J.D. Floor Store replaced our upstairs flooring. They were always on time and they exceeded my expectations. I'm very happy with them.

These guys came on with an excellant sales pitch, made claims and promises to get the sale, then delivered mediocre results. I had a call back to get some very visible seams fixed...

We found out about J.D. Floor Store when my wife Toni came across them on the internet. We read the comments and they were fairly close to where we live, too. It was a great experience. First off, John was the project manager and he was very accessible. The crew was outstanding, meticulous, clean, and easy to talk to when we had a concern or question. We didn't have many concerns though. They responded immediately. They were pleasant in attitude and we thoroughly recommend this company. J.D. Floor Store installed bamboo hardwood for us. We're retired and we've had some previous experiences with home remodeling, some of which were not so good. Everyone at J.D. Floor Store was very pleasant. Again they were clean, worked hard, and didn't goof off either. All the work was done in a reasonable amount of time. We love the floor. The product looks great! If anyone is looking to do work on their hardwood floor, we would recommend J.D. Floor Store without reservations! Terry and Toni Fuhrman more

Shameful 7/11/2011

My experience with JD Floor Store was worse than bad. These guys started out great, giving me good ideas for upgrading my floors, but they quickly stopped being so helpful and professional. First, they promised a job estimate in 24 hours and a week later I'm emailing to ask where the estimate is. (I was told the guy had been on vacation: great customer service). Then, they promised to get me samples for a flooring style they recommended but never did --I ended up ordering the sample on my own online. Next, when they came out to do part I of the job they had the wrong size materials (probably because the night before the job they called me to say they can't find the dimensions for my floors and asked me to measure for the floors for them! ) For part II of the job they call to say materials aren't in and they can't do the job as planned, and then call the next scheduled day to say the same. (yes, postponed me twice in a row.) Finally, they come to do the job and I find out that the guy they sent to do it sent another guy and the JD Floor Store folks had no idea AND didn't act concerned when they found out their guy sent another guy. The icing on the cake: within 24 hours my newly installed vinyl floors are peeling up at the edges. They kept backburnering me, telling me that they would have to find a time when they could send someone out and it was always late in the evening (after 6 ---the guy showed up at 8 PM one night) or early morning (around 7 AM. Great customer service. ANd the guy who came to fix the problem had to come out 3 different times before he got it right. I am seeing more areas on my floors that are coming up but I've let things go with them. Not worth my time anymore. I can't recommend them. more

Superior Service and Price 3/8/2011

I contracted JD Floor Store to do a restoration project on my laminate hardwood floors in my townhouse in North Raleigh. John got out the next morning to give me a price quote and had his crew on the job the very next day. The turn around time/quality of the job/and price were excellent. John continued to stay in touch with me to make sure I was satisfied with the job and his crew even came back to do some touch up ensure my satisfaction. Met and exceeded all of my expectations! I strongly recommend this company! more

Overall a Good Experience 2/12/2011

J.D. Floor Store had very nice staff and were able to get us the carpet we wanted at a good price. We had a little bit of confusion with costs and at times we felt the communication between staff was lacking and overall little disorganized. It would also be nice for the staff to have a more efficient way of looking up product specifications and cost. When all was said and done, the carpet was installed on the date we planned. The installers did a good job. We had one minor issue where they cracked some wood trim on a door entry which they tried to fix. It still is in need of repair. Other than that, you can't beat the price as compared to a Home Depot or Lowes. Estimates are free as well which is a plus. Overall, we would recommend J.D. Floor Store. more

From the initial in-home consultation to the final walk-through inspection, J.D. Flooring provided excellent service! 2/8/2011

John came to our house initially to provide an estimate to install wall-to-wall carpeting in two bedrooms and a large hallway. After he pulled back the old carpet to see the flooring underneath, he recommended refinishing the 1920's heart-of-pine flooring that was consistent with the rest of the house. I was hesitant because of what I remembered about dust, fumes, time issue and moving out from having it done before. He assured me the whole project would be less than a week, with a minimum of dust and fumes. It would not require us to move out. He and his team of professionals worked hard to match the stain on the existing floors and mouldings until they got it as close as possible. They were at our house early in the mornings and stayed late each night; the project was completed in four days. We continued to be able to use our upstairs during the entire process with little inconvenience. I would definitely recommend this company for any flooring project. The combination of knowledge of materials, skilled expertise, and commitment to satisfaction provided a finished project that we're proud to show off to friends and family! more

Excellent experience all around 2/8/2011

JD Floor Store was one of several area flooring businesses my wife and I visited when we decided to replace our kitchen floor. From the initial visit through the final inspection, we received excellent service. They spent nearly two hours explaining the various options, and provided multiple samples for us to take home. When we needed another sample for comparison, JD kept the store open until I got there to pick it up. After we chose the floor we wanted, they worked with the manufacturer to get it here by the date we needed. The installation crew was professional, did a good job, and cleaned up as they went. Joshua Collins, the project manager, arrived as they finished and went over everything to be sure that we were happy. He checked back several days later to be sure that all was well. I've recommended them to several people, and will do so again without reservation. more

The whole process from the quotes/selecting samples to the installation was professionally handled. The entire process was efficient, straight-forward, and explained in detail. My house was left clean after the installation--which is a big bonus. The work was completed on-time; as promised. The price was competitive and I felt I received my money's worth. And the project manager, John Elliott, followed up on all work completed. My only issue are the strange 'black smuges' that were left on my wall (grease?) and a few bed linens. I can not remove it. But this is my only issue. Otherwise, I am happy with the quality of work performed. And John is more

It was a pleasure working with Josh on our kitchen floor redo. Everything was done to our satisfaction and in a very timely manner. We could not have asked for better service. All questions were answered and Josh always answered his cell phone immediately, responding very well to our concerns. We will certainly call them again when tghe need arises. more

They were awesome 2/3/2011

They provided not only the best customer service possible, but also the best price. I am a comparison shopper and educated consumer, so I talked with a lot of companies. They had the best prices, by far. I even spoke with a few independent contractors (one man band type guys) and JD Floor Store was still the cheaper option. On my hardwood floor installation, I noticed a scratch after everything had been installed. I pointed it out and they had their whole crew come back and replace just one piece of wood. They WANTED to do it, to make sure I was 100 happy. Also, the crew scuffed up my newly painted walls. I had them paint over the scuffs. This was done with a great attitude, again, they said sorry, we'll fix it. However, I gave them the wrong paint (it was matte, but I gave them semi-gloss by accident). Even though I told them I'd re-do it myself, they refused to let me and went over the scuffs AGAIN. That's how you do business. I'd wholeheartedly recommend them again. They're fun, cool and customer service oriented. Give them a call. more

The installer showed up with a pair of trim scissors and without even making an assessment of the issue first, attempted to trim the carpet to solved the problem. Needless to say I still have the problem. I got a follow-up call from the salesman a few days after the ""trim"" guy showed up and when I told him what was done once again a promise was made that it would be fixed even if a new section of carpet had to be ordered and reinstalled. Well, that was over a month ago with no further follow-up (another broken promise). My conclusion is that these guys value getting paid above making a good reputation for themselves. I will not be using them again and will not recommend them either. more

When our customers are not satisfied, we are not satisfied! Joe our head installer and Josh your project manager both worked diligently to ensure quality and your overall satisfaction. Apparently they did not hold up our end of the deal, and we do want to and intend to correct that. We understand now after the installation that you would prefer one single piece to be laid in the hall way. This is NOT the most efficient use of a 12 foot wide carpet roll and involves hundreds of dollars of wasted material that could not be used elsewhere. We appreciate your business and don't want to lose you as a customer. If you will allow us, we will replace the 3 piece look in the hallway with one single piece and no seem. As we offered initially after the concerns were brought to our attention; we would be happy to do it free of charge. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for working with us, we hope to resolve this issue and would be honored to have you as a satisfied customer. more

Excellent service and craftsmanships. Outstanding, honest people to work with. 1/18/2011

We first hired JD floors to redo the living room and hallway and other areas of an older home we were moving into. The service and the work was superb. Just as important, was how comfortable John and his staff made us feel with the creative consultation. They were patient and candid. And they were clearly just as into it as we were. At no point, did we ever feel like they were just trying to sell us something. In fact, it felt like they would rather lose money than leave us unsatisfied in anyway. They're also not just floor installers, but very creative people with a sophisticated design sense. We brought JD back to do our bedroom floor. And then later on, our kitchen floor. If we had more floors, we'd call them some more. more

We appreciate the top-notch customer service and expertise provided by all representatives of the JD Floor Store. Our final product looks excellent and is a source of pride to us. -- In fact, with our new red oak, semi-gloss floors in our 1970's home, it's like having a new house! We appreciate the attention to detail and courteous, informative service that is provided consistently. Clean up and follow-through were also impressive. One item needed, though: Clearer documentation of the warranties that accompany our floor job. I will need to call and inquiry about those documents. more
