In January 2010, we knew it was time to do something about our financial situation. So we hired a California law group to negotiate mortgage loan modifications. It took them six months to submit the request, Unfortunately, the mods were only for 12 months at the tune of $3,500 (up front!). It saved us about $3K over the next year. In essense,it was an exercise in futility. Our only other option was Bankruptcy. We almost went with another firm but something was amiss so we changed our minds at the last minute. Had we signed, we would have filed a chapter 13 and paid $3,500 to the firm, not including filing fees. etc. Here's where Michael Jude came in. I called the firm simply because of the name. I am a huge fan of Jude Law. Silly, I know, but I saw it as a sign. That was in mid-February. Once we met with Micheal, he explained everything. We thought we wanted to file a 13, but he convinced us that a 7 was the way to go and why. He made so much sense and gave us the confidence we needed to do what most people shy away from. When he stated the fees, I was in shock, but in a good way! The staff at Michael's office are top notch pros and Michael is involved with all his cases. He has a terrific (almost biting) sense of humor which made me feel good about him. He didn't pull any of his punches and was straight forward with us. I quit worrying and just followed his instructions. It was the best move we've ever made. Thank you Michael for all that you did for us. Hats off to your staff too - always pleasant and smiling and most of all extremely knowledgable. Having breathing room again is priceless.
