Nothing Else Like it Around 1/7/2006

If you show up thinking you are going to a garden you might be disappointed. This is an arboretum which means it is a collection of trees. Because trees get large they are spread out over acres of ground. They do have paved trails and good maps and even free tours. Go to the website or call to find out when tours and events are planned. There are special times to go such as when all the Magnolia trees are in bloom, and they do have them in a certain area. Go first to the gift shop for a map of the grounds. Try not to do it all in one day if you are not too athletic. Wear good walking shoes and bring a bottle of water and a camera and you will enjoy yourself immensely. more

Family Time on the Cheap 12/30/2005

If you like to walk and you like plants, this is the place to go. I myself am not a big walker or plant lover, so it did not hold the interest for me it did for my mother in law. She was visiting from Indiana and felt sheer joy during the time in the Arboretum. There are so many different types of plants and a nice reprieve during the summer months when its hot. Lots and lots of shade and a nice breeze. Best of all, it's free. For the nature lover with good endurance, a nice place to take a walk more
