I have been going to JTA for my tattoos for years! I recently went in to have my family crest tattooed and he did an amazing job! JT has done over half my tats and he will be the only one i go to from now on! Not only is his work great but he cares about it as well, hes not just trying to make a buck! Indy Tattoo Works has impeccable work! The service is friendly and professional! I have had 3 tattoos done by JT and each one he does always come out BETTER than I expected! The last two I took in a drawing of what I wanted and it was nothing for him to draw it up and tweak it to look even better than the idea I originally had! I have never regretted any work I have had done and any one I show my tattoos too are always impressed and always ask where I have gotten it done. I will NEVER go any where else. I trust JT's work and recommend it to anyone who wants great work done to brag about!! more

I just got back from getting a tattoo by JT and I am SO happy with it! Me and my two sisters all got tattoos and we LOVE them, he gave us all exactly what we wanted, plus stayed open pretty late to finish them with careful detail. We were all pretty nervous and kinda new to tattoos but it was a really really great experience. You could definitely tell JT knew what he was doing and he made us feel comfortable and was fun to talk to! I would never go anywhere else after this great experience and I would recomend anyone to him! Oh, and the prices were very reasonable. :] Pros: everything! more

I have been to most of the biggest tattoo shops in town, and have never been treated with as much courtesy, respect, and professionalism. Jon Hall, the artist, took the time to speak with us and make us as comfortable as possible with our choice. This was after being treated unacceptably at Artistic Skin Designs at the East Side location. After stopping at a few shops on the East Side on Friday, we were beginning to feel as if to get body artwork done, it was customary to be treated poorly, more or less, as if you are being held hostage by rude artists with egos too large to earn my business. This is not my first tattoo, and will not be my last with Jon hall. I would recommend his shop to anyone interested in getting body modification with high quality at a fair rate, from a true professional with a love of the art itself, not the notoriety that comes with it. I went in with my brother (visiting from out of state) and had my first tattoo inked this past Sunday. It was kind of a last-minute thing on my behalf, John stayed well past the official posted hours to make sure I was happy.\r \r John did a great job, we had a lot of great conversations about tattoos he has done in the past, how he got started in the business, etc. The experience was very professional/friendly and the work area was very clean.\r \r He was very receptive to any questions or concerns I had before he actually started the inking.\r \r The finished tattoo was exactly what I had been hoping for, so it was a great experience.\r \r I will definitely be going back here when I am ready for my next tat.\r \r Thanks Indy Tattoo Works, you've got a customer for life! Jon may be nice, but nice people don't necessarily make nice tattoos! I asked for a very very very simple tattoo and he absolutely botched it! Not only did he screw up the outline, but the quality of the tattoo in general is really terrible. My tattoo is supposed to be black, but it is more of a charcoal gray. Very poor quality work. Save yourself the time and money, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Pros: none! Cons: EVERYTHING! more

I was referred to JTA by someone else and since my last artist skipped town and I can't find him I decided to give him a try. I'm certainly glad I did. JTA went above and beyond to research exactly what I was wanting and drew up a great piece. He took the time to sit down with me at his computer and go through a bunch of different ideas and until I found exactly what I was looking for. He got me in right away and the prices are the best in town. I have several tattoos from different artists around the US and JTA's is the best. They have been in Indy over 20 years and their work speaks volums. I highly recommend Indy Tattoo Works!! Pros: Excellent work! Resonable prices! more

Went last night for two tattoos and was shocked by the detail that was put into the tattoo. Most places only do what they think is good and take your money. JTA takes his time makes sure every little detail and angle are PERFECT! JTA helped us design our tattoos on his computer and finished them up last night. It was a Friday night I might add. Where to begin? I have had the absolute best tattoo experiences of my life at Indy Tattoo Works. Jon has done two tattoos for me and he is the coolest guy ever! He is very professional and put me at ease immediately. On my first visit, he fixed an ugly tattoo I'd gotten somewhere else and made it absolutely beautiful. My second visit, I had him ink two stars on my upper chest and they were perfect. Jon is full of great stories to tell and extremely personable. In pretty much every other tattoo shop where I'd had work done in the past, the artists really didn't seem to care about what I had to say and definitely weren't the most polite people I'd ever met. They acted put out that I came in the first place! But Jon gave me a very warm welcome and was genuinely interested in making my experience a great one. He negotiated a VERY fair price and his work was impeccable. He told me that he wasn't going to be happy with it until I was happy with it and he bent over backwards to give me exactly what I wanted. In fact, I liked his designs even better than the examples I brought in for him to go by! Jon is very friendly and loves his work. He genuinely enjoys making people happy with their tattoos and won't stop until that happens. I can't say enough good things about Jon and about the experiences I've had at Indy Tattoo Works. After trying out several tattoo shops in the Indy area, I can honestly say that I've now found a ""home"" at ITW! Jon, you're awesome! Indy Tattoo works is the one place that i have ever been to that takes the time to make sure that you get the tattoo that you want and more! Indy Tattoo Works was an amazing experience. I went to them to get my first tattoo and they made the process quick and easy. Any apprehensiveness I had felt prior to going was immediately gone when I started talking to the staff. Everyone there is knowledgeable and talented at what they do. Jon and JT are both incrediblt laid-back and easy going. The 2 hours it took to complete my tattoo were very pleasant. These guys are awesome. I have recommended them to more people then i can count my my fingers and toes. They did a back tattoo for me of a harley davidson eagle from one of my shirts. I had two sessions totaling almost 14 hours of hard painful work, but all of the pain and tears was so worth the great results of this tattoo. This tattoo is really huge for a lower back tattoo. There is a total of 8 colors in this tattoo. It looks even better as a tattoo then it does as a design on the back of my shirt.\r My boy friend loved my tattoo so much that he got his very first tattoo at Indy Tattoo works. My husband and I went to Indy Tattoo Works from Louisville, having just read reviews on Citysearch. My husband got a tattoo in memory of his dad who passed away 2 months ago. He brought in the design he wanted, and JT was amazing. This was my husband's second tattoo and he was extremely impressed. The place itself was shabby and could use some cleaning and updating, but JT sterilized the equipment and took the utmost care in keeping the work area clean. Our appointment was at 11 pm, and we didn't get home until 3 am, because JT was so great at making sure he took his time. He was meticulous and careful. We are very happy indeed. When it's time for me to get my first tattoo, I will go there and see JT and no one else!!!! Pros: Talented artist, great prices, meticilous Cons: needs cleaning and organizing more

Indy Tatoo Works is by far the best in Indy. I have been going for over 8 years, have 11 tatoo's totalling over 70 hours. J.T. has done all 11, will be the only tatooist to ever touch me with a tatoo gun. I have spent many overnighters in the chair, and J.T. always finishes what I want. The facility is clean and you are told exactly what you will recieve. Thanks a million J.T. you know I will be back as long as your around. After only making our appointments the night before, 4 grown adults drove an hour and a half to Indianapolis to get our tattoos. Our appointment was scheduled to start at 7:00PM that evening. JT worked ALL night to complete our 4 tattoos. We had quite a lot of drawing and details for him - not to mention the amount of ink he used on us! He worked all night long for us, completing the most meticulous details! We pulled a 12 hour shift with JT and will never forget our wonderful evening!\r \r We cannot put into words how grateful we are to JT for taking such good care of us! He is a VERY thorough and detailed artist - not to mention damn talented!! We will no longer go to anyone else for our tattoos!
