I was genuinely impressed with the food and service at Italian Express. The casual ambiance could perhaps suggest that this is your regular run-of-the-mill pizza place. Nothing could be further from the truth. The staff is incredibly congenial and expert at making everyone feel at home. The food was out of this world. I had the pasta e fagiole, chicken parmesan with ravioli and a glass of Merlot. It made me almost giddy to see what care had been taken in preparing my food. I also sampled the meatballs - the biggest, fresh and moist meatballs I have ever had (sorry mom).
As if this weren't enough to put me over the edge, I couldn't help but try a cannoli for dessert. I normally don't like cannoli, but the cream they use to fill it is to die for - so creamy and just sweet enough without overstaying its welcome on the taste buds. It was a fantastic end to my meal.
I will gladly return to Italian Express, not only for the solidly wonderful food, but for the warmth of the restaurant and its staff. I hear people (beyond the locals) are really noticing this place, and for good reason. Don't mistake the simplicity and earnestness of the establishment for anything less than a lovely home-cooked meal in a relaxing environment.
