This company is unique. I called Hinding Company when my furnace was on the fritz and they came out right away (I?d never used them before, they were referred to me by a friend). I believe the guy?s name was Pat, he was great. Not only did Pat fix my furnace, but he also showed me exactly what to do if it stopped working again. He said it would save me the service call fee of having him back out, and it was easy enough & safe enough to do myself. Pat also gave me a quote for replacing the part, and said I may want to consider replacing the entire system someday due to lack of operating efficiency and wasted money on utilities. We recently had a brand new furnace installed, replacing our old one. They came out and gave us an estimate and we set up a date for the work to be done. They were very prompt in coming out, and the workers they sent were very professional and efficient. They answered all our questions with patience and understanding. The work they did was excellent. They removed the old furnace and put in the new one in just a couple of hours. They disposed of the old one and did an excellent job of putting in the new furnace. They cleaned up the mess and again offered us a chance to ask questions even after they left. They said we could call the office any time, with any question we have. Every employee with the company we dealt with were very nice and knowledgeable and did an outstanding job. Our house, built in 1908, used to be a duplex, so we had 2 (ancient) boilers; one to heat the main floor, the other to heat the second floor. When we decided to convert the duplex into a single family home, we had our heating company at that time (Not Hinding) come in and 'rig' the boilers so that there was 1 main boiler to heat and the 2nd would kick in to help if needed. When the 2nd boiler stopped working, that same company came in and said that it would cost a lot. We had learned that this other company wasn't meeting our expectations, more so that they accidentally didn't hook something up correctly and it could have become a serious issue. more

We needed to replace a very old furnace when we moved into a home we purchased last fall. The guys from Hinding came out and did a great job at a great price. Our new furnace has been working great all winter. Their prices definitely beat the competition, and they install the same high quality products as companies that charge more. During a recent cold snap, my twenty plus year old furnace went out on a Saturday night. I called Hinding Heating to see if they could come out to repair it (knowing that a replacement was over due). Tom stopped by a few minutes later and worked until 11PM to make sure I had heat for the evening. The next day I returned home and realized that it had gone out again. Tom stopped over with some space heaters to get me through Sunday night and ensured me he could have a new high efficiency furnace installed on Monday morning. In addition, he returned my payment for the unsuccessful repairs and only billed me for the new furnace and installation. They even processed the paperwork for my Xcel energy rebate. In late January we ordered a new furnace through Hinding Heating & Air. We have a gas boiler heating system. The furnace was installed without incident and worked as expected. The installers showed up at the expected time and went right to work. They knew what they were doing and soon had the new furnace installed and running. They removed the old furnace and cleaned up the area before leaving. We had a radiator on the front porch and decided to stop using it since we do not really use the front porch very much in the winter. That was a BIG mistake because the water still remained in the radiator. After a few days the radiator cracked because of the cold weather and began to leak. We called Hinding late in the day close to their closing time. To our surprise the owner Tom came to our home even though this was after their normal closing time. He explained to us our blunder in a very friendly manner and then went to the basement and disconnected the line going to the porch by cutting the pipe and capping it. He spent over an hour of his time, cutting pipes and capping them. Then he also cleaned up the area when he was finished. We asked him for the bill and he graciously declined to bill us. We were shocked. We highly recommend this company. more

I checked out several heating companies in the Twin Cities when I was looking for a more efficient boiler. Hinding Heating in St. Paul was the best fit. Their pricing was competitive and the staff was professional before, during and after the job. Plus, they're good guys. I like that the owner, Tom, stopped by my house and explained the options I had as far efficiency, installation and pricing. Hinding has been around for a long time -- I think since the 1930s -- and that's comforting to know. I'm happy I went with Hinding. These guys were good. We went to start up the furnace and nothing happened. We called Hinding and they were out to our house the same day. Our furnace was very old and we knew it was about time to replace it. They went over a bunch of options with us and decided to replace it with a high efficiency unit that came with rebates and tax credits. With the rebates, tax credits and efficiency savings this furnace was a great investment. CORRECTION to my review yesterday. I did qualify for the high efficiency rebates for my furnace, but the tax rebate will not be in effect until 2009. It was an option but I couldn't wait on the installation until 2009, my furnace was shot. Sorry about the confusion in my review yesterday, hopefully this one clears everything up. more

I had Hinding come out to repair my furnace when one of the major parts failed on a very cold winter day. They were able to come out right away and get the furnace working until we could purchase a new one. I then got quotes from 6 other heating companies. The Hinding quote was very competitive, we end up picking them because of the low cost, and high quality of the products they sold. The installation was done quickly within a couple days and was efficient (they were done in 2-3 hours), and the installers also explained to me how the system worked, which was very nice. The package they sold me was just want we needed. Sales was great sold just want we needed and nothing extra. It was a very good experience. Pros: Name brand (Carriers, Coleman), Fast service, Low price, Good value. Cons: I didn't ask for a 25x16x4"" filter case/boot which some competitors where offering, this is my fault. more
