For years the Waverly, famous for a lyric in "Hair" stood empty and disruptive at the iconic, albeit somewhat seedy Village corner of Sixth Avenue and West Fourth Street. It has been reborn as the IFC Center, a three screen cinema haven with cafe (and soon restaurant) that is a destination for indie films and indie film lovers. Perhaps this will signal a new era for the area.
