Great Vale in the MPD 3/29/2011

Came here with a group when it was still called Highline...I believe its been operating as SEA for some time now.. Very good Thai food at VERY good prices...especially considering its location right in the heart of the MPD. The decor is very modern and nightclubesque. I would def. recommend it as a date spot, or for a large party. more

This is no longer called Highline, It's Called SEA 4/7/2010

First, Citisearch it's time to update the name of this place, they are running under SEA for nearly an year!!! They have the coolest lounge w/ great djs spinning and awesome bar! The casual hippie crowed makes you feel cool and comfortable, not like the some of the other spots in the neighborhood that is filled w/ snobs! The staff is very helpful, they offer a very casual service, nothing fancy and intimidating... Not one of those restaurants that makes you feel that YOU should be serving your waitter... model looking w/ french accent and big heads... Not here! This place everyone will treat you like friends and offer great recommendations and smiles. The food is delicious, the Rib Eye Steak and the grilled beef appetizer were amazing. Also the best cocktail for me is the Sake strawberry caipirinha... I could have 10 of those! Yes! I'm coming back!!! Pros: Best, food, drinks, atmosfere and prices in the meatpacking more

Just the right place 1/23/2009

Writing a review isn?t usually my thing, but I have to admit after tonight?s experience it is a must that I announce my satisfaction in regards of my birthday event and recognize their effort in satisfying client?s needs. We had a reservation for 20 then 6 of our friends decided that they couldn?t make it. So I had to tell the host that there are less of us than expected. I was surprised with the respond we got from the staff despise its location in the meatpacking district where everything is all about attitude. We sat at the bar since we had to wait for our friends to arrive and had a round of mojitos. The Mojitos are to die for. Honestly.. those were the best tasting mojitos I had so far No kidding!! The minute we were seated the service were very prompt, the water glass were always filled, trendy yet less stressed atmosphere which were a big plus. I had their simple salad with crispy rice and miso dressing which i am already thinking about again right now. For main i went with the double red fish which was a fillet whole red snapper in a bed of red sauce. AMAZING! After finishing the last course of our meals the adorable manager Don offered to accommodate us in the pool lounge. Music were great, ambiance were just perfect, house music with a little mainstream vocal added just perfected our night. We had a blast, I?m glad that I spent my 30th birthday at Highline. Try it for yourself!! more

Great atmosphere and the price is right! 7/13/2008

I made a reservation here for a friend's 22nd birthday party. I wanted somewhere that was well decorated and trendy, but was also affordable - Highline was perfect. The staff was accommodating and friendly. I was worried that the food would be just mediocre after reading some of reviews, but I found it to be great! It wasn't anything particularly special (tasted like most Thai food that I've had) but it was certainly tasty, and combined with the restaurant's atmosphere, it was well worth going. The drinks were very tasty and strong! I'm sure I'll be going back..\r There is also a cool lounge downstairs that is worth checking out for an after-dinner drink. Pros: Decor, Price more

okay food, but not great service 6/10/2008

Very trendy, well decorated restaurant. I ordered king oyster mushroom wrapped with something and the noodle inside was so dry hard, the wrapping was tough to chew. The food presentation was good but taste, I'm not quite sure. I love Thai food(lived Thailand for one year) but this place is not recommendable if you are for Thai food. Even worse, waitress chased back to our table for more tips (which wasn't that bad tip) saying that considering the area, MPD, soho, it wasn't enough. Pros: trendy modern decoration Cons: bad service more

About the spills in Highline?. 3/24/2008

About the spills in Highline?. I read few of reviews bellow. Want to share my story. We went to Highline one evening with few friends (4 of us). Had wonderful time. Food was very flavorful. Drinks are amazing. At the end of the evening waiter accidently spilled a bottle of beer on my boyfriend. He was vas apologizing for long time. Than manager showed up right away and told us that all appetizers and my boyfriend?s dinner and his beers (all 5 of them) are on the house. Also offered free desert. (We were stuffed) Manager was very polite? \r I?ve been going to highline for years now. Would recommend this place\r more

BEEN HERE OVER 10 TIMES THIS YEAR AND STILL LOVE IT 2/24/2008

This place is amazing! Everytime we have a group dinner or if I have a first date this is the place to be. If you're group dinner is over 15 people you have to commit to a 50 dollar bill each, most places that's easy to do, this place you have to work at it. The food is so good and cheap for such a trendy place it's unbelievable. If you try to reserve a group of 15 or more they try to sell you this prix fix menu, don't buy into it...just tell them that you can gaurantee them a 50 dollar per person check. My favorite appetizers are the duck spring rolls. For entree's the pad thai is amazing, the panang curry, and the three mixed nuts entree is great. The portions are huge so if you're in a group one app and one entree is more than enough, esp if you're going out drinking afterwards. That's another great thing is the pool lounge downstairs, so after eating you could just go downstairs and listen to some music and have a few drinks and not have to go anywhere!\r \r If it's a first date and you want to go somewhere nice but not spend too much because you don't know if she's worth it, go here....a bottle of wine, an app, an entree can easily be done in 60 bucks, if you look at the ambience of this place you would think you're bill would be 200 easy. Pros: ambience, food, prices, location, friendly service, pool lounge Cons: some servers don't speak english, but the waiters all do, no reservations for less than 6 more

Simply the Best Restaurant in Town! 11/20/2007

Hands Down this place is ALWAYS a winner. The staff is exceptional, prompt, and very customer oriented. Teh food is always on point especially the grand noodle...wow! The ginger mojito is beyond exceptional. I have never had a problem at this place. Oh and did I mention the prices! the only thing I hate about writing this review is that it will entice others to go...and I don't want to the place to get too well known. :) Pros: Food, Location, Service, Ambiance, PRICES Cons: I don't own the place more

One of the Best 5/30/2007

Love to decor, love the mojito's, love the food. Customer services was great! It's a cute 3 story building with lots to offer. Make sure you go downstairs and take a look. Enjoy. Pros: food, drinks, location more

Sensational 4/16/2007

Super cool digs in the Meat Packing District. We had a friend's birthday there, and the staff was very helpful and accomodating. And not so loud that we couldn't ear ourselves talk in the dining room. Not even a Nor'easter stopped us from going to Highline! With a reasonably priced menu, you wouldn't think to find more than standard fare. Not the case at Highline. Their decor is so cool, sleek, and modern. Everything from appetizers to desserts are creative and mouthwatering, some of which I've never seen on any other menu at similar pricing. So good-- we were a party of 11, everyone had something different, and all the dishes were fantastic....not a morsel left behind at dinner. The speciality Mojito was killer. Crisy friend calamari with the ginger avecado dipping sauce is a must have. I'll never dip them into marinara sauce again. The Tamarind mixed nut plate was heavenly. I had the coconut cheesecake....Yummy! I love this place! Pros: Easy to find parking in the area on weeknights and weekend afternoons Cons: Not many parking garages in the area for weekend nights more

Not so great 1/17/2007

Yes the drinks in this place are good, we went on a Tuesday night, so it wasn't packed but we still waited a really long time for our food, even the appetizers. Speaking of food, I don't know what these people are thinking but the closest this place gets to serving Thai food is having spring rolls and peanut sauce. Plus after that food, my friends and I really did not feel well. Never going back there again. Pros: cool bathrooms, the downstairs bar, ambience Cons: FOOD more

great service, make reservations on weekends, skip dessert 12/28/2006

highline's been one of my favorite places after a girlfriend took me here for my birthday. i decided this to be the perfect spot for a pre-x-mas dinner. all i can say is everyone loved it. the food was amazing except for the dessert. they were definitely better the last time i was there. they used to be made in-house, but now they're obviously not. besides that, the service was impeccable. better than some of the other restaurants in the area. i def recommend to anyone looking to have a great time in the meatpacking district without all the attitude. Pros: service, drinks Cons: dessert, wait on weekends more

Do Not TRUST Highline for special nights 12/18/2006

When my dearest friend come to town, I took her to my favorite Thai place, Highline. What a big mistake! It ended as an unforgettable night with bad memories. Thanks to Highline! \r \r At this point I am not talking about a service expectation which is above and beyond. I am at least expecting a manager who is responsible for the quality of the service and employees behaviours. \r \r Not only the waiters but also the management were highly rude and not willing to help after they pour half of the plate to my friends coat. The funniest part of the night is that after he made all of us upset and left my friend without a coat in the middle of the winter, he offered to order us one drink in the bar at the lower floor. Thank you Highline. after you ruined our night, I cannot imagine what we would do without the one drink. We left the place urgently and I personally dont advice you to go to Highline if it is a special night for you.. \r more

RUDE waiters and manager 12/18/2006

Before writing this I glimpsed through the other reviews and saw that there is another posting from a group who experienced a similar event. So they are consistently RUDE! \r A waiter spilled a ton of sauce from a dinner plate on my coat and the coat of the guy at the next table. A whole lot of sauce on both our coats.. He continued on and afterwards just brought some napkins and said sorry! In December, our coats covered in Thai food, we got a sorry! It took about 15 minutes for a manager to show up to talk to us. When he did, I wished he had never come. We had to argue about where Chicago is. I am from Chicago, and I was flying back next day. This guy refused to give me the dry cleaning money up front and kept saying bring me the bill. I say I am flying to chicago tomorrow, he says, I don't care.. It was unbelievable. At one point he was saying, I don't know where Chicago is, I live in NYC. Really! We are still speculating whether he was just an idiot who did not know where Chicago is or whether he was just horribly rude! This was by far the worst experience I had at a restaurant or any other place where you pay for service! I still cannot believe how rude they were. Pros: Horrible service Cons: Food is good but not good enough to be treated like that! more

Amazing Birthday Dinner 12/11/2006

I tend to be skeptical about any venue that resides in the Meatpacking District. Usually Meatpacking equates to rude waiters, overpriced drinks and food, snobby clientele, and ridiculous wait times. Highline Thai is an exception to every rule: down-to-earth, friendly waitstaff and tasty, affordable food and drink offerings make this a gem in an otherwise over-hyped part of the city. One could argue that the quality of the food isn't distinctive from much other Thai in the city, but what gives Highline its advantage is the killer atmosphere and the creative cocktail list! \r \r Highline does most of its restaurant biz on the main floor- ""Land""- which has a trendy vibe to it- the low-lit area has a reddish glow that pervades the dining area; low bass notes tease your ears at just the right volume as you sip way too easily on sweet, pink cocktails from martini glasses garnished with strawberries and converse with your fellow diners as you watch pedestrians wander by through the floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the dining area.\r \r Occasionally, the Zen-like feel (which is enhanced by trickling fountains that span the entire area of the main dining room) is interrupted by the enthusiastic singing of the waitstaff coming out with some sumptuous dessert showcased by the seductive glow of a birthday candle...the atmosphere is festive and friendly, as all the diners pipe in and cheer along. \r \r The night I went, there were literally birthdays at every table--including ours--but the waitstaff never faltered in their enthusiasm and their service. \r \r If you'd rather drink your dinner, never fear: the ""Sea"" (downstairs) and the ""Air"" (upstairs) are perfect for private parties! The Sea features bouncy rubber chairs and a huge fountain that spells fun times for sloppy drunks....and the upstairs ""Air"" Lounge has beds and sultry low-lit private booths under satiny canopies..along with a spectacular view of the Hudson. \r \r This venue is a sure-fire win- don't miss out! Pros: atmosphere, service, cocktails, prices, music, lighting, crowd Cons: location more
