded respect, went off yelling through the dealership - totally not what I expected or deserved being a return customer. He even told the sales rep to ask me for some compensation money since I wasted his time - I'm not kidding. WHO ARE THESE IDIOTS????\r I live close to the Karl Malone store but bought my car 20 miles away at Mark Miller and will also do my service there. You will not see my shadow, or my family's shadow darken their doors - EVER!!\r BTW, I ususally buy 1-2 new cars each year. I've mostly bought Honda's but I've been leaning toward Toyota as of late. Not only did Karl Malone miss out on a $34K Highlander deal, but before the end of this year, I'm also going to buy a $35K Avalon - FROM MARK MILLER.\r Eat me TY!!! You shouldn't be working around the public - you need to see a doctor for your anger.\r more

Don't Trust These Reviews! 4/26/2011

Just a warning. I've been to Karl Malone Toyota and so far the experience has been ok. However, after reading the reviews, and looking at each users profile, you'll notice that all of them, with the exception of the single one star review are all done by the same person. click on each user name and then look at all of the reviews they've done. They are all the same businesses, with several car dealerships reviews for each single name. How many cars can a single person buy within a 6 month period? If you look at all user profiles and reviews you will see the pattern. This site isn't reliable for accurate and fair reviews. more

READ EVERYTHING SIGN NOTHING 3/22/2011

Oh my WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!! We test drove a Camry SE, Loved it just not the color. The salesman said we could get the "SAME CAR IN THE COLOR WE WANTED". We spent hours going back and forth on the price. Finally we agreed on a price. We went to finance and asked to see the Specs of this car we were about to purchase after reviewing them we discovered that the car they were getting us was not the same but a basic model with the up price. After our discovery the finance man called in the salesman he said Oh ya well the car you want is a week or so out. He was going to have us sign for a car that we had no interest in. They have no ethics. I'm Very Happy that we did not sign anything. We left after 5 1/2 hours. We drove 30 miles and got the car we wanted with everything. more

We very much appreciated that 2/2/2011

We were awarded a Karl Malone gift card, and lost/misplaced it. We reported the loss to the dealership, and they were able to reissue the gift card. We very much appreciated that, as it was a consideration in the initial lease agreement. more

Everyone was very friendly and willing to help 1/31/2011

Everyone was very friendly and willing to help. David Hicks was very educated and helpful. He has a lot of enthusiasm and made sure I was happy and content with my purchase. The willingness of my salesperson to make sure everything was as it should be. I think this was one of the best experiences I have had buying a car. I can't really think of anything that needs improvement. more
