Not sure why all the good reviews? 1/15/2009

I called Hair M to schedule an appointment (while ago) but the person on the phone not only was not very courteous but also put me on hold for a very long time. She was acting like someone had forced her to be there and answer the phone. When finally someone picked up the phone, there was a load conversation in the background and she was keep making me to repeat myself. I finally hung up and called another hair salon that provided awesome service. more

Absolutely Fantastic! 10/7/2008

HairM is indeed fantastic. I was in the Portland area from out of town to participate in the Portland Marathon and I wanted to get a good massage after the race in ease any soreness that I would have. I made an appointment with Lindsay at the Beaverton location for an hour massage. It was definitely one of the better ideas that I have had in a long time! The facilities at the Beaverton location are extremely clean and I felt very comfortable in Lindsay's skillful hands. If there are any guys who are out there considering a massage, I would highly recommend Lindsay at HairM. I know that if I lived in the Portland area, I would definitely be a repeat customer! Pros: Definitely recommend the massage! Cons: Absolutely none. more

Highly Recommended 8/13/2008

I have been getting haircuts from Adrienne for the past year and a half & could not recommend her more. You will be pampered from the moment you walk in with a drink & sports (or whatever) on the TV at your cutting station. GREAT haircuts (best I've ever had), extremely relaxing & Kings Cut is a must - just a couple bucks more for a fantastic scalp & face massage. I also like that you can set an appointment - no more wasting an hour waiting in line like many other places in town. Pros: Appointments, pampering, quality of stylists Cons: Price (but it is worth it) more

Deeply impressed 7/23/2008

All of their services are offered at reasonable rates by highly talented professionals. There is a reason the ladies go to spas...it is an experience all guys should have! Oh yeah...and the beer is good. :-) Pros: quality, proffessional Cons: spendy (BUT WORTH IT!) more

Best hair cut in town, feel pampered the minute you walk in.. 6/7/2008

Got a gift certificate this year to go see the gals at Hair M. One word "Exceptional". You get the full attention of the staff the minute you walk in till you leave. Though Hair M is on the other side of town for me, it's well worth the drive and the extra cost for the haircut. I'm hooked. Can't wait to come back. Pros: Plenty of parking, as compared to the downtown location Cons: none more

feel much better leaving than coming in 5/21/2008

My wife bought me a wide range of services for a present. She told the staff she wanted the husband detailing package. I got a massage, pedicure, and haircut with scalp massage. I have been going there ever since for a haircut with scalp massage. I was getting a $12 haircut, but this is much more than a haircut. I always feel much more relaxed when I leave than when I came in. The stylists are pleasant to talk to (until the scalp massage when I shut up because I don't feel like talking). The cool scalp massage followed by the hot towel is a treatment all men should have. Women shouldn't have kept this experience to themselves for so long. I read the 1 star reviews for the other store and don't understand them. I got a haircut there once. (I live nearer the Beaverton store.) The parking is like parking for anything else in a city. I had a pleasant conversation with the stylist and found out that she knew who my son was from high school! I would recommend either site. Pros: staff, treatment, environment Cons: I wish I could afford a scalp massage every day. more

Now I don't feel left out when wife gets $200 haircut 5/19/2008

I never really paid much attention to haircuts other than to treat them as chores that one needs to go through periodically. Not until Hair M, that is. It is now a very pleasant, laid-back, and relaxing experience to get a haircut. I've tried numerous stylists as the store and all of them have been excellent at their craft. Ever since becoming a regular customer at Hair M, I've enjoyed a very consistent, modern, and professional hair style. The extra money, while it is steep when compared to my previous Great Clips standards, has been well worth it and even the harshest critic in the world (my wife) gives two thumbs-up to the results. more

Great overall experience! 5/19/2008

This is definitely much more than just a haircut. Getting to relax with a beer and a scalp massage is great. I should have done this years ago! Pros: Great atmosphere, parking is good, service is great. Cons: None more

The best haircuts around... 8/10/2007

I too was a bit skeptical about the whole Hair M experience, it seemed a bit of a con. Give a guy a beer and a pretty stylist, take his money... All it took to change my mind was one trip to the Beaverton location, and I haven't gone anywhere since. The space itself is really well decorated and relaxing, and it is nice to have a beer while I get my hair cut. The reason I come back, however, is that I have consistently gotten great haircuts at Hair M. No more cheap chop jobs, every time I go I feel like a million bucks afterwards. I also didn't think I'd like the scalp massage and hot towel treatment, but it is really very relaxing. My regular stylist is very friendly and extremely competent, and I look forward to my next appointment! Pros: Amazing stylists, great atmosphere, a unique experience Cons: None! more

Converted skeptic 6/4/2007

I'll admit that I'm kind of a traditionalist when it comes to grooming and fashion. I grew up going to the neighborhood barbershop where men sat around talking about the weather, their crops, politics and the like. It was really a matter of convenience that forced we away from this type of barber shop--they never seem to be open when I have time for a hair cut. It was with great reluctance that I began visiting chain salons for a hair cut. They never did a bad job on my hair--I go for a pretty simple style, which helps--but it was always more of a chore than a positive experience to get my hair cut. Not so with Hair M. I now find myself looking forward to my next hair cut. The atmosphere combined with the quality of service make it a great experience. For our anniversary this year, my wife of 12 years gave me the Stress Eliminator package. Wow! I honestly don't remember ever being as relaxed as I was when they finished with me. I added the striaght razor shave a few days later and got the closest shave of my life. My 5-year-old daughter even noticed how close it was just be LOOKING at me: "Daddy, you got rid of the pokey things on your face?" Hair M provides not only a great haircut, it's a great experience! Pros: Great atmosphere, highly skilled staff, excellent services Cons: $$$ - I have a hard time justifying their haircuts as a default. more

Great Getaway with Great Service and Fabulous Staff 5/22/2007

I have been going to HairM since shortly after it opened in downtown Portland. I couldn't wait for the Beaverton location to open to cut down on commute time. As a added bonus two of my three favorites stylists also moved to Beaverton. Mackenzie and Chelsea both do an awesome job on my hair, with Mackenzie being my "Regular" stylist. As soon as the Beaverton location opened I signed up for the "King's Club" and enjoy the additional little benefits provided as well as reduced costs. I'm there every 3 weeks and would like to make every two!!!! All in all an awesome establishment...and there's not an unfriendly person in the place. Try it.......just once.....and you'll become a regular!!! See you next week Mackenzie!!!!! Pros: Personable staff and unhurried environment Cons: What cons???? more

An experience, not just a hair cut 5/18/2007

I used to get the $10 haircuts and thought they were good enough. OK, maybe they were 'off' sometimes, but no big deal, right? My hair will grow out in a month or so. After going to the HairM in Beaverton, I won't do THAT ever again! Yes, it's cool to have a beer and watch TV, and yes the girls are nice. But the quality the cut is consistently above par. I usually see Kylie, but on a couple of occasions I've had to get my cut from one of the other stylists and I haven't been disappointed. They all know what they are doing -- it isn't a hiit or miss experience like the super-chain hair cutting places. And the massages that come with these cuts are never long enough. [This is a repost of my comment for the Portland store ... I didn't realize that these are rated separately). Pros: Great way to get away from work for an hour or so during lunch Cons: Having to go back to work aftterwards. more
