A Southern landmark 6/18/2011

This place is a landmark in a quickly-vanishing profession. You can literally spend a day in Jackson Street Books and not see everything they have on hand. The stock changes on almost an hourly basis, so you're guaranteed to see something new each time you visit. A bibliophile's dream! more

Great hangout 7/25/2009

This place has beautiful old creaky floors. When I first walked by, I thought of the place from Never-ending Story. They have such a fascinating collection of older stuff and the contemporary works. They also have all of this interesting decor from different countries and world travels. I always find something interesting. The staff seems to really know their stuff and have great recommendations as well. Definitely a place to go if you visit Athens. more

The last word in used books! 11/18/2008

I LOVE this place! They always have a really good selection, and there a ton of subjects to pick from. The atmosphere is perfect, and there's always some different, interesting music playing in the background. Finding your way around the shelves can be tricky at first, but there are plenty of signs if you get confused. I go to school in North Carolina, but I live near Athens so I try to ALWAYS stop by JSB when I'm in town!! more

I am a book-a-holic! 4/15/2006

I love books, and anything having to do with books. I especially love small, old, used bookstores with books for miles and miles! Jackson Street Books is the best place in Athens for this. You could literally spend hours and hours in this store just reading titles of books. They even have a small selection of foreign language books (I was looking for Russian books and they have a few Russian books!) which was surprising to me, but exciting. This is the place to go to find that special (older) book you were looking for that no one else has. more

Many old selections 10/20/2005

This book store specializes in old and used books. You'll find complete sections of fiction, history, politics and biographies. Their Georgia history section is particularly good. If you can't find what you are looking for just ask. The staff is always willing to help. This is what a book store was intended to be. more

Close to Campus 7/30/2005

This bookstore is not at all like the chain bookstores although they do have many of the most popular books. They have great sales and some great selections. The staff is super friendly and are always willing to suggest a great read. They have a more eclectic collection than the chain stores and also have more of the local authors than some of the other bookstores in the area do. As with all of the shops in downtown, Parking is at a premium and you may have to do just a bit of walking. (Pay meters for parking). Jackson street is located very close to UGA (In fact, it is on the same street as UGA Library) more
