great beach atmosphere 8/15/2008

After going to beaches from ME to FL, this beach is one of the nicest in NE. The water was crystal clear and clean, not too cold (67). The sand was a bit course but nice and there was only a bit of seaweed. The life guards were diligent and appeared to be watching all the swimmers. There was no list of ""nos"" like in RI state beaches. People could play ball, skim board and boogie board. more

Cape Cod's Finest! 6/24/2002

This one is tops on my list! The sand is incredibly clean and smooth, and allows for easy walking near the water. The incline from the parking lot to the beach is minimal (a welcome relief after visiting Race Point in Provincetown!) The surf is strong but there are shallow areas and sandbars that cater to younger or weaker swimmers/waders. The tide comes in towards you as usual, but there is also a current that comes in to the right, so the two actually end up colliding with each other. The water is clean, beach is expansive, and is overall a very picturesque place to visit. Take your camera & lots of film! (People also enjoy volleyball and fishing at this location.) -- Kas Pros: Very scenic, Easily accessible, Very clean Cons: Smaller parking lot, Summertime parkng fee, Didn't see many shell more

Great Beach 6/22/2002

I agree with Roger. I used to be one of ""those"" lifeguards myself. I'm 40 years old now, but loved guarding this beach. Patrons are great and we enjoyed guarding them as well. You can see the whales swim off in the distance at times as well. Great stretch of sand and typically not too crowded! Roger, when did you start going to this beach? more

Best Lifeguards on the Cape 5/19/2002

With 90+ years of combined lifeguarding experience, this crew has earned a reputation for being the best on the Seashore. I've been taking my family there for years and have become friends with the guards over the years. While some of the faces are new, there are 3 guards who've been there since I was in my 20's. ....Only one issue, and that's the thick seaweed that can accumulate on the shore at the end of July/early August....be sure to ask the fee collector what conditions are like before paying. Pros: lifeguard, small surf, sand bars Cons: seaweed, strong rips more

Best Lifeguards on Cape Cod 5/15/2002

With 90+ years of combined ocean guard experience between them, this seasoned crew has delivered summer after hot summer. They take care of business. The beach is gorgeous, but be sure to ask the fee attendent how much 'mung' is in the water.....seaweed has a tendency to collect here more than other cape cod beaches....and somedays it's downright nasty. If that's the case, head to Marconi beach in Wellfleet. Pros: Great Crew, Beautiful Beach, Nice sandbars Cons: Sometimes 'seaweedy' more
