I HATED this place so much I made my first online review 6/18/2011

I'm not picky when it comes to bars/restaurants but this place was AWFUL. The place has some great potential but is run horribley. The service, the atmosphere, and the attitude put together makes this place more of an infuriating hassel than a good time. What really did it for me seeing how the place was run. The managers were incompetent, unhelpful, and some of the rudest people I've ever seen operating a business. Save your money and go someplace else. Even drinking out of a paper bag on the curb would have more class than this place. more

This is a rael tourist trap! $20 tab before they will take plastic. Bartenders are sloooow. Could not accomodate 15 people with a table or tables. Could not drink in ""eating area"" more

Excellent Venue 12/14/2010

This place is really cool and I must say riding the bull is quite the entertaining. I went here with a large group from work and we had a list at the door, setup by AccessGotham. com. We were a group of 20 or so and we had a waitress and were placed in a nice location inside. All in all we were given the royal treatment the moment we stepped on line til we left. I decided to be the first to ride the bull and I got tossed almost instantly but it was so much fun. Great after work place! more

Great Pregame Spot! 12/11/2010

Johnny Utah's is one of the best places to start off a night in the city. Usually my friends and I setup up an open bar there through AccessGotham. com. All the girls love riding the mechanical bull and it's quite entertaining watching them do so. The bartenders are all friendly and extremely cute. The music is excellent too and overall the place has solid vibes. more

$20 cover charge on Saturday night???? For what??? Mechanical bull in Midtown - it's definitely a fun idea. Problem is the attitude of the people running it. There was a line waiting to ride, but the staff only took ladies in short skirts, and black people. I get that we all want look at the ladies, but -- some fairness please? This is not an exclusive club. I want two hours of my life and my $20 back! more

Johnny Utah's is awesome 4/16/2010

I actually only went here because my friend and I saw a dressed up person in a bull outfit and saw the signing that said, ""Nightly bull riding"" and we had to go! You didn't need money or anything to get in and ride the bull. Money was only for drinks and food. If you don't want food and/or drinks, it's free. So I'm always for that! It was 8pm and PACKED. You could hardly walk in there. But I will be going there for my next b-day and every other time I'm in NYC. I rode the bull and enjoyed it. It was awesome! Good times for my birthday 2/3/2010

I celebrated my birthday at Johnny Utah's last week. I haven't had this much fun in NYC in the last 2 years. I had dinner in the restaurant with a group of 15 close friends and then we stayed for the party scene after 11 PM. We sat in a private dining room which was very cool, since I wanted to spend quality time with my close friends. After 11, the place turned into a very fun party scene. I jumped on the bull and so did my entire group. The bull operator made us feel very comfortable and adjusted the levels depending on how good we all were. The entire place was cheering our name, which was very exciting. I've been doing the whole ""club scene"" the past 5 yeras. I wanted something different and non-pretentious. This was exactly that and I recommend it to any person wanting to actually have FUN on their birthday. Pros: Easy entry, solid food, great atmosphere, quality service Cons: Can't list any...I had a blast more

HORRIBLE RACIST BAR 1/19/2010

i waited over 40 minutes to get a drink at the bar only to be ignored FIVE times by both bartenders. they saw me wave at them five times as they went up and down the bar! one of the bartenders told me ""i cant serve you"" and then went on to the WHITE person standing next to me. my other asian friend was standing at the opposite end of the bar and she was having the same problem too!! so luckily we came with a white friend who went up to the bar, stood where I was standing, and she ordered our drinks in 10 minutes!!!! WHAT THE HELL. DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR.. THEY ARE RACISTS HERE."" honestly, the time it took the bartender to say that she could have been pouring my drink.. Cons: racist bartenders more

So I completely disagree with pee up there! I went into Johnny Utah's the other night for dinner and had a great time! The cute guy in the cowboy hat made sure that we were totally happy and our server was fantastic. I also find it ironic that pee is calling them racist, when a manager who happens to be ASIAN came over to see if we were happy with our meal. So from one asian to another, you should think before you speak. Pros: Great atmosphere! more

I went here with a bunch of my friends last weekend, the scene was unreal. Had no idea such an attractive and fun crowd would be here. Went back this week and it was just as good. Will definitely go back again - astoundingly hot crowd! Pros: attractive crowd more

Went here with some friends for happy hour. Had a great atmosphere and didnt feel like a dirty bar. The crowd is fun, the staff is great and the food is even better. Plan on making this a weekly occassion. Pros: mechanical buffalo! more

I had a great time! 7/20/2009

I recently threw my birthday party here and I had one of my best birthday parties ever. It was casual but classy, had a nice crowd and the dj played an interesting but good mix of old-school and contemporary music. I made reservation for a party of about 30-40 or so through birthdaypartybooker, which got me a pretty big room in the back, and the managers treated me and my guests very well. I highly recommend this spot. Pros: Mechanical-bull; good drinks; friendly accomodating staff more

Love this place. Clean, classy, authentic and fun. Its a bar but without the stink and rough/sleezy looking crowd. The staff here rocks. The food is better than expected for bar food. The steak is incredible and so is the garlic bread. I had an issue with one of the dishes our table ordered and it was no problem to send it back to the kitchen for another try. Love the respect for the customer and they have made a loyal customer out of me. Word of mouth is the best advertising. more

I work two blocks from this bar, it is a chill place on the weekdays, never eaten here so can't comment on food. Only thing I don't like is how crowded it gets, need to control the crowd coming in. Go here on a Monday night if you want t good crowd. more
