Great great place. I've never had Kati Roll but this place was really excellent. I had the saag chicken naanini and I thought it was a portioned very well for 6.50. I also had the Mixed Greens salad which was a steal at 2.50 (with the dollar off special when you order a side with a sandwich). I brought some more stuff back for some coworkers and they loved it too. Highly recommended. The only thing I will say is that it takes a little while for them to make it so be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes, probably more when they are busy. The interior was small but had enough moveable tables to accommodate small and medium-sized groups. The masala chai tea was also pretty good and you get unlimited for 1.50. The service was polite enough as well. Even though I have to ride my bike 30 blocks to get there I know I'll be back if that is any indication of quality. Pros: Well-priced, Great concept, delicious! Cool desi fast-food 1/1/2007

My friend recommended this place to me. He had stumbled upon it, and had become a regular. I tried it yesterday, and I must say I understand why he swears by it. The service is friendly, and the food is tasty and more than what you'd expect for the amount charged. I tried the aloo kathi roll & paneer naanini, and both were awesome! I especially like the fact that the aloo kathi was well flavored, and not bland. The paneer naanini was something I was having for the first time, and I really liked the concept of a naan sandwich. it had an interesting balance of flavors. Topped my meal with a cuppa of masala chai. Yummmm.....I now know why the regulars hold this place dear to their hearts! Pros: Food, value, concept Cons: small space more

Stick to the original 12/30/2006

Went there the other day as the lines at The Kati Roll Co were too long. On entering the Indian Bread Company I realized why. Firstly the kitchen is dirty and the Health Dept should pay a quick visit. And more importantly the Kati Rolls were awful. Dry and small and completely without taste. \r Maybe their parathas are better, but if you feel lie eating Kathi's , then endure the lines at The Kati Roll Co.\r more

Mixed Review 7/4/2006

Personally, the place is a great spot for a quick to-go lunch or a quick place to eat. Had the Aloo sandwhich (the one where the bread is folded over) which was VERY delicious, filling and great for the price. Also had the masala chai which I took home and had it over ice - made great ice tea. The other party had a spinach chicken nannini and had complaints. Apparently, it was just spinach and no chicken - 95% spinach; 5% chicken. In terms of service, the chefs of the place are working in this tiny sandwhich shop, sweating, however, they were all very accomodating and very knowledgable of their menu. Overall, I'd go again. the lamb wrap was delicious but should have been bigger or have a side dish for the price$5.50 ,the side dish was $1.00 extra. the guy at the counter did tell us before we ordered it was small. the tandoori chicken panninni was delicious and grilled well and it was tasty and perfect size-filled me up.#13 was a hot spicy chicken in naan bread and was delicious...go but very small and only hold about 15 people. Pros: quick service, tasty-spicy-, indians eat there Cons: some small portions, not many seats, wobby tables more

Their aloo and keema paraths remind me of my mother's cooking. Absolutely DIVINE!! Infact, I eat there so often that I've started thinking of it as my own kitchen:) I guess the price dosen't hurt either. And, yes, the desi masala chai is a must-have. DID THEY RUN OUT OF CHICKEN FOR MY PARATHA?? 7/12/2005

my chicken paratha, at $4.50, was a ripoff. it was just a round flat bread with maybe two tablespoons of what looked and tasted like greasy bread crumbs! the filling had zero chunks of chicken, i thought it was what they scrape off the grill. and they have the nerve to put a tip cup on the counter, with a sign saying ""it is good karma to give tips"". it is good karma to put some chicken in the chicken paratha and to give some value for the cost. indian bread company must have been having a bad night. skip it!! more

Skip the flatbread and try something with their naan. The lamb naanwich was delicious and their mango lassi is a must-have. Pros: Inexpensive, Authentic, Easy to find more

Hidden Desi Gem 6/30/2004

It's a gem of a place tucked in the middle of a block on bleecker street. I'd passed by it a couple of times without really noticing it, but I'm glad I decided to try it out. I had the lamb paratha & saag chicken naanini, and boy, was it good!!! The paratha is a flatbread stuffed with flavorful filling, and the naanini is a grilled naan sandwich. I've never tasted this type of Indian food before, big fan of curry that I am. But, I'm ready for more!!!! And, did I mention it's quite a value for the buck? All in all, it's a place I think I'm going to get addicted to!! Pros: Food, yummm...food, value, ambience more

microscopic portions 3/10/2004

Ordered a lamb curry sandwich that came with a side salad. There were literally 5 bites of meat and 4 leaves in my salad! For the $6 it cost I could have eaten three falafels and a soda from Mamoun's around the corner. Tasted nice I admit, but the portions are an insult. Pros: taset, decor more

Not many places in Manhattan can give you an excellent meal for less or around $5. The parathas are excellent, especially the lamb. Really HUGE!. The naanini's were new to me, but one bite and I was hooked. Been back 3 times and I told my friends about this place too. Great place, great decore and above all great food..... The best place to go to either hang out with friends or with family....... Food at the IBC makes one feel like as if one is back in INDIA.....
