Haggen's is a Western Washington grocery chain that includes Top Foods. It feels more upscale than a Safeway or Albertsons. The prices can reflect that upscale feeling. Some of the ammenities at the Arlington store include: Oriental take out, deli with panini sandwiches made to order, nice dining area with gas fireplace, build your own salad bar, olive bar, in store bakery, butcher shop with fresh seafood, dry cleaning drop off, kodak picture maker station, natural food section, bulk food/candy. They've recently added a "value time" line which is similar to Western Family. I shop at Haggens because it's never as crowded in the parking lot as the Safeway across the street. I also take advantage of their good sales. They sometimes have buy one get two free specials. My kids know when we go to Haggen's that they get a cookie in the bakery and a balloon at the checkout. One thing I like about Haggen's is they have bulk spices in the natural food section. So much of what we pay for spices is for the package. I can buy enough bay leaves to refill my container for $0.11. You can't beat that!
