Henries lost three sets of my shirts and pants last month. They really had no explanation for it except ""Oops, mistakes happen."" Ok, I'm not quite sure how the dry cleaner loses a customer's clothes (incompetence? theft?) So I'm not thrilled about this, but Henrie's assures me I will be reimbursed for my clothes.\r
\r
I fill out a lost clothes form. They ask for the brand, size, style, purchase date and price of each garment. I took my best shot at honestly filling in the form and arrived at a total value of around $450.00. So I submit my claim expecting to be fully reimbursed for my loss (a loss that was 100% Henrie's fault).\r
\r
So 10 days later Henrie's calls and says I can drive over and pick up the check. The check amount $225. ""Huh? Is this a mistake?"" I ask.\r
\r
""No we depreciate the value of the clothes.""\r
\r
So basically, Henrie's uses a depreciation schedule (one they will not share) to knock a bunch of dollars off what they think they owe you. I spoke with Kathy at HQ and she said clothes depreciate (like a car) and that it would be unfair to Henrie's if I got the full retail price, because then I'm getting free additional value.\r
\r
I protest that there's not really a secondary market for clothes and to get back to the position I started from I was going to have to spend over $200 of my money - hardly equitable when the mistake was 100% Henrie's. Not to mention the time and effort of having to find new clothes (I'm a guy I don't like to go shopping).\r
\r
So Kathy assumes a smug atttude and says ""Well if you'd like, I can go buy you new clothes at the Discount Outlets. I can get you new clothes for less than $225.""\r
\r
Gee thanks, but no thanks. I don't need Henrie's Dry Cleaning lady to be my personal shopper. And while I'm sure she could go to Walmart and buy 10 sets of clothes for $225, it doesn't really get me back to where I started from before they screwed me.\r
\r
Kathy then says ""Well it may not be fair but this is standard industry practice."" That's wonderful. Everybody else is sleazy, so we should be too. Nice logic.\r
\r
So, rather than stay in a mudfight with Henrie's I cashed the check and vowed to never go there again. \r
\r
Avoid these guys, when they don't lose your clothes, they;re not that good at cleaning them anyway.
Cons: Bad service when they lose your clothes. Not that
