I’m not a big fan of this place. The food is just decent. There are better places to get chili in the area. They have 5 different kinds of chili but none are better than the chili you can get at Ben’s Chili bowl. I’ve tried other items besides the chili and I have left unimpressed. The chicken wings I had here were terrible. more

Hard Times Cafe Alexandria 4/5/2006

This chain makes some great chili. They have four to different varieties to choice from. I’m not sure the exact number because I always order their Cincinnati chili. It isn’t as good the real stuff you get in Cincinnati but it is pretty darn close. The sitting in here is limited, so it may tough to seat groups of more than 6 people here. more

Hard Times Cafe Alexandria 3/20/2006

I’m a big fan of the chili served here. All the chili they serve is wonderful. They have 4 kinds but my favorite is the Cincinnati chili. The only negative is this restaurant cannot seat large parties together. The seating is very limited in this smaller establishment. Parking is sometimes an issue near but it is also in walking distance from the King Street Metro. more

They have 4 kinds of chili at Hard Times and each is as good as the other. They also serve many dishes with chili in them, from chili dogs to salads to chimichangas. The Old Town Location is in the perfect spot for lunch or heading off into Old Town for the day. They also have a rare treat, they serve root beer on tap! You can purchase the mix of spice to add to ground beef and beans to make your own chili at home too. more
