My fiancee and I absolutely love this restaurant. It was the restaurant we went to on our first date and we continue to go there at least once a month. The food is AMAZING and sup...

questionable thai 2/8/2009

food was greasy!!!!! and flavorless. is this supposed to be thai? the dishes on our table all looked alike and were bland even though the menu descriptions would imply otherwise. only saving grace for this place was the fact that it had heat ( it was a cold day) and the warm wood decor. more

Affordable, Tasty, Service is slow 11/16/2008

The noodle portions are big, but the entree portions are small. The price is fairly reasonable, but the service is pretty slow. They forgot my friend's order and didn't comp him. Pros: Good Food Cons: Bad Service more

Rudest staff on the Upper East Side! 11/1/2008

RUDE Horrible staff just as other reviewers said! Last Thursday My family went to eat at Jasmine and the restaurant was completely empty. We have eaten there before when we were in a rush and did not want to walk the 2 extra blocks to LAND restaurant which is 100 times better. We always tip well(20%) at all restaurants which we believe is a good tip.The very young male waiter completely ignored us! I had to get up and refill my own water glasses! When he approached me as I was replacing the water pitcher on the service bar this PUNK ACTUALLY SAID TO ME ""I AM IGNORING YOU ON PURPOSE BECAUSE THEY(POINTING AT THE BACK OF THE RESTAURANT WHERE OTHER STAFF WAS STANDING) SAID YOU ARE A BAD TIPPER!"" Oh YES HE DID SAY THAT EXACT SENTENCE! So unless you tip MORE THAN 20% you will be COMPLETELY IGNORED ON PURPOSE HERE! Needless to say I was appalled and took our food to go and will never return. 20)% every time and IGNORED ON PURPOSE IN AN EMPTY RESTAURANT BECAUSE THEY THINK 20% IS A BAD TIPPER! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Go 2 blocks farther to LAND! better atmosphere, better food, better service. Never again! Yes, Jasmine is closer to 86 street but NOT WORTH BEING IGNORED AND INSULTED! Pros: None at all except close to 86 street Cons: Rude staff, Horrible service even when the restaurant is empty! more

Nice place to go with friends...for the company not the food 10/8/2008

I went with my friends to eat dinner here. The atmosphere was really nice. Not over the top and not sparce. It was dark and would be great for a date. My friend and I ordered the shrimp dumplings. Those were really good except for the sauce was freezing cold. Then my pad thai came and it had absolutly no flavor. I have had better pad thai at chain restaurants. Since I was with friends we wanted to split the bill, but they have a $15 credit card minimus which is really annoying, especially since most items on the menu are under $15. Pros: great ambiance, attentive bus boy (water was always full) Cons: tasteless and cold food more

Great Thai place 4/12/2008

This is a great place -not only is the food delicious, but the atmosphere and service are equally good. The gai pahd bai ga-prow (chicken w/ bell peppers in a spicy basil sauce) is a favorite -they can adjust how spicy the dish is, and I have found the 'medium hot' to be just right for me (it's probably the equivalent of 2-3 green Thai chili peppers). They also have been prompt when I have ordered take-out -it takes around 10-15min to have it ready. \r Having myself dabbled with Thai food cooking, I like their soups and especially appreciated that you can find galangalal pieces in the Tom Yam Goong, the spicy seafood shrimp with mushrooms. \r Overall, I think this place is a keeper and worthwhile trying if you have not. more

Found a insect in Food! 4/2/2008

Do NOT eat here, we found an insect (you know which one I'm talking about) in our food! I have eaten at Jasmine at least 6 times in the last two years. This used to be one of my favorite Thai restaurants. Never again will I eat there. I contacted them about the insect in my food and suddenly the receptionist did not speak any English (funny how she spoke it before!).\r \r Totally grossed out right now! more

A favorite of ours 7/5/2007

My fiancee and I absolutely love this restaurant. It was the restaurant we went to on our first date and we continue to go there at least once a month. The food is AMAZING and super cheap. It is quite hard to go there and just have one or two things. He usually wishes he can order the whole menu. The chicken satay w/ peanut sauce is to die for and so is the Bamee Siam. I highly recommend this place. Pros: the food and the ambience more

Highly Disappointed 4/3/2006

Just moved recently into town and used City Search to find this place. It had great reviews so maybe I had high hopes. However, our experience was very opposite to the postings. The food was so-so but what made it awful was the service. The staff was unattentive and extremely rude. Needless to say, I will NEVER go there again. more

Best in the neighborhood 3/15/2006

Reliable food, nice atmosphere, great value. I've been here dozens of times and have almost never been disappointed. I wouldn't order the spring rolls, but everything else is very good, and the value can't be beat. Excellent for delivery or take out as well. Pros: good food, great value, fast delivery more

Great ambiance and great food! 2/17/2006

I love this place! The food actually tastes like Thai food and not altered toward American tastes (i.e. bland). This place is romantic for couples or fun with friends. I highly recommend this place. Pros: good prices, good food, good service more

My favorite place to go. 2/13/2006

Though the overall review says this place isn't romantic, my man and I find this place so cozy. The food is always delicious. The price is always right and the service has always been pleasant. We've declared it our favorite Thai restaurant. more

Jasmine... 12/22/2005

Yum 6/10/2004

For a Thai first-timer, this was definitely a good start. Restaurant was casual and comfortable, but had enough ambience to make it a great date spot. Though the service was a bit lacking, the food packed enough punch to make up for it. Seating outdoors in the summer is a great option, as is their take-out. Pros: RelativelyInexpensive, Casual Chic more

good Thai 4/4/2004

The food was very good. The ambiance was nice. I can't wait to go in the summer when all the doors are open (or at least they look like they open). The service was good until it got busy... then it got slow. Overall it was pleasant and I would definitely go again. Pros: good food, pleasant ambiance more

Repeat customer 10/20/2003

Jasmine has become a weekly ritual for me. Their Pad Thai is really good, as is the Mee Ga Thi. Their coconut milk soup is also delicious! Pork chop wasn't great, so that's the one thing I would say not to order. They are also good about catering to allergy requirements (i.e. no shrimp...not so sure about peanut allergies, though...) Service is pretty slow, but the delivery is pretty quick. more

great food for great prices 5/14/2003

I have been to a number of Thai places in the city but Jasmine is still my favorite. It has the best food..and at the best prices. In comparision Rain's food was horrible at twice the price. more

The best thai food 4/20/2003

I have visited NYC six times and a visit would not be complete without eating at Jasmine's. Their food is wonderful and the atmosphere is casual yet impressive. I would recommed everyone try Jasmine's at least once, and I guarentee you'll have to go back!!! more

jasmine ...love it 12/25/2002

very good food...a bit oily. no dish over $12...the steak-salad is great. a very active restaurant...get the sticky rice more

Affordable good one! 11/9/2002

Very good food, with a wide range of taste to choose from. Tasty wihtout being hot-spicy, and the fried dish still managed to be light, not greasy at all. And you get the whole thing for such a nice price. We'll be back there. Service is the down side: the waiter was extremely unhelpfull and couldn't care less to what we order or if we enjoy. Pros: price, choice Cons: service more

Excellent food, great place! 9/30/2002

Great restaurant on the upper east side, excellent Thai food, quite reasonable and a perfect choice to enjoy a exotic meal with a few friends over dinner. The place is also cozy and very amiable. more
