So my friend who goes to school at Stony Brook University asks me do I want to go out an grab bite. I saw sure but I don't have that much money. He says no problem.
He drives for about 15 mins and we hit a steakhouse. I was baffled at how he could say he wants to go to a steakhouse after I said I was low on funds. I said I only had enough for McDonald's or Burger King, he said "That's all you need for J&R's!". So we entered. He said the one thing is that we your funds you gonna have to get the special you can really pick what you want. I assumed that the special was gonna be a 7 oz piece of steak or a burger. But much to my surprise the special which was $9.99, was a 24 oz T-Bone steak with drink and potato wedges. Well I assumed since it was so cheap it must taste bad. Wrong again. This was one of the best tasting steaks I ever had. Well seasoned. Cook just to my request and accompanied by some great fries. I must say this is the fullest I had every gotten for $10.
Well of course we returned to the J&Rs the week after. And this time I was well funded so I was ready to spend a good penny. Much to my surprise all the prices stayed under $20. So I just had the special again. : )
Overall its a great place, friendly atmosphere, good food, and great pricing. I loved it.
Hope this was helpful.
