Editorial review from Citysearch 11/10/2012

I have never written a bad review for any business. But this was so bad I want other prospective customers to know what to expect. We just paid $70 for one of the worst meals I have ever had.We ordered our dinners to be picked up, well in advance. We ordered Gamberetti alla Shrimp and the shrimp were so rubbery you could hardly chew them. The sauce was watered down and there was no hint of garlic. Even after adding our own fresh grated parmesan, we were unable to eat it and fed some of the pasta to our dog and the rest to our disposal.. We also ordered Cannelloni Florentine. I have had better frozen food than this. It tasted like it was made with one of the over-the-counter jar sauces. more

was good... last time, not so much. 8/27/2010

The first two times we were here, it was great!! However, the last time we were here it was a Monday night and they had one server. The place was full. Sooo even though the server apologized.. the service was terrible. The owner(?) came out to assist in getting drinks and they still did not come for a long time. We spotted three roaches on the floor near our table, causing our 5 year old to flip. The food was mediocre and the pasta which used to be awesome.. it tasted like cheap bag pasta. We did ask if they had changed pasta.. and they had. We will not be returning. Waste of money this time, unfortunately. more

We are from upstate NY also and take our Italian seriously. 5/13/2010

My husband and I went there with our five year old and our two year old. It was clean and cute inside. Our son has severe allergies and the chef was very accomodating. He even suggested and made donuts for our son, because he did not have a dessert on the menu that my son could eat (due to the allergies). Pros: The service, the allergy accomodations, and the eggplant! Cons: Cannot really think of any ""cons"" just different more

Eh, too pricey, too mediocre 2/8/2009

Let me start this by saying we're from upstate New York and take our Italian food very seriously. Pros: Nice People Cons: Too expensive for a strip mall rest, food was mediocre, service needs improving more

ok food, nice owners 10/5/2008

The food is good. However, the menu does not include kids meals... Ordering a half portion for the kids, can get your bill pretty high. Pros: nice staff, good food Cons: no kids meals more

Great customer service, excellent homemade Italian food, fresh mozzarella 8/25/2008

Wow! Where to start? From fabulous bruschetta....thick slices of mozzarella, and warm roasted bread covered with thousands of fresh tomatoes to some of the best chicken marsala I have ever eaten, this restaurant filled the bill for cozy and intimate....I felt like someone had invited me into their home as a valued guest and fed me to show their appreciation and love. The food fest ended with a smooth creme brulee topped with a crunchy sugar top...I was in Italian heaven... and I can come back! Pros: Great food...fresh ingredients and homemade, great service and wonderful family ambience more

Great Customer Service, Overpriced Mediocre Food 8/5/2008

I was excited to try this italian restaurant which is just a few blocks from my house. Once I arrived I was greeted and seated promptly. My enthusiasm started to waiver as I asked about their wine list and no one could give me any informed answers. I then ordered the overpriced margherita pizza which consisted of dough, cheese, four sprigs of basil, and two rings of tomatoes. The food was served with a smile but I left with a frown. more

Best Eggplant Parmesan I have ever had 6/26/2008

My wife was a little nervous about me selecting this place to eat for dinner one night. How good can the food be at an Italian place in a strip mall? I was the first to admit, this place didn't look like much on the outside. However, once we entered, I had a whole different opinion. The lady at the door greeted us with a sincere smile and asked us if we were hungry. The actual server was nothing to write home about, but she was prompt and made sure we had everything we needed. Pros: The food is amazing, the greeting at the door is genuine, not crowded. Cons: Once the word gets out about this place, they are going to need a bigger dining room. more

Mom and Pop Italian in Wells Branch **FOLLOW UP** 12/3/2007

Since my last review in December Lucretia, the co-owner has fixed the service problem. Everything was flawless last Friday when I dined in at It's Italian. A little secret, get on their email list so your know about the weekly specials and will not miss things like veal chops, chicken risoto or oso buoco. Also, Jonathan comes up with non-Italian master pieces like crawfish stuffing, fish tacos and escargot to die for. Check it out. Pros: Great food and a comfortable cozy feel Cons: The word is out so there might be a wait...but call ahead and Lucretia will save you a table more

Best Little Italian Place in Austin!! 8/18/2007

Everything is Great!!! I highly recommend it!!! Oso Buco to die for! Excellent Lasagna! Good old fashioned Italian food! Pros: It's All Good! Cons: None! more

GREAT customer service and the food is delicious 10/5/2006

It's Italian is a must for central Texans. The owners give the best customer service I have ever seen. They will know you by name the second time you come back. Even if the service was mediocre, you would rate the food as excellent. Yes they have the basics in spaghetti & lasagne (excellent meatballs & sausage can be added for cheap), and the menu expands to include shrimp caperri (spelling?), great pizzas like the original margherita pizza, chicken piccata and much more. Delicious appetizers include asparagus and the best calamari in town. If that isn't good enough, the beer menu goes way beyond coors light & that is important to me. I like wine with Italian food & they have that, but I am a beer-lover, too & you can find great microbrewed beers from the U.S. and the world here. Check it out. Pros: Customer Service, Taste, Value more

The Best Local Italian in North Austin 6/13/2006

New York has hundreds. Round Rock has one. Nothing fancy, but the food is fabulous, reasonably priced and the owners are wonderful people. I just wish it was next door. Try the veal or chicken picatta. It is better than I can make at home which is the highest of compliments. It is great simple fare. more

Feels like home... 3/10/2006

We live very close to It's Italian, and finally tried it for the first time last week. Needless to say, we are going back tonight. The service was great! Very personable people, and the owners both came to our table to say hello and serve us our food. It was very reasonably priced and tasted great! We had the ravioli and the baked ziti and both were very good. I would definately recommend It's Italian to anyone looking for a good home cooked meal. Pros: Good Food, Great Price, Great Service Cons: Too small!! more

THANK YOU!!! 3/3/2006

My husband and I have eaten there 3 times, and every time it gets better. The servers, including the owners, are very friendly and really make you feel welcome. So far we've tried spaghetti with meat balls (great), chicken parmesan (really great), and the veal picatta (absolutely fabulous). The sauce on the picatta was perfect. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal without all the fuss of ""fine"" dining. Pros: Food, Service more

Family Restaurant 2/15/2006

This is not a place to take a date unless you are going for great food. Don't get me wrong the enviroment is nice but I don't feel it has romantic qualities. This is a family restaraunt. Once you walk in the front door you will know that good food and service are the norm. You will be treated like family within your first few visits. The food is great and always comes warm to the table. I hope the owner always keeps active in the restaurant because I feel you can tell that there is true craftmenship in each dish. Personal attention to the customers is definately felt. Pros: Inexpensive, Great deserts, Great dishes Cons: Not enough live music, Not romantic enough more
