Johnny Carino's 4/14/2006

There are only two places to get Italian food in Auburn, Johnny Carino's and Provino's. I prefer Johnny Carino's. I find them to be much more reasonably priced and their portions are bigger. I have had the Lasagna, shrimp scampi and the ravioli. They were all wonderful. The shrimp scampi is my favorite, it is a large portion and comes with a light butter/wine sauce. Ofcourse, bread and salad come with every meal. They give you a loaf of Italian bread and then make an olive oil and freshly groud pepper dip for it. It's wonderful! The only problem I've had is that the smoking section is in the bar and, when the restaurant is not too busy, the smoking section servers are also the bartenders. Because their main job is not to serve they often forget about you so the service will seem slow and your drink will sit empty for a little while. During dinner hours this is not usually a problem. more

Johnny Carinos - Great Italian Dining. 4/12/2006

Johnny Carions is my desired location when wanting Italian food in Auburn. Concerning price, it is more affordable than other options in Auburn, but still offers great food. I have never had a bad experience while eating their. I recommend the Homemade Lasagna, which is great. Sometimes there is a wait, but it is not usually more than 20 minutes. Benches are provided for you to sit and wait. The ambiance is romantic and they have a nice selection of wines. So next time you are not sure what to eat, give Johnny Carinos a shot. more

Wasn't too impressed 3/31/2006

When we dined here, it was average Italian food (at best). The server was helpful and friendly, and the food was okay. Our food tasted as though it had been sitting for quite some time. The dessert was not good; the tiramisu tasted as though it had come directly from a box I could have purchased at the grocery store for a fraction of the cost). There wasn't a wait and it was clean, but I think there are better Italian restaurants in Auburn. more

Nice place for a date 8/29/2005

The food is good are they serve an ample portion of it. The roasted garlic, dipping oil, and fresh bread they serve upon arrival is delicious...and complimentary. By all means, request basalmic vinegar to go with that too! The service is friendly but can be inefficient at times. The restrooms are very clean. The atmosphere is very fitting for an Italian restaurant. This is a popular place and can be quite busy on weekends. Sometimes you must wait for a table because of the popularity. Parking is usally not a problem though. Their white chocolate martinis are the best I've ever had. more
