The delivery was speedier than originally estimated. The delivery man was extremely sweet (after having traveled in the snow of the Nor'easter). The food was delicious, cooked to specifications, and the Jameson whiskey gravy was amazing!! Highly recommend. more

Great Food ! What else needs to be said. more

Great Atmosphere 7/9/2009

Great location, excellent rock music that was selected by the bartenders. Excellent beer and food menus. Pros: Great 90s rock music, beer selection more

Great neighborhood bar 7/6/2009

I recently celebrated my birthday at House of Brews and they bent over backwards to make it a special night. The food was good and plentiful, everyone in my party was treated wonderfully and everyone on staff - the manager, the bartenders and the wait staff made sure that the party was a success. Special commendation goes to our waitress, Jena, who worked extremely hard for us, promptly took care of all our needs and always did so with a smile and a winning personality. She definitely added to the celebratory evening. Pros: The staff, the beer selection, the atmosphere Cons: Gets crowded more

Great Beer! 7/3/2009

Had a few great time - Jena helped us pick some great beers...loved the hoptical illusion. Pros: Lots of beer, awesome fried oreos and a great staff! Cons: they don't actually have the beers they say they do more

New flat screens, bad picture! 6/30/2009

Great bartender(colin),great food(like the new menu), great beer selection but very poor quality picture on the new flat screen tvs'.Bring back the old tube tvs'. more

awesome beer, awesome waitress! 6/23/2009

came in and sat downstairs after seeing the 2-4-1 stella sign and wound up having some other awesome brews that our waitress suggested (pretty sure her name was jenna). after talking to her i would now consider myself a better educated beer drinker! also they have great onion rings and a beer and burger lunch deal--i highly recommend this place! Pros: 2 for 1 stella, fried food, cool staff, great selection more

Good spot for a B-Day party 4/30/2009

My friend Emily had her b-day party here last week in the loubge room upstairs and the staff could not have been nicer. They were very understanding about all the seperate checks and specials requests. We had our own little room off the main bar that had couches and a giant flat screen tv. I was drinking a blueberry beer and it had fresh blueberrys in it. Nice touch! Pros: reasonable priced beers, cute waitress Cons: loud, crowded more

Solid beer selection in midtown 4/29/2009

Stumbled upon this place last night with meeting an old friend. As luck would have it itwas 2 for 1 Stella night. Can't beat $3 stellas any day. 20-30 odd taps and about 60 bottles on their list. Solid selection of local brews. We tried the nachos and chicken fingers and both were prety good. Nice place, wood bars with flat screens for the Ranger game. Pros: Half price beer night! Cons: Location more

HUGE dissapointment 4/28/2009

i am a local that has been coming to the house of brews for a while now. in the past i could not find a negative thing to say about the place but recently my opinion has changed. the only two stand out things that remain for me are the daytime bartender colin who is fantastic and Dana a waitress, both have been there as long as i have been a patron. It is very regretful that this place hhas been tainted for me because i truly enjoyed it but a few weeks ago i encountered kate..a manager who has been around for i guess a short time..but i saw her berating the staff and hovering over the patrons. i felt sorry for the girls on the floor..i work in the industry so i may be a little more in tuned with things of this nature but SOOOOO unprofessional. i have never been turned off by this place before and its a shame because im just not sure ill be back. to the owner..your staff is wonderful..as far as this new addition..not so much..take it from someone whos spent a very decent amount of money at your establishment. more

OK but not great 12/6/2008

The beer list was extensive and the service was great. My only complaint was that some drunk guy was flipping out on a waitress and made a bit of a scene. Should have been brought under control and wasn't at all. Other than that it was uneventful. A good bar if you don't mind the b&t crowd. Pros: Good Beer, not the worst music Cons: out of control patrons were allowed to stay even while acting dangerously more

Dependable Beer and Grub in Theatre District 12/4/2008

Tasty fresh beers on tap and in bottles starting at a reasonable 5.50 (although how big is that glass?!) and large portions of well cooked food. I had the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwhich which was a solid steak cooked to be lovely and juicy with a mountain of fries. If you're going to a show and don't want a full on dinner menu this is the place, everything was delivered to our table of four extremly swiftly. The menu seems to have more variety at the joint than on this website, including for instance a bean burger for veggies. Pros: Beer, food Cons: Not bargain cheap but in this 'hood what do you expect... more

Crowded House 3/5/2008

I'm part of a weekly Wednesday drinking group of 30 or so regulars who love to drink, geek out, talk and eat after work. We check out a different bar each week. We've been kicking around the city for 12 years. In that time we've visited several hundred bars (with repeats of faves). This place is similar to the Ginger Man in midtown-- amazing beer selection, but because of it, they suffer from overcrowding at times. I'm a big fan of wheat beers, berry beers and winter ales, House of Brews does not disappoint. The food was good, the service was erratic, but a group of 20 can be unwieldy at times. It's interesting to see which establishments can handle large, unexpected groups with grace. Next time, I'll call ahead when I have a group of 5 or more to guarantee seats. I think we'll drop in on the two other bars a few doors away before heading back to House of Brews for a second visit . They caught my eye while smoking a cigarette outside. Pros: Beer Selection, Decent Food Cons: Crowded more

Wide variety 1/19/2007

Wow! impressive list of brews on tap. We went on a Friday night and standing room only. service was prompt and beers were cold. couldn't as for much more. Pros: Selection Cons: Crowds more

HOUSE OF BREWS ROCKS MY SOCKS 12/9/2006

they're for the cause. amazing. simply amazing. the bartender is better looking than any other in this city, especially the wrecked pay-for-fun-females at 230 fifth. Pros: they're for the cause Cons: they could be a little bit more for the cause more

Great beer selection at a reasonable price 10/30/2006

Great place. Beers are reasonably priced and they have a large selection. Food is good. I enjoy coming here whenever I get the chance. It gets busy but is not overly packed. It is small, but there is an upstairs to eat and drink. Pros: Beer selection, staff, nice Cons: Small more

House of Fun 10/6/2006

Drink, sing and be merry at this wannabe sports bar. I like it when they turn up the music during random moments during the night. The food is pretty decent, shockingly enough. Try heading out here for Happy Hour. Pros: Variety, Service, Music Cons: Small, Crowded more

Great Beer Selection 4/14/2006

Huge beer list, I tried a leffe from Belgium and it was great. Pretty crowded but not packed in like sardines. Try the frites or the German Bratwurst. Pros: Lots of beers, Good Apps, Outside Tables Cons: Busy upstairs more

Baseball Season 4/8/2006

Went here on Monday 4/3 to watch opening night of baseball. TONS of large, flat screen TV's! You can view multiple TV's from any seat in the house. Very comfortable atmosphere with large booths for groups, high bar tables, and a lounge area with couches. Great selection of beer and the appetizer selection was versitile. I recommend an ice cold BEER BONG full of Leffe and the sliders. Few of the waitresses had some nice a**es!!! This will be my home for the 2006 baseball season. Pros: Atmosphere, TV's more

Great time had by all 3/4/2006

Went to the 51st location for the first time last Saturday for a friends birthday party and had a great time. Great looking waitress kept the brews flowing all night. Huge beer selection and GIANT BEER BONGS they fill with any of their drafts and you pour your own draft!! Pros: Beer Selection, Music, Great vibe more
