I have been going to this restaurant for years and have recommended it far and wide, however the last few times I've been in I have been gradually more and more disappointed. \r Let me start by saying the menu selection is sensational, dozens of choices with some very unusual and some good old meat and potatoes. When I first started going the service was good, quick and courteous and the food excellent with ample portions. Over the my last few visits though while the food has stayed consistently excellent the service has just as consistently declined. On my last trip in our waitress was sour, there just isn't any other word for it, after telling us we could sit anywhere which is normal when it's not busy she walked up and just stood there waiting for us to start ordering. Our wait was not too long but for the first time ever we got something that was just not good and it was something that we had ordered before and which had been delicious. We had to flag the waitress down which would not be bad if it had been busy but there where only three other tables occupied at the time. After stating that the food was subpar we had to ask if we could get something instead rather her offering. The replacement order did take quite a while to come, everyone else at the table was done their food by the time it arrived and it was a simple dish. We received an insincere apology for the first order being bad after we again had to signal to the waitress for our check. \r I want to say I don't expect when I go out to eat for the server to kill me with kindness or hover over the table but I do expect the standard of the establishment to be to employ people who at the very least pleasant and polite. That no longer seems to be the case here, the latest experience was the worse but it has been heading in this direction for some time with staff who act like it's a burden to be there, not a promising sign for a family diner. The two stars are for the food which is four star, the service is no stars.\r Would I go again? Maybe after some time has passed in the hopes that it will improve. Will I recommend it anymore? i am a regular here for years -dont believe these other reviews- you want take out go to mc donalds - you want something different something great its java joes- pumpkin pancakes with cranberries and pecans, they call them winter glories and they are fantastic - want a real deal try the slammer or the salmon hash - unreal the portions are so huge here! \r BE PATIENT -THE FOOD HERE IS WORTH THE WAIT AND IS SO FRESH AND DIFFERENT FROM ANY PLACE YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU TRIED JAVA JOES ( NOT JOES JAVA )!! I ordered for pickup,they told me 20 min.So I wait 1/2 hour then go because I know their slow and the waitress angrily tells me it will be ready soon it's on the grill now.I wait another 15 min. and finally it is ready.I get home and open the sandwich and the eggs were runny and the bacon was raw and I paid about $8 a sandwich.What a discrace,I will never be back! We went to pick up a take out order. The first waitress walked away from us when she realized that we were paying separately. She said she ""couldn't do that"" and without a word to us, walked away. The waitress who rang up our order separately exclaimed loudly ""S***"" when I handed her my debit card. When I was signing the receipt, she let me know that in the future I could not use a debit/credit card when splitting a bill. She seemed very annoyed as well. This might have been almost excusable if the restaurant had been packed with customers. However the place was not that busy considering it was lunch time. We walked away amazed at the ignorance and rudeness of the service we received. We will not be back. The food is not worth the lack of customer service.\r The owners should DO SOMETHING about the waitresses! They seem to be a common theme in Java Joe reviews! My husband and I went to Java Joe's hoping to find a good breakfast place. We went to the Morton Coffee Station for years until the service and food got so bad we had to stop going. Well, we got to Java Joe's and it looked promising, the menu looked great! Until our cranky server took our order. The food was good. And thats where it all stopped. My husband had an empty coffee cup, no one offered to refill him. we finished our meal and sat and waited for our check...and waited....and waited. While our server SAT 2 tables away talking to friends! She was in full view of our table, our dishes were piled up and our credit card was on the table. She kept looking over at us but never got up and never gave us the check.We had to get another server to give us our check. And when we gave her our card she was extemely RUDE and snatched it out of my hand. Then dropped it on our table and never said a word. I HAVE NEVER left a dollar tip in my life. Today was the first time!! Best breakfast in DELCO?!! WORST SERVICE IN DELCO!!! \r \r By the way, The coffee at the Wawa next store was great. The service was alot better too!! parking is tight but is available 1/2 block in any direction-food here is off the charts good - dont know about take out and i honestly would rather eat in here - seating is close but comfy - but its the food here that is the story -best pancakes i have ever had, and biggest!!- so many omelettes its hard to pick just one ( get two and share!! )\r portions are incredible!! its the one place i look forward to going to every weekend - they have an awesome lunch too!! I stopped by to have a veggie omelet. My omelet had cheese on it. I am on a strict diet and did not want cheese. When the waitress to it back the cook came out and told me off. I love omelettes and was thrilled to see at least two dozen varieties listed on their menu at brunch this Saturday! We've tried coming here before on Sundays, but we were warded off by the long line. Saturday at 11:30 got us a table immediately and a quick invitation to one of their enormous omelette feasts. Where else can you get apple/maple-cured ham/brie all in one egg wrap? Amazing. On a recent trip, a long wait to sit was made even longer when the hostess forgot our party and inexplicably seated a couple at the only table large enough for me and my five friends. Once we sat, the service became worse. We asked countless times for one cup of coffee; the seven employees spent more time looking through apartment ads and loudly gossipping than serving their customers. At the end of the meal, our waitress added a tip of 23% to the bill. When we protested this excessiveness, she lowered it to 21% and made a nasty comment. Not only wass the wait staff rude and inattentive, but it tried to bilk customers out of every last cent. I contacted the owner regarding this problem, but received no response.
