This place rules! I go there everytime I'm in MPLS, and I've found a number of great records there at attractive prices. The peeps who work there are really friendly and knowledgable as well. Dig it. more

I live in KY but visit family in Minneapolis several times a year. I always visit Hymie's for the vinyl and the atmosphere. I am addicted to the front entrance 50 cent bin area (where most likely you will also find the pup sunning herself). Nice friendly and knowledgable folk too! What's not to love? more

Every time I come here I find something for my collection. Its the only record store in the twin cities I can say that about. On one such occasion I literally had two soundtracks in mind that I was looking for. One being the Odd Couple and the other being Hitchcock's Torn Curtain. After a few minutes of digging through the extensive section of movie soundtracks, I found both!!! What are the odds? Hymie's has also been there for my Jazz tastes and of course my Beatles obsession. Please go inside and soak everything in. Stare at the goodies on the walls and treat yourself to a Japanese Bee Gees 45'. I'm sure they have one floating around somewhere. more

As much as I liked Hymie's old location, I LOVE the new store. Everything is so organized and easy to find, plus Hymie's prices are very reasonable. Other record stores seem to think anything old is an collector's item and they hang it on the wall with an outrageous price tag. At Hymie's I always find something incredible that I can't wait to get home and play, and it's usually under $5. more

Simply one of the best record stores (if not THE best) in the Twin Cities - organized with care, with a ton of room to go explore and discover (check the ""Difficult Listening"" and ""Make Out Music"" sections). Dave and Laura are the kind of shop owners that want you to be comfortable, and they've created an environment where you can easily have that - be it in an easy chair by a listening station, a nice conversation with them about music or the neighborhood, or just leaving you alone to do your thing. There's no snobbery, but a lot of knowledge. Not a ton of NEW stuff, but a ton of GOOD stuff. I go there for country, soul & r&b and local music, but usually leave with something totally unexpected under my arm. Anyone serious about their record collection should plan to spend an hour there. Anyone else, totally worth a stop-in or two. more

Great service and great selection. If you can't find what you're looking for, odds are good that the staff can. I like kids and dogs, and actually prefer to shop at a family-owned establishment. more
