Green Iguana Bar & Grill

Very disappointed in this place. The staff were rude and bouncers terribly interfering. Also they were very unfriendly towards the military. Two of my friends had recently returned from deployments and met up as they hadn't seen each other in years. One of the regulars though he would try and score some points lying about his military service.... needless to say the situation was not handled very well. Would definitely not recommend it to any military or anyone looking for a good time. This is not mentioning the price of the drinks and their attempt at overcharging us. The bouncers at this club are overzealous $8/hour roided up idiots. After having a quick dinner with my family (and not drinking), I left with my iced tea in my hand. \r \r The bouncer told me that I couldnt leave with my drink (in a plastic to-go cup). I informed him that it was iced tea and I wouldn't be throwing it away.\r \r The bouncer then actually crushed it in my hand and got tea all over my jeans....\r \r This is the behavior of a 5 year old, not somone that is paid to protect patrons. These idiots are so roided up that they can't think clearly. I will not be visiting this establishment again under any circumstance and I advise you to do the same. I had read some reviews, and while on vacation, coerced two of my friends to go with me to the Green Iguana for dinner one evening. We were seated at a small table with high chairs, which was OK after we got used to it. However, we were cramped near a little wall right next to a Ms. PacMan arcade and a pool table. Sort of uncomfortable and annoying. Also, we were close to the bar which had a LOT of rowdy singles getting their drink on. Anyway, the people watching was good, and the food was excellent and fairly priced. I had mahi with coconut rice and veggies....FANTASTIC! The mahi was sweet - I had never had it before, so I was very pleased. One of my friends had a portobello burger, which he enjoyed and looked rather tasty, and my other friend had a regular burger which she said was also good. We had crab rangoons as appetizers. The rangoons themselves were good, but the dipping sauce was very different from typical sauce that would be used - it had a spicy aftertaste that I didn't so much care for. We had to ask for refills. The live band was playing covers of everything from DMB to Matchbox 20, which I liked....but the ""unplugged"" versions got a little old after a while (I wish the BAND actually started playing with the lead singer...it was mostly him and his guitar). Overall, the Green Iguana had great food and good music, but if you aren't looking to pick up other singles at the bar, probably go during the day for lunch! I have been going to the green iguana for almost seven years, and in that time I have had the time""s"" of my life. I have met so many awsome people that I now call friends. I would highly recommend the place to anyone. Pros: food, drinks, enviroment Cons: lines, dress code more

Go to the ORIGINAL Green Iguana on South Westshore to eat, drink, and shoot pool. Go to the Green Iguana in Ybor City to party. Both have good food but the S. Westshore is a great beach bar without the beach. more

It is true, they have the best burger. Also it is a nice atomsphere to be in and watch people go by at Ybor City. The wings aren't to shabby either. Yum... Pros: good entertainment, fun, friendly Cons: expensive, no parking, bathrooms dirty more

This place is way too small even with the expansion,you are either out of the crowd/bar access/able to see band or you are pretty much in a mosh pit Pros: good bands, good location Cons: crowded more

Good music, interesting beach bar, varied crowd. Definitely a Florida experience. more
