Sex and the City Lives! 10/29/2010

I found out about this store because it was the store that had the one-day sale of all the leftover wardrobe from Sex and the City (I'm a HUGE Sex and the City fan!). So naturally I'm curious to see what this place is all about. And while there's no more SATC stuff there anymore, they carry on the spirit of the show with the kind of clothes they have there. Obviously, they have Manolos, but also Chanel, Gucci, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, and pretty much every other high end designer you can imagine. It's like dying and going to fashion heaven! I had a hard time walking out with just one thing (a cute Chanel clutch purse, by the way) as the prices are soooo good. I haven't seen designer consignment prices this low anywhere else. Obviously they know how to reel in real fashionistas there (the store was packed with happy customers the day I went). more

Ina is The Best! 10/27/2010

In my humble opinion, this sister store to Ina on Thompson Street has been unfairly criticized. The clothing selection here is off the hook, much better than you will find at other consignment stores in the area (and I should know - I'm a fanatic for consignment). The prices are competitive and fair. Sure, it's expensive, but (A) it's still far, far less than you'd pay if you bought it new, and (B) it's New York - nothing is cheap here! Get over it, people! Plus, I don't know what people expect, but every time I've gone in there, the staff has been great. They are smart, they are funny, and they are helpful. Period, the end. Don't believe anything else you read on here about the staff being snobby. It's just not true. Of course, I always make a point of being friendly and outgoing to the staff wherever I go, so maybe that makes a difference. Anyway, back to the clothes selection. In a word: FANTASTIC! They have cute shoes galore, which I am a sucker for, and lots of fun bags. I could spend all day in there just ogling the bags. Heaven! And, just in general, they have the very best designer labels. The very best. Any major designer you can think of is in there. And the quality of the clothes is brand spanking new. No matter what you go in there looking for, you will not be disappointed. more

Great shop! 7/23/2010

I just found this little store while walking around downtown. I can't believe I've never been here before! Great clothes, and there was a sale going on so things were really cheap. I went to the other one a few blocks away afterwards and I found more there too. It was a little crowded but I guess that's what happens when there is a sale. A great place to stop by, but be careful, it's hard to leave! Pros: Great selection, helpful staff Cons: hard to leave with any money left over more

I do not understand this place 4/28/2010

I am not sure how Ina's little empire stays in business. I not only shop resale but I also shop in the regular stores, as well. That being so I am amazed that they have the gaul to price the clothing so AGGRESSIVELY. By that I mean it is VERY EXPENSIVE. I recently saw a Chanel knit dress from 07P selling for twice what it cost on sale. Obviously the peolpe who shop here have too much money and do not know where else to spend it. If they only looked at the group of resale stores on the UES of manhattan they might never shop in Ina's again. Pros: A few nice pieces Cons: PRICES, STAFF more

Service is so bad it's not worth it 8/24/2009

One good thing I'd say about this shop is the layout and clothes are arranged in good order. But that's about the only good part of it. The stock is OK for a consignment store, lots of YSL and Chloe, but they aren't cheap. These days, you can find better bargains for ""old season new clothes"" on the internet, you don't have to tolerate the appalling staff in this store. There are also a few knock-offs Chloe tops mixed in there. I am not surprised, as the staff there seem to be rude and clueless, they probably can't tell knock-offs from genuine items! When I tried on a Chloe dress, the ribbon belt was broken, so I asked the staff if they know how to tie it back, they have zero interest in helping me, you can't find more unhelpful staff than these and also I find it very strange that they don't even seem to be interested in fashion - why work there? Forget it, there are way better bargains out there. Pros: Some good stuff can be found Cons: Incredibly rude and ""ignorant"" staff, some knock-offs found more

The best consignment store in NYC! 7/10/2009

Ina is one of the best sources for any fashionista. I absolutely love shopping here. Whenever a friend or family member comes into the city- this is a shopping destination. With 5 NYC locations around the city and each one offering different selections you are sure to scoop up favorites from many of the hottest designers- Marc Jacobs, Christian Dior, Gucci, Helmut Lang, and Halston to name a few. Shoes, bags, dresses, tops- INA has it all- to my shopping-hearts content and yours! I have been shopping here for years and have even consigned things to them. If you love fashion - look no further than INA! more

No longer impressed... 10/24/2008

The salespeople here have far too much attitude. I've shopped and consigned here for several years, and I'm going elsewhere in the future. The past several times I called in advance to make an appointment, and they were booked for weeks. When they do grant you an appointment, you're treated as if you are lucky they are looking at your garments. This is a consignment shop people...not brain surgery! There are too many good shops in NYC to be subjected to the attitude here. Next! more

If you look past the attitudes of the sales clerks, this place has a great selection! 6/23/2006

The clothing here is great -- beautiful, pristine and, although pricier than most second-hand shops, a lot of the things are new or barely used at more than half off the original price! They are very selective about the brands they offer, so you won't waste time sifting through a lot of duds to discover a designer deal. I just wish they had more to choose from because if you don't buy something that catches your eye, chances are someone else will snap it up before you've had a chance to return for it! The only thing I have not liked is the ""I'm so bored and busy being bored to deal with you or be nice to you"" attitudes of most of their salesgirls -- they seem to forget that our business pays their wages! Other than the slightly hoity toity-ness of the Ina girls, I hope this place is around forever. Perhaps they will some day learn to bring their level of customer service up to match their high level of designer clothing selection. Pros: selection of items (being picky about which designers are offered), condition of clothing Cons: rude salesgirls, items get snapped up so they never go on sale more

Cute shop! 10/1/2004

This is the store in Nolita to check out. The same clothes as over in soho but for halfthe price. It's not for everyone, my mom couldn't find anything in her size, but me and my girlfriend went crazy. You have to really want to find things here, there is only one of everything. But it is worth the hunt! The salespeople were not pushy, which I like. If you like the feeling of salespeople hovering over you and constantly checking in, this is not for you either. more

Small store charm 10/1/2004

I read some of the reviews that these other women wrote and I have to say I disagree. The salespeople here were very nice to me. Maybe the women who had problems here should go shop at Banana Republic, or the Gap. Someplace where they pay someone to stand in the door and say ""Hello That is definitely not happening here, but who needs more corporate stores when you can have cute, homey ones like this. Great stuff, friendly staff. Really ladies, it's embarrassing to hear you all complain. Get over yourselves!!! more

great find! 10/1/2004

I felt so lucky the day I stumbled across Ina. They have an amazing selection of affordable designer clothing, and you don't even notice that the merchandise is ""previously owned"", as described by a sales person. For anyone looking for that special something you thought you couldn't afford I recommend you check this place out! Pros: great prices more

Why buy Retail? 10/1/2004

This place is nothing like some of the other vintage/thrift shops I have been to. Everything at the store was in good condition. It took me a while to know I was even in a consignment shop. The selection is very downtown trendy, so if that's what you're in to you should definitely check it out. I found some great shoes that were marked down half price, and a Dior bag that I had been dreaming about but could not afford. Pros: great selection more

Overated! 8/5/2004

It is only because of the high turnover of merchandise that INA is still in business. The staff is extremely rude and un-helpful and I've even witnessed a long & harsh (and loud) beratement of a customer by one of the staff b/c she had not put shoes away that she tried on. I'd prefer to pay more money, and get nice service. The variety of clothing is nice, though they have bumped up prices grossly in the last year (for 4 season old stuff). I, unfortunately, have seen a few knockoffs being sold as well. I do not know if this is an oversight on their part, or deliberate. Tacky, nonetheless. Save your shopping dignity and dollars for a trip to a consignment shop with class. Pros: good neighborhood, good variety of stuff Cons: , WAY overpriced, selling knockoffs 2! more

Worth it, but maybe Uptown? 6/23/2004

Ina is a great consignment chain- good prices and an amazing selection. However, for some reason when I have been to the Nolita store the women working were either too busy ordering lunch from up the street (and yelling in the phone to make sure that they didn't ""skimp"" on the salmon) or trying on shoes for sale on the sales floor. One time, when I went to the register to buy a top, I had to wait for them to stop gossiping for at least a minute for them to even look my way! It's worth a trip for the selection alone, but either don't take the sales staff seriously at all or go to another one of their locations. Pros: Great selection, quality merchandise, affordable prices Cons: , sex and the city hype more

What Deals! 9/28/2002

I found so many great deals here that I have given up on shopping any where else! For the price of one sweater at Barney's I got six pieces! Great shop guys! more

Love it! 8/7/2002

I used to visit this place all the time when I lived in NYC for 4 yrs.Now that I live elsewhere- i ALWAYS make it a pt to stop by here when my travels take me to NYC. I have found GREAT designer items from Costume National, Tocca, Tracy Feith that are my wardrobe standout items. This place can't be beat. more

Snotty & Overpriced 8/5/2002

I live one block away from this store and used to walk in on a regular basis I've since stopped because I have never found anything of good value. The people who work here are seriously snobby and the clothes are really pricey. more

Where's the designer clothes? 6/21/2002

I couldn't find any designer clothes and I think the prices were very high for used no-brand names! I got no service what-so-ever. Not even a hi! Cons: no service, no designer clothes more
