Great Garage Door Co

I purchased and had a Liftmaster garage door opener installed a little over two years ago, in 2009-2010. Intially the service we received was very good, albeit expensive. Recently a sprocket on my garge door opener broke, I called GGD, found out that the warranty had expired (1 yr. manf warranty) but it was going to cost me $85 for them to come to show up and ""diagnose"" the problem ( I live less than a mile away from their office). I opted to call the reccomended garage door company that Liftmaster suggested in the area (online). They came out fixed it for a small fee, but the service tech noticed that the manf date on the opener was from 2004!! So technically two years ago I purchased a garage door opener that was already 6 years old! I was never informed of this, I definetly would not have consented to having a old opener installed, not when paying for a brand new opener! This place is untrustworthy and when my wife called they were extremely rude. Also if they carry the Liftmaster line, why are they not the preferred dealer in this area??? I don't think they were very upfront with me and I would have never known had not another garage door company pointed it out to me. I definetly cannot reccomend this company to anyone else. To anyone who purchased a garage door opener from this company, please check and see when said garage door was manufactured. more

After calling around the twin cities area to about five different garage door replacement and ""repair"" companies, Great Garage Door co was the only one willing to come out and fix the door that came off it's tracks. All the other places that i called wanted me to buy a new door replacement. The current door was replaced by a different company 6 months ago, and was installed incorrectly causing it to come off the tracks. I am going to be replacing a garage door on my second house this spring, and Great Garage Door co is always going to have my business. more

I was told my garage door spring should last more than three years. I am having another company fix the broken spring. The problem is most likely an incorrect spring was installed for the size & weight of the door or cheap springs/low cycle rating. I will find out tomorrow. Either way, Google the lifespan of garage door springs and you will find they should last longer than the replacement done by Great Garage Door Co. Avg is 7-10 years. My garage door is opened less than an avg. household. Very disappointed. more

A number of years ago they installed a garage door, and their installer hacksawed through what appeared to be the main metal reinforcing bar on the top part of the garage door. Of course, years later the top of the door buckled at this weak point when the metal arm pulled the door open. Further, the metal bar that attaches to the door ripped out because, we were told, it had been improperly attached. Although years later, their response was unsatisfactory, and we decided to have an entirely new door installed by a different company. Pros: Decent price Cons: Unsatisfactory installation more

From the minute they answered my call for ""help"" to the follow-up call related to services ~ the Great Garage Door Company exceeded my expectations! Excellent scheduling, installation, follow-up ~ what more can you ask for? I've recommended them to neighbors and friends (for future reference) ~ I'm VERY selective and have never done that before. Overall ~ A+ rating. Give them a call!! more
