This place is horrible at delivery. They constantly miss the delivery window, and their delivery staff is unable to navigate the call box to get to our floor which requires us to go down stairs to meet them. Pass on this experience all together. more

Grand Pu Bah - Ah, ah gooood! 6/26/2008

Fantastic, I love the atmosphere and the food and great service. I want to eat here every night. Steve and Sara are so nice (owners). The food is very good. The flavors are subtle and refined and the presentation is certainly fussed over. The fried spring rolls are as good as they get - crisp, light. The fresh spring rolls are good, the chicken satay is great. The full bar is AMAZING. totally great drinks... so go early, have a drink then go sit down for dinner... enjoy! Pros: Everything from start to finish more

Great Drinks, Great Food! 5/5/2008

Went to Grand Pu Bah Saturday night and it was great! A gem, located in the Art District section of the SOMA, you will find yourself delighted with the flavors you'll find in the dishes and drinks; and impressed with the incredibly friendly staff. Pros: great bar service & great table service. amazing food Cons: nothing more

Trichinosis Blue Plate Special 4/8/2008

Main complaint is an undercooked (read: cold interior) pork dish. This is simply the sign of a kitchen not caring. Another complaint is that portion size is similar to that credit card commercial about plating looking like ""elf food"". Pad Thai was an unbalanced glob. Pros: Not crowded Cons: Food, portions, prices more

Great Drinks, Great Food! 3/25/2008

Fantastic! I love the atmosphere and the food and great service here at Grand Pu Bah. I want to eat here every night. Steve and Sara the owners are so nice . I love the Mango salad, the whole crab (messy, but good) and the pad thai. Amazing specialty drinks. if you dont want booze try the lemonade. Pros: Staff, owners are really nice, seletion of drinks, happy hour, ambience Cons: nothing more

BIG disappointment 2/18/2008

Big disappointment. Waaaay overpriced for mediocre food and small portion. It is suppoooosed to be Thai ""beach cuisine"", but not fresh catch off a fisherman's boat, more like standard ""I'm frozen Costco, be-aatch"" cuisine. Some of these expensive tidbits can be good, but it seems like a land mine to catch which one which day. one time a crab salad was ok, the next it was obviously from crab they were getting rid of past its expiration date. And weird things like a pineapple hamburger and stir-fried spaghetti show up in a misguided effort at nonAsian. Factor in slooooow service with frequent misunderstandings, overpriced drinks, annoying noise level when populated at lunch-hour, funereal when empty most nights, it makes for a sub-one star experience. So to recap: mediocre, overpriced, inconsistent food, served at glacial pace, in an empty dining room does not make this sailor happy. Pros: street parking at night, Known bartender, but he just consulted and is never there? Cons: food, service, prices, student-experiment dishes more

Snails pace! 1/4/2008

Staff are friendly but WAY TOO SLOW. Be sure to order your drinks before you sit! Food very much on the salty side(and that's coming from a salt worshiper!) They also skimp on the seafood portions. Cod filet disappeared in literally 4 small bites! more

Crazy for Crab!!! You got to try Grand Pu Bah's Crazy Crab! 9/9/2007

Last night was the 5th time my fiance and I dined at Grand Pu Bah, and it was by far the best. All our experiences have been great, tonight we took a chance, we got crazy with the crab!! This was the best dish we have ever had to date, you do have to work for the meat, but let me tell you, IT IS WORTH IT!!! The crazy crab is boiled in Singha beer, and topped with a thick glaze of garlic and Thai spice. It was unforgettable. We also had a few drinks, mojitos, pimms cup (totally delicious) martinis and Thai beer with the crab. I love the owner, staff, service and vibe at Grand Pu Bah.. Pros: Full Bar, great wine list, large menu, Raw Bar, friendly, plenty of parking Cons: not a thing more

Cool new dishes!!! 9/6/2007

Just went to this place for the first time, it was a great experience!! Me and my friends had the oyster, they were all very fresh, and it came with Sriracha sorbet and kaffir lime vodka granita!!! What a surprise, entrees and desserts are all perfectly done, staffs are friendly, and drinks are good. The only bad thing is that if you don't know the neigborhood, it can be a little difficult to find. Pros: Ambience, drinks, food Cons: Location more

Thai it, you won't like it 8/27/2007

Although the service was slow, the food was bad and prices high........ not recommended. It appears that the other review's grimace-inducing ""Tsunami Bisque"" dish has been washed to open sea. Maybe I'm the only one who gets similarly appetite reducing ""shower"" connotations from a murky dish called Rainbow Curry. (Ii know the rest of you cleancut kids think instead about unicorns.) We tried the oysters and found grit in all and one that had obviously died well before its shucking - yuck. The pad thai was maybe made with ketchup rather than tamarind because it was too sweet, greasy, and unbalanced. Service was slow, amateurish, and lacking. The place is struggling, so questionable where the seafood like whole crab goes, but in the refrigerator for the next day, or the next day, or... Pros: I'm thinking, I'm thinking Cons: management, service, food, cost more

all wrong 8/19/2007

Like many potrero hill folks I was very excited to see a new restaurant / lounge open in my neighborhood. A friend and I had dinner here a week ago and it was terrible. The seared ahi was covered in some disgusting mayo sauce and just tasted wrong. We also had pad thai (way too sweet) and $14?, yellow curry (also way sweet), and some other seafood dish that was not memorable. Our drinks were ok, nothing special. I also found the service to be very annoying (nervous and constantly asking if everything is ok or not). Maybe because we were some of the only customers in the place. In a nutshell if you want good thai go to osha or lingba or koh samui but not here. Pros: nice location Cons: food, service, prices more

Food that's fun to eat with real Thai flavor 8/2/2007

Been here a few times, all my friends love this place. Decor is awesome, one side you have a cool bar with plasma tv, glass bar top, then you have an open kitchen with all the chefs busting out delicious food, the dining area is comfy with tree decorations on the wall, different types of lighting from the ceiling, nicely matches with all the designer stores in that neighborhood. Food was awesome, best Pad Thai in the city, good seafood selection, and many Thai specialties that is not offered else where. Can't wait to go back there for happy hour, order a few apps, try some cocktails. Pros: Food, ambience, drinks Cons: difficult parking during the day more

Crazy for getting the crab 7/28/2007

Updated menu: Pros: Parking Cons: Disjointed, amateur fusion food, weak cocktails, overpriced more

Another fantastic Thai restaurant opened in my hood! 11am through dinner and open late! GREAT bar w/ unique delicious cocktails!! 7/17/2007

Great space, great service, amazing food and DRINKS!!! I love that all these amazing restaurants have been popping up in Potrero Hill, i have been there 3 times since the soft opening ( for lunch once and drinks twice) tomorrow night will be my first dinner there. I cant wait and i will let everyone know how it goes! This place is a food lovers dream, open 7 days a week and if your too lazy to go out, they deliver!!!! Pros: drinks, large menu, delivery, tons of parking, friendly staff and great service more
