The Best Waxing Around 6/8/2006

J Sisters still gives the best Brazilian bikini wax around. Yes, it hurts, but they're fast and efficient and they do the job perfectly. I've never had so much as an ingrown hair. Thank you, J Sisters, on behalf of myself AND my husband. :) Pros: great Cons: great more

I went here about a year ago for a Brazilian and the results were pretty good, but nothing fabulous, considering the price. But after reading several reviews on citysearch again I decided to try J Sisters one more time. I made an appointment with Melissa and she is great! I was surprised when it was all over because it was so quick & painless! She also talked to me and made me feel very relaxed. She did an awesome job and I will definitley go back. Worth the $65+ b/c you get good results. No stray hairs & no pain! Pros: Staff, minimized pain, atmosphere more

MELISSA! MELISSA! MELISSA! She is absolutely the greatest, applying techniques that minimize the pain as much as possible. She's quick, clean, very thorough and extremely meticulous. $65 is a lot of money, but I've tried a few other other places for less and each and every single time, I've been let down--skill is just unmatched anywhere else. I think the place is great and loved it here. However so many places are doing brazilians well these days and the economy what it is $80 plus tip is over the top. They picked the wrong time to raise prices. Pros: brazilian bikini, friendly Cons: way, way too expensive more

J Sisters was recommend by a friend as the ultimate Brazilian wax experience and I was not disappointed. I was advised to request Josie, who was lovely throughout this rather awkward and somewhat painful procedure (it was my first wax). The results were OUTSTANDING, without any residual pain, although I did take some Tylenol before I went. I found the atmosphere to be clean, though the decor is "no frills". Not worth the hype 1/2/2006

I've gone here twice for their infamous Brazilian bikini wax only to be let down. This was undoubtedly overpriced for the sub-par decor and the below average waxing, where I noticed stray hairs all over the place. Other places I've gone to use a gentler blue-green wax that doesn't pull the skin and is much kinder to sensitive skin, preventing bumps and redness. Additionally, the use of baby cream, while practical, proved unimpressive as far as professionalism. If I'm dishing out $65+tip for painful hair removal, can I get something a little better to sooth the freshly ripped skin? On top of it all, the staff was beyond rude. To pay for the BEST BRAZILIAN in NYC u can't go anywhere else but J sisters. This means NO redness, NO bumps, NO ingrowns, & NO PAIN!! Cristina is amazing. She shapes exactly how you want it, & whips you into shape in 15mins. I HIGHLY recmnd her ladies!!! She's a darling. Best Brazilian Wax 10/3/2005

I've been going to J Sisters for a year and half and will never get a waxing anywhere else. The 1st time I made an appt. the receptionist recommended Slyvana & I've been going to her ever sine. She is the best. Very professional. She makes you feel comfortable and always asking if everything is okay. If you do decided to get any kind of waxing I highly recommend her! The amount of money I paid for a brazilian wax at J. Sisters could've been better spent elsewhere. It was my first brazilian wax (and I've had many since at other places), and I don't understand the hype over the J. Sisters. While I felt little pain, I didn't like the atmosphere or the staff. The decor didn't suggest that this was the kind of place that could charge that much money for its services. The staff was a bit snobby as well. The woman was chatting over a make-shift wall to the receptionist in Porteguese while doing my wax! What a wonderful waxing! 11/2/2004

There is no such an amazing place in the City. My first time 1 year ago wasn't that good experience. It was painfull and I was very uncomfortable. Then, last week a girlfriend covinced me to come back there and give Emily(her new waxer) a try. It was unbelievable! She was so nice, speaking good English and making me feel so comfotable. It was a quick, painless and professional job. She's definitely changed the whole meaning of waxing for me. Of course, there are still some areas in need of improvement at the salon, such as having more English-speaking staff. Pros: great service, beautiful salon more

Fantastic 10/13/2004

This place was amazing. Even though I was terrified the first time I went for a Brazilian Bikini wax, they were totally cool and understanding. The waxing was basically painless [except that first second or two] but the more I went, the more I found myself drifting off and not even paying attention to the waxing. The only thing is that they raised the price to $65 instead of $55 and it always seems a little helterskelter there. Plus there's sometimes some grumpy UES chicks there. Great Bikini Wax 4/4/2004

I had been so fearful of this moment for years (even called to cancel before b/c I chickened out), but my first bikini wax was really not as bad as I thought it would be. The J Sisters Salon is really beautifully done - although you have to walk 4 flights up to arrive at the waxing floor, I was too nervous to notice how winded I was. My waxer (Josie) was such a sweetheart and very comforting given how scared of the pain I was. She did a great job, was very quick w/ the wax (a must!) and talked me through it the whole way. If I'm feeling courageous, I will definitely return to J Sisters, although I highly recommend 2 Advils before you go :) Pros: fast and thourough wx, Beautiful salon more
