Jorge's Mexican Restaurant

I ate here one evening with a total party of 7 people. We were quoted 30 minutes. We waited over an hour as they sat every table before us. We were hungry, so we waited. We set our name on the list at 7pm. At 7:35 we inform them that we will gladly take two tables. We were seated at 8:05. Our waitress took 15 minutes to get to us to take our orders. We got our food at 8:45. Half of the party's food was cold. The other half's orders were wrong. We get the bill. Ten minutes after they clear our plates. The waitress was busy counting tips at the table next to us. They won't calculate separate checks for us and they charged us for things we never received or ordered. Okay, now I'm mad. So I ask for the manager, whom asks me to wait as he is on a personal cell phone call in the middle of the dining room. He finally gets off the cell phone. I explain all of the above issues. He runs to the back to show us his wait list and points out that one of the tables in the dining room ordered a second round of drinks so he couldn't have used that table. He kindly explains to me that 'You just don't understand how a restaurant works."" I was a Restaurant, Bar and Banquet Manager for several locations for 5 years. But I don't understand the restaurant business. I say ""Fine. Take all the errors off our $98 bill and we will go. This is the first and last time I have eaten here."" Did I mention that we had two children and no alcohol on that bill? He says to pay it as it is and then go on my way. I am willing to bet money this guy is related to the owner as well, as he smugly told me multiple times ""Go on call the owner and we'll just see what happens."" I would not recommend this type of service for my worst enemy. The food, after it was microwaved, was so-so. Much like Albertacos. Or Alphonsos. The service and attitude of the waitstaff was appalling. There was one buslady who was fabulous, great attitude and very helpful. I give the one star to her. Additionally, their salsa is squeezed from a diner style ketchup bottle into a bowl the waitress pulled from her apron. I am fairly certain carrying things people will eat on from your dirty money covered apron is unsanitary, if not illegal. As a guy in my party said That ketchup bottle salsa, Top Notch! Classy! more

We stopped at Jorge's for lunch while visiting all the shops in Old Colorado City. The decor and atmosphere are nice and our waiter was great. Sadly that's the end of the positive. I ordered enchiladas. First of all they were made with ground hamburger, not shredded beef. I expect more from a restaurant. The hamburger didn't appear to have even been drained, it was that greasy. And Bland, bland, bland. I can honestly say that these were the worst enchiladas I have ever had. My wife was so disappointed in her entree she sent it back (can't remember what she ordered, and they didn't charge us for hers). I was absolutely starving so actually ate a fair amount of mine. Old Colorado City is great, and Jorge's has a nice atmosphere. So if you're looking for a place to take a load off between shops and have a couple of drinks and maybe some chips and salsa, Jorge's would be an ok place to stop. But if you're looking for a meal, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. more

Went to eat here last week with my brother as I was in the area. I believe this is the first Mexican restaurant I have been in that chips and salsa weren't complementary. You pay $3 extra for them here and you only get one serving. The salsa is great though. Went for lunch and had a very good server and he was attentive throughout the meal. Large portions but not much taste to anything. Got a burrito which was 9 or 10 dollars but the meat hadn't been seasoned at all and nothing had much of any taste. Also, the worst part was a girl who I presume worked there, although she didn't seem to do anything, she sat and watched soaps on a large flat screen in the same room we were in the whole time we were there, and had the TV so loud we couldn't hardly hear one another. Doesn't seem to be any kind of manager there, or if there is one, they aren't doing what they should be doing. I hope the owner sees this review and does something to improve the situation.
