I have been a client at House Productions for many years. Most of the time I go to Michael. He is certainly one of the top stylists in town and I am always happy with the results. But over the years, when I have had schedule conflicts with Michael's schedule, I have also had a number of other stylists cut my hair and I have always been satisfied. The atmosphere is professional and all the staff is always friendly. more

I've gotten my hair done at House Productions a handful of times. Each time, I've arrived at my appointment on time only to have to wait 20 or more minutes for my stylist to finish the appointment before me. I don't mind that and I wouldn't normally bring it up except, well, you'll see... One time back in February, they canceled my appointment two days in a row due to snow - snow that never came!! Pre-emptive snow. That pissed me off but I continued to patronize the salon since I liked the cuts I got. Earlier this week, I called to make an appointment for today, Friday. Like most people, I work, and so I asked if they had anything available after 5pm. The woman on the phone said that they usually make their appointments for on the hour but she said that they could squeeze me in if I got there by 5:15 or 5:20. So I left work a few minutes early and spent 30 minutes on a Septa bus during rush hour. I got to House Productions at 5:22. As soon as I showed up, the receptionist said, ""Oh, we just tried to call you. Anthony has a 6:00 so he doesn't have time for your cut."" Let me repeat: I LEFT WORK EARLY. I SPENT HALF AN HOUR ON A BUS. I WAS TWO MINUTES LATE. And I was turned away. I suspect that they'd have no problem making their 6:00 wait. But it's Friday night and they want to make it to happy hour. Oh. Also. My haircuts are not complicated. I'm usually in and out in less than 40 minutes. Good riddance, House Productions. Kacie has been coloring my hair for several years and my color is absolutely PERFECT every time. She has an amazing eye for what colors would look best with your skin tone and current hair color. I will never let anyone else color my hair as long as I live in Philadelphia! more

Jess has done my hair for 3 years now and every cut gets better and better! I disagree with what this person says and obviosly that wasn't a review but a bashing. Not what this site is for!!! Jess gives great haircuts!! more

I've gone to Katie at House Productions a few times in the last year. I moved here from LA and was worried about finding someone to cut my hair. But it is safe to say I?ve found a stylist I can trust in Katie. She was able to fix my hair after it had been growing out of a horrific cut from another place. And just yesterday, she gave me a super cute and low maintenance style to sport while I am growing my hair out. I have super curly hair, which a lot of people have a hard time with ? but she understands the different textures within my hair and adjusts the cut accordingly. Pros: Good location/short wait more

I've been going to Megan for 2+ years and she is by far, the best stylist I've ever had for my curly hair. I can wear my hair curly or straight with her cuts...and, boy can she get my hair straight too. She spends a lot of time cutting -- my appointments run an hour, but I wouldn't trade that time for a fast, crappy cut. Pros: Beautfil cuts for curly hair more

I went to House Productions at its old location and after a hiatus came back to the new location. I agree that it can get super hot there but I absolutely cannot agree with the negative comments about Jessica. I found her after asking a girl with great hair who her stylist was. I have been going for over a year and love her work! I have long curly hair (I always wear it straight), and she is great with layers giving my hair shape without looking like I am trapped in the 80-90's. She absolutely listens to my ideas and for the first time EVER I actually like my hair. When my mom came for Christmas she gave her a much needed new style which looked great-and my mom has short super fine hair. The colorist who did my mom's hair did a great job too. i agree totally with the negative review about jessica. i too was assigned to her as a stylist. i thought she was a doll and very nice and understood everything i had said about what i wanted, what my personal style was, and how not high maintenance i am with hair. it was the worst hair cut i had in my life! i asked for blunt straight across, and it was a v. i went from having super long flowing locks to all one length to my shoulders then frizzy thin layers underneath. i asked for hair that would lay naturally and not end up being a high maintenance hair cut... it was not! i cried and complained. the other stylists and colorists were wonderful. without them, i probably would have freaked out. one of the stylist tried to fix it for me but there was little she could do. the salon did very little to help my dissatisfaction. on top of all this, during idle chit chat one has with her hairdresser, we found out we had friends in common. actually, my ex of all people. i later found out because i talked to the manager about my dissatisfaction, jessica told my ex all about me calling the salon when she saw him in a bar afterward! she actually told him i was crying and being a baby! she most likely did not know we would eventually speak but i found out everything she said. it was immature and very unprofessional. obviously, jessica is an amateur on every level. i was appalled and now tell everyone i can to never, ever, go there. what a disappointment! more

I was getting desperate- I'm one of those people that has had so many bad haircuts, I'm willing to pay top dollar just to get some thing that looks modern. I had been going to another salon in Philly but after being ignored in their waiting room for 30 minutes, I vowed never again- I tried House Productions on a recommendation. Pros: best haircut of my life, you'll get exactly what you ask for more

Lauren is the best. I have never had such a good haircut. She has been cutting my hair for close to 5 years and has always made me look stylish. My friend just had a foot of hair cut off by Lauren and feels like a Goddess. That's how good Lauren's cuts are-- you don't ever have to have a bad hair day with her perfect cut. I really am just a customer (but a satisfied one). Pros: perfect technique, always on time Cons: sometimes I have to wait for an opening, but it's worth it more

i can't believe i just saw a negative review about jessica, who has been my stylist for the past two years. i think she is amazing! i hope to be her client for the rest of my life -- she always does a fantastic job and is very sweet and talkative. it's hard for me to imagine anyone having a bad experience with her, so i had to ring in with my props :) Pros: knowledgable, talented stylists and colorists more

I started going to Devon at House Productions a few years ago after a friend swore up and down she was the best. I had grown my hair out super long and wanted to donate it, but was scared to death to cut it. Devon did an amazing job (best cut of my life!), and I have been going back to her every since. I have really thick hair, and have had many bad experiences with bad haircuts because my hair is such a challenge. I have yet to be disappointed with a cut and get complemented constantly on my hair. Nothing else matters about a salon if your hair makes you feel great, and that is the least I can say about Devon's cuts. more

I was here to get the tips of my hair dyed blue. It turned out better than I expected. The blue was a fantastic blue purplish color that changed in the light. But as I found myself walking in the city with my hair, the color in my hair quickly began to fade. Maybe it was because I was so self concience about it, in my mind it started to fade. But what do i know, I'm only in highschool. The woman that did my hair was very nice, but she was also styling/dying another woman's hair, so half way through my hair apointment, she began to run back and forth between us two. It might only be today, because the colorist that was supposed to dye my hair was sick, and they were under in staff. It was a comfortable environment and everyone at the studio was friendly and very productive, i highly reccomend it. I am pretty sure I will go back and get my hair dyed again, but with a lighter color to contrast with my very dark, almost black hair. This place is amazing even with my slight problems. My friend recommended it to me, and now I am recommending it to anyone out there in philly who enjoys an awesome hair dye. :) more

worst experience I ever had at a saloon. jessica was my stylist and was unprofessional and very rude. i will never go back more

I was told when I made my appointment that the salon only made appointments on the hour (I requested a 1:30 but had to make a 1:00 instead). I arrived at 12:55 for my 1:00 appt. and checked in at reception and was told to sit in the waiting area. Then another girl came over and asked my name, what stylist I had, and gave me a robe. It was a hot day late in June, and the salon was uncomfortably warm. I waited. At 1:20, I was still waiting and no one had come over to tell me my stylist was running late or ask if I at least wanted a glass of water while I waited. I went over to ask the receptionist if there was something wrong. I told her that I had been waiting 20 minutes with no word, and she told me no one had told her anything, either. Then she checked and found out the stylist would be another 15 minutes with her client! Meanwhile, the stylist was chatting away doing highlights on her 12:00 client. I asked if I could at least speak with a manager. They told me the manager, Jenn Weberine, was also with a client and would not be available for another 40 minutes. I have been seeing Jen for years now and she is the best! She always listens to what I want and delivers what I want. Its tough to find someone that knows what your trying to describe as a cut or how to re-create a magazine picture ( not all of us can pull off Katie Holmes new hair style), Jen always seems to be reading my mind and goes above and beyond my expectations. The salon is very nice , fun and always up on the new trends. If anyone is looking for a great cut call and book with Jen you will not be dissappointed! I have been going to this salon for about 2 years now and absolutely love it! Devon is my stylist and she does an amazing job - always listens carefully to want I and works with my hair to achieve the desired results. I went here regularly about ten years ago and it was great. I went again recently and once again, I walked out feeling like I got the best haircut of my life. Jessica was perfect and cool and really listened to what I wanted. She seemed to be able to tell how much of a risk I was willing to take. She also gives good reasons for why you may or may not want to do something. All in all, I love my cool haircut, I will most certainly go back, and I totally trust them. more
