Completely agree with both Arlo and Lynn this is not a place I would go back to, formerly a YMCA and most definietly feels like it!

Very disappointing. You'd think that when a hotel markets itself as historic, they'd try at some level to provide a sense of nostalgia... more

This historic hotel used to be a YMCA and it still feels like one. It is beyond bad taste or lacking in amenities, it is downright scary.... more

Close to all the sites of Baltimore 5/24/2008

My family and I have stayed in this hotel five times since December. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The staff and housekeiping are wonderful. We park at the garage across the street and just leave it there during our stay. We walk to the numerous sites that are around the hotel and the Inner Harbourt in about a 15 minute walk. I would recommend this hotel to someone who doesn't want to pay alot but wants to stay in Downtown Baltimore. We plan on staying there the next time we are in Baltimore. Pros: The location, staff and rooms Cons: No pool more

Great for the money 8/13/2005

We stayed at Mt. Vernon when flying in for an Orioles game. The hotel was about a mile from Camden Yards and 3 blocks from the Lite Rail. We got a King room with Jacuzzi tub and it was WONDERFUL. The room was very open and spacious and the bed was very comfy. We were not at the hotel very much and we knew we wouldnt be so we did not way to pay 250 a night for some of the other hotels around the inner harbor. The staff was absolutely wonderful!!! We had an awesome time. Whenever we go back to Baltimore we will most defiantly stay at Mt. Vernon again. Pros: Inexpensive, Wonderful Staff, Walking Distance Cons: Rooms were dark more

Not Quite There 9/2/2003

The Mount Vernon yearns to be an up-scale lodging, but misses on almost every count. Our recent experience was somewhat disappointing because we booked the Mount Vernon thinking it would be a sophisticated downtown hotel. At check-in, I asked for aspirin to relieve a thunderous headache caused by our tedious drive into Baltimore in driving rain. The staff couldn't accomodate me because the hotel medicine chest had not been restocked. Our internet-booked room was very small and dreary. The desk lamp shook from the energy created by two small fry in the adjoining room enjoying themselves. On the plus side, the room furnishings were handsome and in good condition. Original water color art adorned the walls and was a statement that hotel management was trying mightily to create an plush experience. The hotel is close by great dining and a moderate walk to the Inner Harbor. Pros: Location Cons: Vehicle park options more
