The Hermitage has always been my favorite choice whenever I wanted excellent ambiance combined with superb food, but to rely solely on tradition, as I recently discovered, is foolhardy. My last three trips to this now defunct restaurant, were just that: terrible. Aside from my embarassment to my friends and family who accompanied me, I could not believe how far the quality of their meats had deterioriated. The rib eyes, especially the 8 oz, was reduced to a minute steak one could purchase at any 3rd rate restaurant: thin, leather like, not marbled and cooked to death because of the lack of thickness. To add insult to injury, when contacted, the owner/manager was neither helpful nor compassionate. After all these years of patronage, I vow never to return to this business.
