Rare to find such a good doc in Austin 2/3/2009

Austin is hardly the medical mecca of the US, but Dr. Harden is a top notch doctor with a medical degree from Johns Hopkins and decades of experience to back it up. Throw in the fact that he has a great bedside manner and friendly staff and you can't do much better as doctors go. When I moved to Austin, I thought I might have to quickly flee when the crazy Central Texas allergies nearly shut off my breathing entirely. Dr. Harden made it possible for me to stay and fall in love with this town. Two visits a year isn't the end of the world, especially when you're taking daily maintenance meds in order to breathe properly! Pros: Credentials, experience, bedside manner Cons: Office is easy to miss? more

Not worth the trouble 11/26/2007

I agree that it was expensive to see this dr. My insurance denied my claims for pre-existing and he billed me the amount billed to insurance. I called his biller and explained that an insurance co. would not have even paid him the full amount billed after the contractual adjustments. She later called back and stated he does not offer private pay discounts and discounted the bill by $30.63. All I have to say is wow....now I only owe him $562.37 three visits later. I would rather deal with my allergies then worry about debt. more

Flonase Breath 8/23/2007

Dr. Harden is an Excellent Doctor. I agree, it's a little expensive having to visit him often when recieving shots. I don't always have the cash, especially combined with prescriptions. That said, it's his job to be a bit overly causious. Having to visit him once every six months is not at all overkill. Six months is plenty of time for Flonase to fry a hole in your Sinuses. What would you post up here if you visited him one year later and needed cosmetic surgery to fix your nose? Pros: April is Cute... Cons: Specialst Copays... more

miscommunication could cost doctor to lost patient 11/1/2006

I liked this Allergist. He gave me samples and we figured out that Flonase worked well for me. Only problem is that that made him unneccessary. I don't mind going there once a year and we had talked about how that was necessary for him to make sure it wasn't wearing a hole in my nose. The last time I was there, I got a prescription for mail order so he wrote the prescription for just 3 months, which lasts me about 6 months. When I tried to get it refilled, he refused without another doctors visit. He had told me he would give a refill when I was there in February, but even after calling and asking he refused. After I wrote this, they called me back and told me they would give me 1 more refill before I have to go in again. I am reconsidering whether or not I will go to a new allergest. Pros: funny, good about letting me pick what worked the best Cons: wants me to come in for a visit more than one time per year more
