OK, the service was good. The atmosphere was fun. You can get a shoe shine while you wait for your table. The food was very good except...the mashed potatoes. I love mashed potatoes. I don't eat instant potatoes. When I got my plate and took my first bite of potatoes I was stunned. It can't be, can it? Instant potatoes? Not at this price, surely? Second bite. Instant potatoes. How can they serve instant potatoes. The texture wasn't like instant potatoes. I couldn't eat them. I hesitantly told the waiter that the potatoes tasted like instant. He said that it's actually a mix of instant and not and he brought me a different side to have instead. All the other food was good, but it was just such a disappointment for me...instant potatoes.... more

We eat at Hills every once in awhile because it is a good place to meet for dinner. Even though it is loud, it isn’t so loud you can’t enjoy yourself. We especially love the steak dinners – they have the BEST baked potatoes. My husband likes just about everything he has had there, and my brother in law loves their rolls. We tell everyone we know about Hills. more

This is an established Austin Restaurant. Their fare varies from Huge Chicken Fried Steaks to Sandwiches, and more. The service is good, the music is Country/Eclectic, and loud. Don't let the old building fool you, this is a fun, great place to relax and feed your appetite. You can also see many stars that have come here. more

Hill's Cafe reopened a few years ago, after being closed for many years. They have a great indoor and outdoor stage and always have live music playing. They have the best Chicken Friend Steak with special cream sauce around. The barbecue sampler plate is really good too. The meat is always tender and juicy, and the waiters are very friendly and attentive. The wait is never to bad, and the music is always enjoyable. more
