Editorial review from Citysearch 6/29/2012

Green forest don't get me wrong is a nice palce, but way too expensive. Maybe it's just because I come from Massachusetts where they have Brazilian and it's roughly $10.00 a plate for buffet. more

Don't waste your money! 4/22/2012

Last month my husband and I went to a restaurant like this one in Niagara Falls called Copacabana. It was so delicious that we looked to see if there was anything like it in Pittsburgh. We found Green Forest online and were excited about trying it out, especially after reading the reviews. What a HUGE OVER-PRICED DISAPPOINTMENT! We paid $40 per person in Niagara as well, but the meat there was spiced and cooked to perfection. The pineapple was served the same way as the meat, brought around to our table and freshly carved from the skewer. It was a fresh pineapple with maybe brown sugar and cinnamon spices...? What we were served last night was barely spiced fatty pieces of meat. The pineapple was like tasteless cardboard. It's a shame how much food we discarded especially for what we paid. I will say that the servers and bartender were friendly, but that was about the only good part of our experience. We never write reviews, but we could not and cannot believe how this place got as many good reviews as it has. Our guess is that there's no other place like this near Pittsburgh to compare it to. Pittsburghers, if you have a passport and 4 hours, the drive to Canada is well worth it instead of wasting your time and your money on this place. more

AMAZING ! ! ! 2/19/2012

Just got back from celebrating my friends birthday with my wife and 5 or so other couples. Excellent, friendly and polite service as well as an up-beat, cozy atmosphere. I could write about the deliciousness of the food for hours but I will summarize by saying that it is a meat lovers paradise. The buffet consisting of seafood, salad, soups, bread and cheese was of a great variety and prepared in very unique ways. Everything was to a very high quality and freshness! I had a wonderful evening. Thank you! more

RELAXED & FUN 10/21/2011

This is our favorite ""treat"" restaurant. We go here about 6-8 times a year. The grilled meat is fantastic - great selection and very flavorful.\r \r My husband really likes the 'hot bar' for potato, rice, beans and fish. I love the cold bar - especially the marinated portabella mushrooms, asparagus and olives. Friends love the sushi and cold seafood selections. There's a cheese board and bread... don't forget soup...\r \r Are you full yet? Well the desserts are lovely, although we've never had ""room""!\r \r The staff is quite attentive to drinks and plates and interacts with you as much as you like regarding the food selections and preparations.\r \r MMMMM, love the Green Forest! more

Fantastico! 12/30/2010

I've been here many times and every time was great! I'm from Argentina so this is the closest it will get to my homeland food. It's an all you can eat buffet plus all you can eat meat. You can get either one. The regular buffet (without the ""asado"" meat) has a lot to choose from. This is *not* your typical all-you-can-eat buffet!! more

Horrible!! 11/18/2008

I have been to Green Forest several times. July 08 and October 08. The first visit was outstanding. Julie was our waitress and she was wonderful. She was intuitive and friendly. She explained the process to us and got our drinks. I had the Brazilian Cherry Ginger ale and it was to die for. Service & food was wonderful. She came around at all the right times. She was just overall great. The second time we came in it was on a Saturday and it was a horrible experience, not only was service bad, but the owner was rude. Our waitress was Sada or something like that. She was bossy, rude, and pushy. She seemed to act as though we were idiots when she explained the process to us even after we told her we were returning customers. As my wife and I talked while we waited for our drinks, she slammed our drinks on our table and walked away. Never to return for refills. From my understanding new plates is a big thing with them. The owner was walking around the tables, checking customers and when she came to our table she basically took our plates even after we had told her that we were not done. I practically rushed my food into my mouth while she just grabbed it away. I asked one of the bussers (?) if Julie was there and she said that Julie was no long with them, which is a bummer. She was a great waitress, an asset to their company. I will NEVER go back to Green Forest and anyone that asks me about the restaurant I will not recommend it. The owner was inconsiderate and the waitress? are not very professional. Pros: Food Cons: Service/Management more

Yes, food was great! 10/31/2008

My friends and I were in town for business. We went to Green Forest based on the good reviews. The food was great. Some of the meats were fatty but you don?t have to eat them all. We were there at 7:00 pm on a Saturday. It was a busy evening; we didn?t have to ask for meats. The cold buffet was not outstanding, just ok. The service was very good, too. The waitress was attentive and friendly. The price was more than fair; something like $30 per person, except drinks. We recommend going on a Sat night. It was just perfect! more

This restaurant was great. We went to a place like this in Aruba, and it was every bit as good as the one there. more

Exceptional Brazilian Churrascaria! 5/4/2008

I've been to several Brazilian Churrascaria's in my day, notably in NYC and elsewhere. The Green Forest looks a bit odd on the approach because it resembles a corporate center more than a restaurant. Once inside, we were reassured with a spacious and airy restaurant where we were given some room to relax, without overhearing our neighbors' breathing. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The carvers were helpful and generous (when asked to be). The food quality, from the salad/appetizer bar to the meats, was exceptional. High quality ingredients and appealing presentation were the focus in Green Forest. The price was more than fair (around $26 per adult for everything except drinks and dessert - we stuck with non-alcoholic drinks to keep the price reasonable). If you like, you can BYOB and pay a modest corking fee (around $2, I think). Finally, we were allowed to take our time; we were never rushed in the way I have experienced at other similar restaurants. Choose carefully, take your time, and you won't be disappointed. Overall, this place was a genuine winner and I will certainly return when I'm in Pittsburgh again. Well done! Pros: Value, quality, privacy Cons: A bit noisy for a romantic dinner more

Wicked Good 3/29/2008

Great place!!! The food was excellent! The service was as well.... one warning.. the brazilian soda (pronounced ""Gwadana"") is 6 bucks a pop. The meat they bring around is excellent and the salad bar has various types of seafood and salads.. all good. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Good parking as well. If you're a coffee drinker, have the coffee. It is very similar to the style found in Brazil, which is very strong but very good. more

Brazilian Churrascaria you can't go wrong with!!!! 2/15/2008

This place is awesome! You cannot go wrong with this place. There is no reason I will not go back at least once a month! I usually end up spending $20 per person + tips at any steak house in pittsburgh. This place is a little bit more expensive BUT it is ALL YOU CAN EAT!! Do you hear me? ALL YOU CAN EAT (Filet mignon wrapped in bacon, Pork Tenderloin, Beef Tenderloin, Skirt Steak, Flank Steak, Rib Eye, T-bone, Ribs, Leg of Lamb, Sausage, Small chicken wings and more I am sure I am forgetting off the grill) Salad bar has a lot to offer including ALL YOU CAN EAT CRAB LEGS!!! Sushi as well!!!! There was also SWORDFISH as an option as well as Rice, beans and other assortments!!! Pros: All you can eat, Parking lot, BYOB, Friendly service Cons: I cant drive home for a while because I am too full. more

Food was good... but romantic is a STRETCH 10/16/2007

My boyfriend and I were in town and tried this place based on the good reviews. Romantic? Definitely not. The food was good. Some of the meats were fatty but we just cut it off and moved on. We were there at 7:30pm on a Sunday, which I guess is a slow night, because we had to ask for meats... they stopped coming out 15 mins after we sat down. The cold buffet was good but not extensive. Our waitress was great... attentive and friendly. Our fellow diners were disgusting... we were one of 3 tables and the other 2 were loudly talking on cell phones and screaming about how expensive their bills were ($32 a person is NOT a bad deal). I would recommend going on a Fri or Sat night when it is busier and there are more meats coming out. Pros: Good meat, great service. Cons: Don't go on a Sunday more
