Would give zero stars if I could! 8/19/2010

I know this is a long review, but you must read so you don’t get “taken to the cleaners”. Henries is extremely expensive!!!!! Had two silk sweaters, a linen summer dress and a cotton summer dress dry cleaned and bill came to $70! I was shocked! I had had all these garments dry cleaned at other various cleaners and never ever ever had it come to this much. I asked Henries to show me the break down. The sweaters cost $10 each and the cotton dress came to $25! Outrageous. I dropped the garments off in the morning at 8:20 and Henries promised to have them ready by 5:00 the same day. I specifically dropped my garments off at Henries because it was the only place that could do it the same day as I needed my dresses for a wedding the next day. When I went back to pick the garments up at 5:30, they weren't ready. I had to come back at 7:00 pm that night when I didn't have time. Then at that time is when they told me the bill was going to be $70. I told the employee that I must have misheard him. He said all I could do was pay the bill or talk to the manager the next morning. I was supposed to be at a wedding the next morning at 9 am. So, I left the garments at the dry cleaner and went back at 7:00 am the next day to talk to the manager. I was clearly willing to pay a fair price for all the clothing, but not $70. After talking and arguing with the manager for several minutes she just said there was nothing they could do and that I had to pay. She could have cared less about the customer. I needed the dresses so I paid and was VERY unhappy! I felt like I was being robbed. Then the next day I looked up the company website and right on the front page it states, ""Each article will be ready - on time, when promised. If not - that article will be free!"" Huh, it would have been nice if the first employee and manager would have said that. I did end up getting the $70 bill reimbursed, but only because they were late. Even the assistant at the corporate office was rude. When I called to talk about the $70 bill she told me, ""That's here nor there"". Um, what nice customer service. PRICES ARE REDICULOUS! AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE! more

When they lose your clothes at Henries... 6/7/2006

Henries lost three sets of my shirts and pants last month. They really had no explanation for it except ""Oops, mistakes happen."" Ok, I'm not quite sure how the dry cleaner loses a customer's clothes (incompetence? theft?) So I'm not thrilled about this, but Henrie's assures me I will be reimbursed for my clothes.\r \r I fill out a lost clothes form. They ask for the brand, size, style, purchase date and price of each garment. I took my best shot at honestly filling in the form and arrived at a total value of around $450.00. So I submit my claim expecting to be fully reimbursed for my loss (a loss that was 100% Henrie's fault).\r \r So 10 days later Henrie's calls and says I can drive over and pick up the check. The check amount $225. ""Huh? Is this a mistake?"" I ask.\r \r ""No we depreciate the value of the clothes.""\r \r So basically, Henrie's uses a depreciation schedule (one they will not share) to knock a bunch of dollars off what they think they owe you. I spoke with Kathy at HQ and she said clothes depreciate (like a car) and that it would be unfair to Henrie's if I got the full retail price, because then I'm getting free additional value.\r \r I protest that there's not really a secondary market for clothes and to get back to the position I started from I was going to have to spend over $200 of my money - hardly equitable when the mistake was 100% Henrie's. Not to mention the time and effort of having to find new clothes (I'm a guy I don't like to go shopping).\r \r So Kathy assumes a smug atttude and says ""Well if you'd like, I can go buy you new clothes at the Discount Outlets. I can get you new clothes for less than $225.""\r \r Gee thanks, but no thanks. I don't need Henrie's Dry Cleaning lady to be my personal shopper. And while I'm sure she could go to Walmart and buy 10 sets of clothes for $225, it doesn't really get me back to where I started from before they screwed me.\r \r Kathy then says ""Well it may not be fair but this is standard industry practice."" That's wonderful. Everybody else is sleazy, so we should be too. Nice logic.\r \r So, rather than stay in a mudfight with Henrie's I cashed the check and vowed to never go there again. \r \r Avoid these guys, when they don't lose your clothes, they;re not that good at cleaning them anyway. Cons: Bad service when they lose your clothes. Not that more
