Best

Went for restaurant week, but the meniu looked so good we chose many of their little dishes instead. The shark fin on consomme pool, with egg custard made me think I was in Tokyo!...

Worst

Japanese dishes are normally dubtle in flavor. Their dishes are more for presentation rather then taste. But this place lacked in both. The sushi wasn't so fresh, the udon nood...

Blend food and poor service 1/25/2008

Although the decor was nice, the service was very poor and the food was rather blend. We had to make various gestures from smiling, nodding, waiving, tapping on arms, just to get any watiress' attention. The waitresses in kimono were very good in avoiding any eye contact with the customers. No one checked if we need anything during dinner (and yes, we did not have any water left in our glasses), then it took us 20 minutes (withe various gestures) to get our bill on the table!! Pros: Easy access Cons: Poor service, overprice food more

Avoid at any time. 7/23/2007

Unfortunately I did not read reviews for this restaurant and tried it for Restaurant Week.\r Everything went wrong, except Waldorf entrance next to it. We had to put the steak on the warm stone and result was expected. The service was not good at all, as soon as they heard about Restaurant week. Avoid this place even you are really hungry. Pros: Location Cons: Rest of it more

Inagiku. Very bad service, pure presentation. 7/21/2007

Tried this restaurant for Restaurant Week and we had very bad experience. Prefixed menu potions good enough only for a child, certainly not for adult. Very bad service, pure presentation. Chopsticks as in the chip Chinese restaurant.\r We left this place hungry and angry.\r Pros: Very bad service, pure presentation. Cons: Very bad service, pure presentation. more

Skip this restaurant unless you like paying for overpriced food. 3/13/2007

Tried this rest for Japanese Restaurant Week and oh boy was i so wrong. The steak on the hot stone was tough. I could not finish the food. total waste of time. the restaurant was ""full"" til 9pm but when i got there at 5:30pm the restaurant did not have any diners even at 7pm when I left. The tuna tartate was bland, the tempura which ppl raved about was not unique at all. I could have went to a take out for the same quality. Boo to this place. Cons: bad food, snobby attitude more

Good fresh sushi. 3/11/2007

The food here is exceptional with sushi and sashimi very good. The service was great, It was definitely pricey. Being a high end hotel restaurant has it's benefits as the mixed drinks were excellent. Pros: Great sushi, drinks Cons: price more

Not so hot 2/16/2007

I must agree with the few reviews below...I'll keep this short and simple, the sushi and appetizers were OK at best, but for the price (we spent about $90 each) it was unacceptable. The service was extremely slow (though our waitress was nice, I'll give her that), the sushi was average to below average, even the steak appetizer was pretty bad. The only two good things we had were the duck appetizer and the wine. I am only writing this review to warn you not to waste your time here, there are other much better sushi places in NYC that are less expensive with both a better atmosphere and much better food (try Japonais, Haru or Azuki near Union Square). Pros: Nice waitress, girl collecting coats Cons: below average sushi, very expensive, sterile ambiance (and the list goes on) more

Do not be fooled! 2/2/2007

Going to the Waldorf Hotel you expect prestige and top notch quality from its restaurants. So it was a SURPRISE to our large group when the food served was significantly subpar and bland. The salmon tartar appetizer was mediocre while the steak cooked on a stone was extremely bland and ordinary. My friend's tofu dish tasted like it came right out of the box from a store which she didn't even want to finish. It was truly a disappointing experience as a more satisifying meal could of come at 1/10 of the price.\r \r Do not be fooled in coming here. Pros: Ambience, Decor, Service Cons: FOOD, FOOD, FOOD more

expensive bad food 2/1/2007

The food was extremely disappointing. There was a group of 12 of us celebrating a friend's birthday and not one of us liked the food. The salmon tartare I had was bland, consisting of mediocre salmon chopped up with a couple dollops of sour cream on top. It was not visually appealing or tasty at all. The sushi was sub par. Something you can get at a restaurant for about one tenth of the price. Desert wasn't any better either. The tofu flan was boring, something you can get at an Asian grocery store any day of the week. So not a place I'd recommend unless you want to pay a lot for a whole lot of nothing. Cons: food, decor more

Beware... 1/28/2007

Dissapointing: we went here for restaurant week, so perhaps it is much better when you order off the menu during regular evenings. The food was scance, normal, totally average. With $7 soup, wouldn't you expect it to be life changing? \r \r Beware...you have been warned. :) Pros: Nice way to serve meat on a hot stone. Cons: Not worth the price tag in my opinion. more

Delicious UNAGI !! 8/30/2006

I went to Inagiku for lunch with my girlfriends from work. i had the unagi atop brown rice and it was absolutely incredible, i thought the sauce was excellent. the sashimi that my friends ordered were good too. i also recommend the seaweed salad and the shrimp and avocado appetizer. our servers were very pleasant and the restaurant was very quiet and had beautiful decor. it was a gorgeous place and i would definitely return. i was hoping they had green tea ice cream but they only had red bean or the tofu flan. i am not a fan of flan at all, so i found the tofu flan most bland and unappetizing. Pros: UNAGI, service, decor Cons: dessert more

really bad sushi 2/3/2006

maybe it was because we came during restaurant week, but the food was below average. the host was unpleasant as was one of our waitresses. i ordered the sushi which was no better than sushi from the deli, my appetizer of beef wrapped with scallion was decent and the dessert of tofu flan was ok. overall though, i was extremely disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant. more

So So 2/5/2005

I am alergic to shellfish and when ordering the sushi platter I asked if they could just put some plain pieces of anything other than shellfish and they said no. It wasn't until we were about to leave that they agreed to accommodate. The service got worse as the meal went on. I'd never go back. more

so so at best 1/27/2005

I went here for restaurant week, and I know that means I didn't get their top dishes, but I found the food very disappointing. To make matters worse, the service was less than stellar as well. The extra $$ this places costs gets you better ambience, but the food is not much better than your local Japanese dive. Pros: layout, ambience Cons: food quality, portion, service more

Great date place! 6/25/2004

Went for restaurant week, but the meniu looked so good we chose many of their little dishes instead. The shark fin on consomme pool, with egg custard made me think I was in Tokyo! Their Tai Kabuto-ni, head of Japanese snapper, simmered in broth - AMAZING! The dishes just kept coming! I wish I'd had a bigger stomach! Wonderful! I'll definately return! Delicious! To top it off, the restaurant is so spacious that you felt you had it all to yourself! Pros: Helpful Staff, Good Sake Menu, Spacious restaurant more

Pleasant Surprise 5/31/2004

I have walked and/or ridden by this place for over 30 years and never tried it, believing hotel restaurants were limited. Recently, I was proven wrong. The food is very good, the service is exceptional and I can't believe it took me so long to get there. Try the clam appetizer! Pros: food, service more

Good Sushi 4/27/2003

When me and my girl friend got there around 6, it was pretty empty so we were seated right away. i ended up getting $70 omakase, which i did NOT think that was worth $70 for, however it came out with 5 appez and 1 main dish. Sushi was good, could have been fresher i thought. My girl friend got Shabu shabu, and she had fun with it....:) what i recommend is ""FUTOMAKI!!!""....it was the best futomaki that i ever had.....had eel, shrimp, mushroom, spinach, egg and japanese pickle...it was so delicious. so i suggest that if you want some good rolls, def go here. !!! (Plus cherry Sake was so goooood too!!!) even though we end up dropping $170!!!!! Pros: good Rollsq, atmosphere more

Not for all tastes 4/26/2003

Japanese dishes are normally dubtle in flavor. Their dishes are more for presentation rather then taste. But this place lacked in both. The sushi wasn't so fresh, the udon noodle soup was bland and the tempura, though flakey, was a let down once dipped in their nearly flavorless sauce. Sure the atmosphere was nice though I couldn't seem to find the sushi bar... The wait staff were all friendly and the service was unusually fast for a Japanese restaurant. Still not enough for me to return. Pros: fast service, Friendly staff, Nice atmosphere Cons: bland food, expensive more

Great if you choose right 2/12/2003

Inagiku is unique in that there is no mediocre dishes; either really good or really terrible. For example, their sushi/sashimi is not up to par, but I love their foie gras sushi. I like their filet mignon and eel tempura is great. more
