I lived in Tokyo for 2 years, and most Japanese food I see here in Austin is unimpressive fusion. While the sushi menu has both fusion and traditional Japanese sushi (speaking of fusion, try the Heart Attack roll), the hot menu is authentic Japanese. This place is a great opportunity to branch out into the rest of Japanese cuisine if all you know is sushi. I'm not a big raw fish fan, but there are so many other things to choose from. The agedashi (fried tofu) was delicious, the tempura was the best I've had here, and the hamachi kama and sake kama (broiled tuna or salmon) is delectable. The bento boxes are an excellent deal, they come with a LOT of food. The food presentation is also very nice. The service is excellent and the decor is beautiful. It's a great place for date night. As for price, they have the same quality of food, service, and atmosphere as the really expensive joints downtown, but the price is much more reasonable. Plus, they have a good happy hour deal. This restaurant really took me back to Japan, from the flavors to the presentation, service, and decor.
Pros: atmosphere, food, service, moderate price
