Groovy Lube

Two weeks after I had my oil changed at Groovy Lube, it was brought to my attention by my Volvo repair shop that Groovy Lube charge me for an oil change, but didn't replace the filter. I'll never go there again... Not Groovy! more

I've been there many times, and until this most recent time have been very satisfied. Went there the other day (Feb 20th, 2008), and as soon as I pulled in was given a strong-armed sales pitch. "Do you want a system flush? You should get one. Do you want synthetic oil? It's better." I said no to both, and then while waiting for my $28 oil change, the tech came over and told me that my radiator was in need of flushing ($80) and my air filter was in need of changing ($40). I told him that I had my air filter replaced 3K ago, and that I would simply buy one from an auto parts store. He said that it would cost me just as much (turns out you can purchase a replacement for $11.95). I asked them about the radiator flush and they said that my fluid was dirty. The car only had 8K on it, and I refused the flush. The next day I took it to the Toyota dealer who looked at the fluid and determined that the radiator and the fluid were in fine shape and that no flushing or replacement were needed. Groovy wanted to extract an add'l $120 from me. The only thing I can presume is that they are under new management. more

I have taken my car to groovy lube several times and have had no problems at all. They are fast and their prices are very reasonable. Their newest location on lamar makes them even more convienient, especially since they are next to several restaurants so you can just drop your car off, have lunch and when you get back it's done. I would recommend them to all. more

The guys here are quick and good. I have never had a problem and have heard mainly good things about them from other people. It is nice not to go to a chain for a quick lube! Everyone is friendly and the prices are some of the best in Austin. I have never had a problem and recommend them. more

I have taken my dodge to Groovy lube many a time for my regular oil changes. A big reason I like Groovy lube stems from the fact they are an Austin specific business, and I support many local businesses. They have always done fast and affordable work on my truck, and I wouldn’t hesitate to bring my dodge to their other company: Groovy Automotive for any other work to my car. Look in their parking lot and you can tell how busy they are. With so many oil changing places out there you could find cheaper, but if you feel inclined to support Austin businesses, take your car or truck to Groovy lube for a groovy time! Come early if you are pressed for time though. more

I came here to get an inspection for my car. They had outstanding service. Everybody was super polite and the service was very fast. I was very pleased with the experience and will definately return next year for my inspection. They also do the basics like brake checks, and oil changes and the like. If you are near the university campus, i would highly recommend going here for your basic car needs. more

The Groovy Lube is a relatively new business in Austin, and it fits in with the local scene perfectly. It's psychadelic colored and has peace signs and flower decorations. It's also right next door to a great coffee shop, so you can go there and hang out while you wait to get your oil changed. They have specials a lot and pretty good prices anyway, so check it out if you get a chance. more

Groovy Lube is a decent place to do oil changes if you live on-campus. I'll usually drop my car here, take the bus to campus for class, and then come back to pickup the car. They're pretty fast, sometimes doing an oil change service under 15minutes. I wish they topped fluids with their regular service of $21.95. The nice thing though, is that they give student discounts. I also like that they are environmentally friendly and recycle just about everything. The downside is price. You could get coupons and do similar oil changes at dealerships for under $15. more
