KOI Piercing Studio

I went into Koi after doing some research and reading all the great reviews for them here on CitySearch, and I'm happy to be able to contribute my positive review to the list! I walked in to get an industrial (no, you dont HAVE to make an appointment at this shop but I would recommend it. I went on a Saturday and it was busy....my wait wasn't longer than like 8 or 9 minutes though) and everyone was super nice. DJ did my piercing and he was extremely polite and professional. He explained everything he was doing and was as gentle as a piercer can be! And as far as cleanliness goes, you could not ask for a more sterile shop. I had a wonderful experience, I'm so happy with my piercing, I will be recommending Koi to everyone looking to get pierced! (P.S. my piercing was like 60 something $. Price depends on the area you pierce, and then of course a tip should be left. I would've paid more because of the wonderful I experience I had though!) more

I went to koi on friday and walked in to get my tongue pierced, i didn't have to wait very long, they were very very friendly, they did it quick and simply. She did a wonderful job on piercing my tongue, it looks great, and it didn't hurt at all, and my swelling has pretty much already gone down, the lady that did it is Jen, she was quick, and very nice!!! i have not had any problems! and i loved it! they even told me everything i'm going to need to do. i would send anyone there if they asked me, and i will be going back there to do the rest of my piercings and tattoos! (MANY MORE TO COME) EXCELLENT JOB!!!! more

I got my lip pierced there two years ago and it didn't even swell! The guy who did it for me was very knowledgeable. My lip piercing was beautiful then and still is to this day! Never infected. I love it so much! Pros: Friendly Staff Cons: Small Parking Lot more

i went to koi originally with my friend kinsey she got her neck pierced, the guy who did it was funny, the work he did was super clean, he made her feel comfortable and her piercings look great, she's never had a problem with them. I went back a month or so later and got my hood pierced, jen (the girl there) she made me feel comfortable, she was very calm and did a quick great job, i love my piercing and i will go back for every piercing i get from here on out. The ladies at the front were so helpful, i ve never had such great customer care. their studio has a great vibe, and the people there are unique and very cool. if you are going to get a piercing i wouldnt suggest anywhere else but koi! I went to Koi to get my septum pierced due to overwhelming good feedback I've heard. When I went in, I already felt in safe hands in the peaceful and clean atmosphere. You could even smell the clean! It was a sweet lady named Melissa working up front. She was very kind and knowledgeable, answering all my questions and educating me about jewelry. There was one person ahead of me, and she was in the back for a while and came out happy, so I could already tell she had been well taken care of. D.J. did my piercing. He made sure to clean the area thoroughly and spent quite a bit of time poking my septum with the needle beforehand to find my ""sweet spot."" When he pierced it, it barely hurt at all. He even wiped the tears from my eyes afterward with a sponge lol. He was very nice and professional. It's been about a month since this, and my septum is healing without any complications. In a few months when I can put a ring in it, I'll be going back to Koi! If you want to get a piercing, or even have questions about it, go here. They are definitely the best place in the state! I have had three piercings done at Koi in the last year. One was simple and the other are a little more intense. All three were done quickly, and though I can't say they were painless or even close to that, they were done with precision and care. I trust their piercers and their opinions and experience. I recommend them to everyone. Their cost is worth every penny of the price. They are also very good about taking care of their guests long after the piercing process, with the knowledge to answer any questions and genuine desire for you to be comfortable with your piercing. I had my first piercing with Koi and they did a phenomenal job! I was impressed with their professionalism, friendliness, fair prices and beautiful office. They are extremely clean and detail oriented. DJ did wonderful job of placement and explanation. They process was pretty darn close to painless. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! more

All my friends that have piercing, all ways told me that KOI is only one place that they get there's done, and now i know why. I went in for a septum piercing(my first piercing as well). The lady that was helping me was extremely helpful!!! She showed me all the types of jewelry that i could use and got me all ready to go. Then Jen took me into an extremely clean room to prep me for the piercing. Jen was super professional and explained everything thing that she was doing. Which made me feel really comfortable with her. In the end the piercing was so smooth that it didn't even hurt. This is truly the best place to get you're piercing done! I went to koi on my 18th birthday to get snakebites and to get my ears pieced. The waiting room was filled with an amazing selection of exotic jewelry. Jen and DJ were working and they were very kind and proffesional. They answered what questions I had, and cleared up all the confusion I had about keeping my piercings clean. They took the piercings I had brought with me but the lip spikes I had brought in were too short to make up for swelling. Jen helped me pick studs that would look good with the placement I was getting. DJ did my piercings and I recomend him too anyone open for suggestion. He was extremely clean (changed his gloves 4 times) and very helpfull when it came to placing it so it would look good on my face specifically. He eased my nerves and explained to me everything he was doing. My piercings went great. However one of the lip spikes had a slight funny angle. He fixed it immediatly and helped me through re-doing the piercing. I'm going to return for any piercing that the future may hold! I am also a first timer to this studio and was thoroughly impressed. I came in with my husband and got a VCH piercing ~ Very exciting. The woman at front was extremely helpful and answered all my questions ~ The energy in the building was amazing. The man who performed the piercing was also SUPER professional and very kind. I was MORE than comfortable! Recommended as 1st choice studio to everyone! I went there to get an ear piercing and it was my very first time going to a place like this. It was different and I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but no matter what you're having pierced, I would recommend this place! The staff was highly professional and DJ my piercer was first rate! Over the past 3 months I have had 2 piercings done at Koi. I keep returning because this is an amazing studio with an amazing staff. The girls that work the front are so friendly and adorable. They are attentive, knowledgeable, and professional. They make anyone from any walk of life feel comfortable. As far as the piercers, they are truly the best. Ed (he's no longer there but I would still like to acknowledge the quality of the staff they bring in) did my first piercing which was a pretty painful one, he made me feel totally comfortable and helped me with placement which I'm SO glad he did, otherwise, I don't think it would have turned out as flattering on my anatomy. Patrick did my 2nd which is a surface anchor. I was totally freaked out and he made it a breeze. He eased my anxiety with humor and the placement is PERFECT! To top it off, as if I wasn't happy enough, he actually sent me a text message about a month later to make sure everything was going well. My friend had the same piercing done and she also received a text. I am so impressed that he actually takes the time to check up with past clients and wants to know whether their piercing experience has been good or bad. I wasn't expecting that. I have returned a couple times to buy more H2Ocean and every time they are always willing to answer my questions and even just chat. I bought a pair of earrings from there the other day and the female piercer (sorry I can't remember her name) did a taper test on me to see if the gauge of earrings would fit me and again, I was impressed way beyond my expectations! This studio goes above and beyond in every aspect of their business, from the selection of unique jewelry, to the passion of the art, to the cleanliness (I think this place is cleaner than most hospitals), to the care of the customer. I've been to Koi for multiple piercings and have never had a bad experience. I recently went there for 4 surface anchors on my hips and Patrick was my piercer. He did an excellent job and both making it a confortable environment and with the piercing itself. The rest of the staff was super nice and you could tell they definatly cared about the well being of all the people who came there. I would definatly recommend going here for your piercing. I would especially recommend Patrick as the piercer, however they are all amazing and I know the experience would be a good one regardless of who you does it. more

I had been looking into having my nose pierced for a while, but was concerned about the possible complications that could arise from it. Went into Koi and the receptionist was excellent in politely answering all of my questions and putting me at ease. Very clean, nice environment. D.J. (or maybe it was E.J.) did the piercing, and was very sweet and polite. Made sure I was comfortable, and made conversation with me. Explained everything he was doing, and what it was for, as he was doing it. Told me to take a deep breath, then pushed the needle through. It was a fast pinch, then my eye watered a bit. That was it. He even wiped the tear off my face so it wouldn't mess my makeup up! What a sweetheart!\r \r HIGHLY Recommended! Pros: Fast, Low Cost, Nice atmosphere. Cons: None! When I got my piercings at Koi, everybody and everything there was great! My piercer was Patrick and he was very professional, did a great job and put me at ease even though the area he was piercing was rather painful. The prices you pay for the services you get are great. I recently went to Koi to get my eyebrow pierced, and had it done by Ed. I cannot say enough about the place. This was my first non-ear piercing and I was incredibly nervous, but Ed and the girl working at the counter were very soothing and sweet, and made the experience incredibly enjoyable. The piercing was fast, clean, and very professionally done, and I barely felt a thing. Ed suggested a placement for my piercing, and explained why he thought it would look best there, and made sure it was exactly what I wanted before actually piercing it. A few days after, a bruise formed (I bruise really easily) and it started bleeding, and I called to check and make sure this was normal, and they were very knowledgeable and insisted that I come in at any point if I wanted someone to check it out. The service was fantastic, they make you feel very valued as a customer and they have a very clean environment. If you're getting a piercing done, choose Koi! On a recent trip to Salt Lake City, I decided that I would really love to get my nose pierced. My partner had been to Koi before, and said that it was the only place that she would let me get it done. I am so glad that I listened to her! Let me tell you that this is the cleanest, most professional, friendliest piercing studio you could ask for. The jewelry is absolutely beautiful, and well made. They will even help you change your piercing for the first time for free so that you know how to do it. I would HIGHLY reccomend going to Koi for your first/next piercing! Wow! What a great experience we had at Koi! My daughter has waited years to have her ears pierced and we couldn't have asked for a better result. We went to KOI because I didn't want to take my chances with some teenage girl working an after-school job at the mall jewelry store. We wanted a professional and KOI was great. My daughter is 10 and absolutely hates needles. She was almost in tears when we first got there because all her friends had their ears pierced with a gun. Ed took us back to a PRIVATE room and explained to her what would happen. He explained that the earring has a hollow post that fits onto the end of the needle.and as the needle is pulled out, the earring goes in. He was so kind to her and talked with her about how to use her breathing to relax and help the process along. The rooms and tools were as sterlie as an O.R. and Ed changed his gloves 3 times to maintain that sterlie envionment. I truly appreciated the fact that he spent a lot of time analyzing her ear anatomy and how her ears lined up with one another. A true artist! Only then did he place and replace the dots marking the spots for the piercing. He then had her lay down on a bed and turn her head away from the action so that she never saw the needle. A deep breath in, a breath out and the needle was through. Amazing! She didn't flinch a bit and no tears were shed. All the way home she talked about how ""awesome"" Ed was and how she'll always be grateful to him for making what she thought would be a scary and painful event, go so smoothly. My younger daughter was allowed to watch and, as a result, will not be afraid of piercing when it's her turn. Please take your children to professionals who know what they're doing. For the record, I had never been into a piercing studio before. Don't let the body piercing aspect of Koi think you can't take young children there. They were wonderful with my daughter and made it a wonderful, memorable experience for us. Pros: Kind, caring professionals who know what they're doing. They're artists!
