Be prepared to be sick. 11/6/2007

Anytime you eat raw fish you run the risk of disease. Well Japonica does not seem to realize that. I ordered specific food as I am to some seafood. Well, this place had no interest im my request, and would not even let me talk to management without my insistence. Management was more concerned with they did nothing wrong than my concern for health. STAY AWAY. This place is over and the reputation is from another era. more

Good, but not Great. 5/27/2006

While the sushi here is very good, I think it's over priced for what is on offer. I also can't say much for the ambience of the restaurant. This coupled with its noisy University Place location, makes it a less than elegant dining option, but certainly a good choice for meals with parents when visiting NYU. more

One of New York's Best! 5/20/2006

This is by far one of New York's best sushi restaurants. If you like Oshinko, this place has several varieties and they taste as good as in Japan. Appetizers are creative and delicious, and the sushi is absolutely succulent, and the pieces huge. Every meal I've ever eaten there has been fresh down to the seaweed. The only complaint is it's one of New York's priciest, but you definitely get your money's worth! more
