Stands by their work 8/19/2015

I had a brand new Goodman unit complete with all new duct work, etc... installed by Kaminer in 1/10, since then I have had the unit go completely down 4 times. I tried working with Kaminer for the first couple of years to get the problems resolved but finally I have turned to another more reliable company for service. The first time the unit went down the unit was about 1 year old. The motor had burned out. it took Kaminer 1 week to install the new motor on the VERY EXPENSIVE unit they had just sold me. During that time i had no AC and it was over 90 degress inside my home. Yesterday I got home and had no AC again so I called the company I now use for service. NOT KAMINER!!! The motor was burned out again. They had the motor replaced and AC working again in less than 3 hours. One other time it went down and when the techincian from Kaminer arrived he informed me it was down beacuse of a clogged drain line. Kaminer's techinian had been to my house just a few days before to service the unit and had checked the box that the drain line had been flushed during his routine inspection when it clearly had not been. I have had nothing but problems with it since it was installed . Everytime I called Todd about these problems he would blame it on his employees not doing their jobs right. Well, I have moved on to a another company that has employees that know what they are doing. I still have a very expensive AC unit that is unreliable but i do have a new company that can fix it when it breaks down. I will never allow anyone from Kaminer into my home again. more

Walt is a real asset to Kaminer. He is professional and I believe cares. (Five Stars) What he recommends make sense and spells out why. It is unfortunate that due to past service issues his recommendations come across as statements to cover Kaminer WHEN my unit fails, not IF. I have a long term commitment to Kaminer due to the warranty. It is unfortunate I have this attitude about your company. You serviced (not installed) my original unit that lasted 18 years with no issues. The new unit installed by Kaminer damaged my home within the first 3-4 years and when I asked for financial assistance none was offered. Not even splitting a $500.00 deductible. This decision I was told went all the way to Todd Kaminer himself. Thus my attitude towards your company,is in this e mail and also in conversation with peers and family alike. We are considering Walts recommendation only due to our lack of confidence in a unit that was installed by Kaminer. If I had a choice of any technicians to visit my home Walt would be a homerun everytime.. Kaminer as a whole (2 Stars) more

Unbeknownst to me, the installer cut the wooden members of my roof truss without my knowledge and then kept this information secret. I only found out years later when another HVAC company was repairing the unit that Kaminer installed. It cost $1680 to repair the truss!DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! They are cheats and liars. I forced them to sue me in order for me to pay them because it took a full calendar week for them to get my new air conditioner unit working when it should have taken a few hours. They left a part completely off the unit which was necessary to for it to cool properly. They came out and told me that the unit was working properly. I had them measure the temperature of the air coming out of the vents and only then did they actually agree that someething was wrong. The heating elements didn't work that next winter and they had to come replace the heating elements. They lost the key to my house and could not even start until i got home. They damaged my washer and dryer and the access to my attic which is above the washer and dryer. They didn't install the unit properly and the condensation overflowed into the ceiling of the bedroom below the unit in the attic. The heating elements didn't work that next winter and they had to come replace the heating elements. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! more

I'm not sure if this is the site to say this, but Saturday sept 14 my car broke down. Many cars passed by without offering any help, I'm an older lady who knows nothing about fixing cars. My husband is out of town with work and I was waiting for a tow truck who said it'd be about 45-90 mins before he could get to me, I was off Harbison by best buy and Walmart, as I was about to walk to Walmart a yellow van pulled up. It was the yellow kaminer heating and cooling van, a young white man got out and asked if I needed any help. I told him what happened he poped my hood open and within 5-10 mins he had found the problem and fixed it. It cranked right up and he explained to me what he did, and till this day I haven't had a problem with my car. I offered him some cash for his assistance but he wouldn't take it. I'm not sure how old he was maybe 22-23 yrs old but he was very polite, professional, and smart. I wish I could Remember his name, also before he left he handed me a kaminer pen and magnet and told me next time I have any hvac questions or need any service call kaminer, he made me promise that I'd call kaminer when my next service is do. I will keep my promise and will refer kaminer to many friends and family. more

Poor and overpriced services 11/7/2012

Ropes you into a service contract and then doesn't deliver - and then discontinues your service when they have to come out for other than the bi-annual service. The fees are exorbinant. Please check out what the price they pay for RR22 freon too - they will say there is a shortage and prices are high. They pay roughly $60 - $100 for $30 lbs of freon and will charge you roughly $67.00 per pound for freon - 3lbsX37 = $121.00, and$100 plus fee to instill it and an EPA fee. One -there is no shortage and the R22 is expected to be around for the next 10 yrs. 2) uses the fact that they have been in business for x amount of years as their ""honesty"" factor Cons: poor service and overpriced more

Overpriced and Dishonest 10/13/2011

We own a house in Columbia SC, and were forced to move out of Columbia and turn the property into a rental house when we moved. Once the house was rented, we listed Kaminer Heating and Air with our property management company as the emergency contact for HVAC issues (more on that later). Additionally, we entered a service contract with Kaminer to receive HVAC service every six months in early 2010 - the contract terms included a monthly charge of $20. A Kaminer representative arrived in late 2010, and informed us through a phone call that the service for which we had contracted was unavailable to be provided. Somehow, the position of the heating unit was 'impossible' to reach or service. No service was provided, and the $20 a month charges continued. The following spring, a similar call occurred, and a similar lack of service occurred. The monthly $20 charges continued. The HVAC unit went over 1.5 years without receiving any service. This past summer, (2011) the air conditioning unit failed on the tenants in the property. They called the property manager, who called Kaminer. Kaminer went out to the property, and called me. They said that, due to the lack of service the unit had received, it needed a cleaning that would cost around $1200, and more likely needed the unit to be replaced at an estimate of $6000. The cleaning that was necessary was the same cleaning that was supposed to be provided by the service contract originally entered into in 2010. I declined either of these offers from Kaminer. Kaminer then charged me $99 for the service call, and billed the account associated with the contract without my consent. I have had NUMEROUS conversations with Kaminer representatives, each time where this chain of events is walked through and an offered resolution is agreed to by the Kaminer rep. I have asked to have the contract annulled, to have the money charged for the months where service was unable to be provided to be refunded, and to have the charges for the service call rescinded. They agree to these terms at the end of the call, hang up, and promise they will call back to confirm the resolution. However, my account still gets charged, and they haven't provided any meaningful counteroffer or argument. They simply avoid responding and continue to charge me for a service I can't even receive. Resolution: As described above, I request the following: I have asked to have the contract annulled, to have the money charged for the months where service was unable to be provided to be refunded, and to have the charges for the service call rescinded. I am simply asking for a return of the money that I have been charged for services that Kaminer admits they never provided nor could ever provide. I would like to resolve this manner, and not be cheated out of this money. more
