BRILLIANT 7/12/2009

Spent 3 days and nights at the hotel. It is beautiful and has just redone the spa which is incredible. Staff were amazing, polite and willing to do that little bit extra to make the stay special. The GM is doing a great job and makes himself available to everyone..... Pros: Ambiance, Accommodation, Wine Bar, Cons: None more

Ist class attitude of staff 10/20/2008

Conference food was much above average. Staff was very courteous. Room was very comfortable. At checkout I mentioned that all of the shuttle transportation stopped right under my window for passenger pickup. Suggested they relocate the pickup to a more open public area.Without blinking the desk person apologized profusely and comped me with my final night for free. Pros: Fantastic staff Cons: room location by shuttle stop more

Good value, nice accomodations, beautiful grounds. 8/10/2008

We stayed there for 3 nights and were satisfied with the overall experience. The rooms were nicely appointed and comfortable. The bathroom was large and comfortable even though there was no bathtub. Its location is easy to access off of both the 68 and PCH, however it is a bit too far off the Wharf to walk. This is something to think about because we had to drive to and from the attractions and parking was HORRID. There were receptions/weddings two of the nights and it took us 15-20 minute to find parking. Also, although it wasn?t a problem during our stay there is NO A/C in the rooms. They have a heater for the cool nights, but I don?t know what I would do if the temperature was above 80 degrees. Pros: Value. Customer Service. Facilities Cons: PARKING. Not driver friendly. No A/C more

Great Dining Room Service 1/5/2008

These words are being written by a Zagat Reviewer and a public health professional. We just had a Saturday night dinner in the quasi-elegant fine dining room of this, possibly the largest hotel and conference center on the Monterey Peninsula, adjoining the Pebble Beach Company's Old Del Monte Golf Course, one of the oldest, if not the oldest publically accessible Golf Course in California. If you like a bar and lounge with loud music with your $$$$ Saturday night dinner then this is your place. If you like to share a men's bathroom with filthy drunken bums from a sports bar across from this dining room, on a Saturday night, then this is your place too. But finally, if you like to dine in a restaurant with an open kitchen whose sinks seem to connect with that horror of a men's bathroom mentioned above and where my green salad seemed to contain e.coli, probably from being washed with sink water into which water from the men's toilets has leeched, then for the $50.00 or so my dinner cost someone else (I had Pellagrino for my before dinner "drink"), then, at least in my humble opinion, you will have had a fine dining experience on the Monterey Peninsula that should last you a lifetime. We have been eating there for near 11 years, breakfast, lunches, dinners, Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, what have you, and it has only, at least in my experience in "eating out" which includes a childhood on New York City's Manhattan Island and adulthood in San Francisco, California in such restaurants as shall remain nameless here, gone downhill. But I can tell you this, that my fine dining experience includes places where billionaire businessmen take their families out for a free corporate meal and where my senior Senatorr from the State of California likes to eat out, too. Tums before and after this "ultimate hotel dining' experience plus a good swig of "peto" fixed me up fine. Have a good one. (Please post as is; thank you and Happy New Year) Pros: Great House Security. Every employee is a security guard. Cons: Parking on Saturday Night is Almost Impossible. more

Kind of crummy for a Hyatt 9/18/2007

Small room, musty smell and unattractive grounds adds up to an OK hotel with pretty good service, but still a disappointment Pros: service Cons: room qulaity and size more

Hyatt 10/13/2006

This Hyatt is not my favorite and I would expect more from it being in the Monterey area. It does have a golf course on site and is located near all the local attractions. more

They gave away our reservation and made us stay in a smoking room 9/8/2006

I reserved my room on the Hyatt web-site. I got a confirmation number, and an e-mail stating that the Hyatt family was excited to welcome me on my upcoming trip to Monterey. We drove six hours from Los Angeles to Monterey. We arrived at 530 PM. And Melinda at the front desk said they had no room for us. I showed Melinda the reservation printout. She said they were "overbooked" There was only one room left, and it was smoking room. She generously offered $25 off this fabulous room. I suggested that Hyatt should give me the room for free. They did. It was fee, but smelly, so probably not worth it. PROS: None CONS: Gave away room, despite reservation. Very uncool more

Well located, nice hotel 6/25/2005

Located just minutes away from all your Monterey attractions, this hotel/resort is a good place to stay. It's clean and comfortable and has a golf course on the premises. more

Not as Nice as it Should Be 6/21/2005

If you get a great deal, this is a really nice place to stay in the Monterrey/Carmel area. This hotel has a golf course on the premises and I can't speak to that since I don't golf. The rooms are fine, they'd be great even , as a 3-star hotel. Unfortunately, this Hyatt bills itself as a 4-star "resort" and charges you a special per night "resort fee" that 'includes' such mandatory items as bottled water and parking. It's all fine as long as you don't pay 4-star prices for your room. more
